She perceived the door to her room open and sensed, as well as heard, the deep sigh emitted by Caelan. Subsequently, he retreated slowly from her.
“Alpha Kaiden is here to see you.” She sensed his arms withdraw, leaving only his hands resting on her upper arms.
Daisy gazed up at him; he appeared decidedly unhappy, a demeanour to which she was accustomed. She nodded, prompting him to step back, and she sensed Amelia lamenting in her mind at the severance of their connection.
“Could you vacate the room!” Alpha Kaiden asserted; it did not resemble a question despite its phrasing, but rather a command, she discerned.
“I will remain just outside. I shall not venture far, Daisy,” Caelan informed her as he fully withdrew and proceeded towards the door.
“Bring your Beta along.”
“Joe will attend solely at Daisy’s request.”
Caelan’s voice now bore an irate tone; he resented being commanded, particularly by another Alpha, within his own pack.
She turned and observed both of them glaring at one another, now able to detect the scents of Alpha Kaiden: sandalwood, eucalyptus, and musk. She heard Amelia snort in her mind, clearly annoyed and frustrated by the presence of two Mates.
She observed Mason interpose himself between her and the two individuals, sighing, aware that his actions stemmed from his role as her protector, as they appeared poised to engage in a confrontation within the confines of the room. He was willing to jeopardise himself for her safety.
“It is acceptable,” she stated. “Mason, please accompany Caelan.”
“It was sufficiently challenging to acknowledge that her birth had condemned him to a life of solitude, and his voluntary decision to safeguard her was beginning to induce a headache.”
Observed both individuals glance at her, then nod and exit the room.
She was left alone with AlphaKaiden, who turned to her and, upon noticing her back, frowned and enquired, “What transpired?”
“Nothing,” she asserted. She preferred not to engage with him, as she was unfamiliar with him. However, she was acquainted with Caelan and Mason, and since the matter pertained to Mason, she felt more at ease confiding in them than in this Alpha.
“If Caelan has harmed you.”
Daisy sensed Amelia’s furious snarl within her consciousness. She was certain that Caelan would never inflict physical harm upon her. “No, Caelan would never harm me.”
“Are you certain? You have already dismissed him.”
“For entirely distinct reasons,” Daisy informed him. She was unaware of his knowledge regarding her prior connection with Caelan, likely possessing minimal information.
Alpha Kaiden approached her and enquired, “Are you well?”
She nodded; physically, she was healed. Her back had recovered completely, and she observed that the healing process had occurred rapidly. His hand caressed her face gently. “Mine,” he murmured softly. She noted that his touch did not cause her pain. Had Caelan rescinded all his commands over her, or had her death rendered them void?
Daisy bit her lip, uncertain of how to respond. Amelia did not retaliate but expressed her annoyance by swishing her tail in her mind upon hearing him. Both could detect his scent, and they recognised him as their Mate. Could the Goddess impose any further challenges at this moment? She hoped not.
“I do not anticipate a reciprocal declaration. I merely wished for you to be aware that I desire to claim you,” he stated softly, his gaze fixed on hers, a smile gracing his lips as he glanced down at her. “Did you appreciate your gift?”
Daisy conceded, “Indeed, it is beautiful.”
“I will provide you with everything you desire, Daisy. I will love and cherish you,” he stated.
Daisy candidly expressed, “It is somewhat perplexing for me.”
He nodded in acknowledgement, approached her, leaned down, and kissed her, resulting in a cascade of tingling sensations across her lips where they made contact.
His arms encircled her as he drew her closer. Her eyes gently closed, and she reciprocated the kiss. It was quite pleasant. During his previous visit, he had been kind, enquiring if she desired his kiss and expressing his own longing to do so beforehand.
Amelia, however, was utterly displeased, and a snarl erupted from her as her wolf forcibly separated her from the man’s kiss and withdrew Daisy’s body from his grasp.
He was now gazing at her with a frown, evidently displeased, as she discerned Amelia’s response to him. She observed his wolf emerge, his eyes radiating the characteristic green hue of his wolf. She sensed Amelia rise to the forefront and emit a loud growl at him, interpreting it as a threat due to his wolf’s abrupt manifestation.
“He poses no threat to you; his name is Loch, merely inquisitive.”
Amelia scoffed at them and withdrew.
He appeared disinterested in his wolf at that moment, prowling within her consciousness, agitatedly flicking her tail back and forth.
Can he withdraw? Amelia is apprehensive regarding him.
Jayden’s frown intensified, yet she observed his wolf withdraw. “He is her Mate; she ought not to growl at him in such a manner,” he stated bluntly.
Daisy asserted, “I do not control her. Amelia possesses her own autonomy,” despite their frequent alignment on various matters. This harmony had persisted for an extended period. Their therapeutic sessions had facilitated mutual understanding and nearly complete unification, resulting in frequently congruent thoughts.
“Most wolves do,” Kaiden affirmed. “However, please restrain her; do not allow that behaviour to recur. We are her Mate. I am also an Alpha, and my wolf will not endure disrespect, particularly from his Mate.”
Daisy arched an eyebrow at him, perceiving the typical Alpha demeanour. They were fundamentally alike. She remained silent. Conversely, Amelia’s anger intensified with each passing moment. Daisy sensed it, unable to suppress her wolf’s emotions, unaware of how to commence, much less deny Amelia the right to feel as she wished. Indeed, that was how she felt.
Amelia stood within her consciousness, observing the man who had just instructed her human counterpart to exert control over her. She felt considerable discontent regarding that assertion.
His eyes narrowed at her, likely sensing the anger of her wolf.
