A Betrayed Luna – Chapter 162

You have not succeeded

Marlon

“Laura…” I utter with trepidation. “It is I…”

A prolonged pause ensues, prompting me to hold my breath in anticipation of an answer.

“What is the source of this number?” Laura snarls, her voice brimming with disdain and animosity. “How did you acquire Priscilla’s phone?” “

I glance at the frightened she-wolf next me, Priscilla, who is nervously biting her nails while I attempt to articulate my thoughts. It has required more than a week to earn the trust of Ruben and Priscilla, and even more time to muster the courage to contact Laura and elucidate her situation.

“I will elucidate later,” I respond, my hands trembling as they grasp the phone to my ear. “We must converse—”

“We have no topics for discussion,” she hisses, the malice evident in her tone.

“Laura, I—”

“Refrain from addressing me in that manner!” “She retorts.” “In fact, refrain from contacting me entirely.” You forfeited that privilege long ago. Regardless of the matter, exclude me from it. I am indifferent.

Aldo has lost his sanity.I contend.

“I am indifferent to Aldo or any of the Blood Night wolves,” she retorts. “Please leave me alone, Marlon.” You excel in that area.

Her remarks are painful, yet I endure. This is exceedingly significant. “He is aware of Braylon!” I weep fervently before she can terminate the call, and she gasps, terror palpable in her voice.

“What did you articulate?” “

I exhale in relief now that I have her focus. “He is aware of Braylon.” He is aware that you have a son, Luna.

“Refrain from addressing me in that manner!” She screams into the phone.

“I apologize,” I murmur contritely. “He is aware that you have a son.” He is aware that you registered him in the small creche facility located near your residence at the outskirts of town. He is aware that you are employed as a medical assistant at the Liberty Bay clinic and work as a waitress at Halitton in the evenings. He possesses comprehensive knowledge on you and Braylon, and he is approaching. He is returning for his Luna and his offspring.

“No,” she whimpers, her voice tinged with heart-wrenching frustration. “No.” Negative. Negative! I used caution. I was quite cautious. How did he locate me? What is the status of Nina? Has she not provided him with a successor by now?”

“Nina is infertile,” I exhale, eliciting an unexpected eruption of laughter from the opposite side.

“Indeed?” Laura chuckles. “Goddess, this is astonishing.”

“This is not amusing, Laura,” I admonish her. This matter is grave. Your sister has significantly complicated matters.

“That is your own responsibility.” “Blood Night selected her in preference to me,” Laura scoffs. I devoted myself entirely to you, although it held little significance as you opted to safeguard Aldo and Nina instead. Do not return to me now that you have acknowledged your error. It has been more than four years since my departure, and now, unexpectedly, you contact me, anticipating that I will accept your newfound clarity regarding your error with Nina. Tch! “I express my disdain towards you, Marlon.”

“Laura, I implore you,” I beseech. “Kindly pay attention-”

“No,” she retorts. I implored you to assist me in alleviating my suffering and to aid me in discovering a remedy, yet you remained inactive. You derided me with your silence and deceit. Cease immediately! I have ceased to assist you. I have concluded my engagement with Blood Night. I will determine my course of action myself, without your assistance. Insulting you!”

She terminates the call before I can utter another word, denying me the chance to elucidate the extent of the peril she faces. If she declines Aldo, the consequences from Cain are unpredictable.

I attempt to call again, but the phone immediately diverts to voicemail, and I struggle to suppress the need to travel to California and search every city for her.

“Contact her,” Priscilla implores. “She is currently irate and distressed, rendering her unwilling to listen; however, once she calms down, she may be more amenable to perusing your perspective.” Regardless of her response, she must be informed about the situation of her ex and her sister.

Recognising my limited options, I heed Priscilla’s counsel and compose a message detailing Aldo’s murder spree. I hope Laura is more receptive to understanding matters in the morning.

“I will send Jadi a message in the morning,” Ruben proposes. “He may be inclined to listen and persuade Ricky to regard this threat with gravity.”

Therefore.

Priscilla and Ruben informed me that he was Laura’s second chance partner, despite her previous disfavour towards him during their last conversation. They describe him as a silent Moonlit wolf who appears to be a decent individual.

It is a significant relief to ascertain that Laura is not entirely isolated and that she possesses an advocate to protect her from Aldo. I sincerely hope this new partner treats her with greater respect than Aldo ever did.

After sending the texts, Priscilla escorts me to their spare room, and as I prepare for bed, my phone rings, displaying Christian’s name on the screen.

Disregarding him would appear overly suspicious, so I swiftly organise my thoughts prior to responding.

“Affirmative, Alpha?” I articulate into the speaker.

“Do you possess my companion?” He enquires without offering a greeting.

My wolf Adam cautions against revealing the truth to him.

“Not at this moment, sir.” She—

“You have not succeeded in your mission.”

“The situation is not straightforward,” I elucidate. “She refuses to allow me to communicate with her and convey your apology.”

“Compel her to listen!” He bellows into my phone.

“What follows, sir?” I deride. “Should I abduct her?” “

Adam growls, “You are treading a precarious path at this moment.” Do not jeopardise this opportunity.
