The bun-haired Jennifer tilted her head throughout: “I also think he looks familiar, like I’ve seen him somewhere before!”
To avoid trouble, Sophia didn’t mention her divorce or her relationship with Scott Livinus. After all, Livinus and her roommates were unlikely to meet again in the future, so there was no need for excessive explanations. Thinking this, everyone got into the car.
Sophia sat in the front passenger seat while the others sat in the back. Luckily, Livinus had brought a sedan today; otherwise, if he had come with his sports car, a two-seater, it wouldn’t have been able to accommodate the others. And although the Rolls-Royce was expensive, it wasn’t unheard of. However, if he had brought his rumored limited-edition McLaren, it would likely have gone viral on Facebook.
On the way, many people stopped to watch Sophia, continuously snapping photos of the car. At first, Sophia thought they were photographing the car, but upon closer observation, she realized they were actually photographing the people inside.
How odd!
—
The car was silent.
Scott Livinus had an aura of “keep away,” which kept Sophia’s usually chatty roommates unusually quiet. Everyone exchanged glances but dared not speak. However, Jennifer, who had been peeking at Livinus’s face through the rearview mirror, became increasingly puzzled. The man seemed so familiar. Quietly, she pulled out her phone, opened Facebook, and began searching. What she found made her gasp audibly.
“You’re…”
Livinus turned his head and glanced at her.
Seeing that he didn’t show any displeasure, Jennifer gathered her courage and showed him her phone.
“Handsome guy, are you Scott Livinus, the big boss of the Scott Family?”
Scott replied calmly, “You’re not the first person to say I look like him.”
Jennifer recognized the playful remark immediately, growing even more excited: “You really are Scott Livinus!”
Livinus’s lips curled slightly, and he acknowledged her statement.
Jennifer couldn’t contain her excitement. The roommates all stared at her in confusion: “Jennifer, what’s gotten you so worked up again?”
“Of course, I’m worked up! If this happened to you, you’d be thrilled, too! Don’t you recognize him? Doesn’t he look familiar to you?”
Scarlett thought hard: “He does look a bit familiar, but I can’t remember where I’ve seen him. Thinking about it, we definitely don’t have such wealthy relatives, so I gave up.”
“Exactly! He’s so handsome; could he be a celebrity?” Isabella wondered aloud.
“Celebrities? Please! What are celebrities compared to this? Have you ever seen anyone this handsome? How could you not know who he is? Haven’t you ever heard of the Scott Family? He’s the big boss! The one all the girls in America are queuing up to marry, with fan clubs full of ‘Scott Livinus Wives’ across the country! It’s Scott Livinus!”
Upfront, Livinus chuckled softly. He hadn’t realized he was this famous.
“Scott Livinus? The boss of the Scott Family?”
The roommates were stunned.
Their surprise was understandable. Nearing graduation, some of them planned to work in hospitals, while others intended to join pharmaceutical companies. They had even sent résumés to the Scott Family’s research institute. However, the Scott Family only recruited postgraduates at a minimum, and most of their hires were PhDs. Medical students weren’t typically considered. Their résumés had sunk without a trace, and they had privately grumbled about the Scott Family, assuming nepotism was rampant.
Yet they all knew deep down that the Scott Family was a legitimate company, and getting hired there was extremely challenging—much harder than landing a hospital job!
Sophia hadn’t anticipated Scott Livinus being so famous, leaving her slightly annoyed.
Bringing such a famous person along felt like a hassle.
Jennifer, unable to contain her excitement, asked, “Mr. Livinus Scott, can I take a photo with you? Just a profile shot?”
Scott glanced at Sophia, and Jennifer immediately picked up on the hint, turning to plead with Sophia:
“Sophia, can you let me take a photo? Mr. Livinus Scott already agreed!”
Sophia gritted her teeth, feeling set up.
Livinus hadn’t really agreed; he clearly didn’t want to be photographed and was dragging her into refusing for him. Besides, what right did she have to decide for Scott Livinus?
“Take it… if you must.”
“Yay!” Jennifer squealed in delight, snapping a profile photo of Livinus Scott. She also stealthily took a selfie with him in the background.
“Mr. Scott, what’s your relationship with our Sophia? Are you really not her husband?”
At a red light, Livinus turned his head. “Do I look like her husband?”
“You do! Totally!” Barbara nodded furiously.
Sophia shot her a warning look. “I said he’s not my husband. Stop saying such nonsense!”
Recalling that Sophia had mentioned her troubled marriage and seeing how kind Livinus was to her, Barbara suspected their relationship was more complicated than it seemed. She pressed her lips together and remained silent, while Livinus, staring ahead, seemed lost in thought.

The excitement of meeting Scott Livinus eventually wore off, replaced by somber feelings upon arriving at the hospital and recalling Madeline’s poisoning.
“You should head back. I’ll take a taxi later.”
Livinus checked his watch. “It’s fine. I’ll wait in the car and review some documents. Go ahead.”
“Wow! Mr. Scott is so considerate!” The roommates dragged Sophia away.
