The prospect of an imminent battle is disconcerting. During my tenure as Luna, Blood Night enjoyed a period of tranquilly, having witnessed only a single rogue assault. It was minor, and fortunately, no one was injured; nonetheless, it is insignificant when contrasted with a full-scale conflict against advanced werewolves. Nonetheless, the presence of Jadi and Jimmy alleviates my concerns. They would safeguard Bray unreservedly.
“What inquiry did the Queen pose to you?” I ultimately enquire upon our arrival at the guest house.
For a moment, it seems Jadi may respond, his mouth slightly opening; but, he ultimately restrains himself and retrieves his phone to compose his reply. I strive to remind myself that he is likely apprehensive about communicating with me, however it still pains me that he refrains from using his voice in my presence.
I must not have concealed my emotions effectively, as Jadi appears somewhat anxious, as though anticipating my outburst. To be fair, I acknowledge that I have not treated him kindly, so I comprehend that it will require time for him to confide in me.
I remind myself to be patient while feigning a grin. Exercise patience.
I rise on the tips of my toes and push my lips against his, Jadi’s eyes widening in astonishment at the unexpected kiss. He takes a time to respond, but when he does, my entire body ignites with exhilaration as his arms encircle my waist.
“Disgusting, mother, disgusting!” Bray exclaims joyfully, a broad smile on his face as he covers his eyes with his hands. “No additional kisses for Jadi, mother!”
I detach from Jadi and stoop to retrieve Bray. “Ought I to kiss you instead?” I enquire, bestowing kisses upon his round cheeks.
“Negative!” Bray yells, erupting in laughter as I tickle his abdomen.
Jadi stays immobilised like a statue, his face and ears vividly crimson. I lean forward to kiss him on the lips, but Jadi merely blinks at me.
Am I being overly presumptuous? I am curious, feeling somewhat disheartened by his absence of excitement.
I desire to retreat and conceal myself for allowing my emotions to overwhelm me, when Jadi unexpectedly cradles my cheeks and draws me near to his lips. A surge of butterflies erupts in my stomach, their wings flapping joyfully with each movement of Jadi’s delectable lips.
“Ewww, cooties,” Bray exclaims, once more shielding his eyes as I hesitantly withdraw from Jadi.
“Very well, you mischievous imp,” I chuckle, producing flatulent sounds across his cheeks. “Shall we search for a room for you this evening?” “I enquire, eliciting laughter through tickling.”
Jadi tilts his head in perplexity.
“A room exclusively for me?” “Bray enquires, beaming broadly.”
“A room exclusively for you,” I state, tapping his nose. You will be sleeping alone tonight like a mature individual. What is your opinion?”
Affirmative!Bray inclines his head, his large eyes shimmering with joy.
I transport Bray upstairs, while observing Jadi’s intense blush at the possibility of spending the evening alone with me.
Bray selects the room at the end of the corridor, featuring a huge window overlooking the River Moon Packhouse, after meticulously scrutinising all the rooms and evaluating the mattresses for optimal bounciness. I provide him with all his clothing and the limited toys he brought to personalise the area. Bray positions his pet wolf on the bed to accompany him during sleep.
At nighttime, I place Bray in bed and briefly cuddle with him.
“Bray?” “I enquire while I groom his hair with my fingers.
“Yes, mother?” He responds while cradling his wolf in his lap and manipulating its ears.
“Does… Does Jadi communicate with you at any time?I enquire, biting my bottom lip as I await his response.
Bray wrinkles his nose and laughs at me. “Indeed,” he affirms with a nod. “Constantly.”
“What subjects do you discuss?” ”
He nonchalantly shrugs while stroking his wolf’s fur. “Items.”
“What type of items?” I enquire, seeking to ascertain the duration of Bray and Jadi’s discussions unbeknownst to me.
“Excrement!” Bray emits a shrill cry.
“Bray, I am earnest,” I exhale, scowling at the young guy.
I receive limited information from him; however, Bray is excessively enthusiastic to sleep in his own room, prompting me to abandon my efforts altogether. It requires an hour to settle Bray for the night, leaving me fatigued from the day’s endeavours. I return to my room and discover Jadi arranging a pillow and blanket on the floor, recalling that I had permitted him to share the bed with me to prevent Bray from lying on the floor beside him.
“You may share my bed if you desire,” I exclaimed, immediately covering my lips in mortification at the utterance. “You may rest on the bed.” “with me,” I amend, as Jadi’s ears flush pink.
