None of his men could have transported her home last night.
The tension in his office was escalating rapidly; it was evident to him that Daisy would neither relent nor apologise. He found it entirely unappealing. He was not fond of this new aspect of her personality.
Mason implored her to apologise, yet she audaciously declined, stating, “No.” She averted her gaze from Caelan to address Mason, asserting, “I did not request the Alpha to retrieve me, nor compel me to depart from Thiago’s. I cannot recall whether I was leaving voluntarily or was coerced by the Alpha to leave against my will.” Are you Mason?”
He was now seething, as she was insinuating that he had caused her departure, which he acknowledged he had. A subdued growl emanated from him; he was unable to restrain it, as he found this aspect of her utterly distasteful. Subsequently, we enquired about our entitlement, seeking his candid acknowledgement that he had compelled her departure against her volition.
“Leave and proceed to your room,” he growled at her, unable to suppress his fury any longer. She rose and exited his office, having yet to offer him an apology. She had completely reversed the situation, insulting him while simultaneously informing him that she was convinced he had removed her from Thiago’s without consideration for her desires, regardless of whether he acknowledged it. He must apologise to her for it.
Hudson appeared quite entertained internally, thinking, ‘She is audacious now; I appreciate it.’
Caelan was displeased by her challenge to his authority.
His gaze remained fixed on the vacant door; the bloodied woman appeared to be soliciting punishment. He contemplated, ‘soliciting punishment.’ Perhaps she anticipated a day in confinement, yet she had not requested to see John, instead opting to challenge and defy him. Had it been any other pack member, they would have received a day in confinement as retribution.
Was that her intention? He was unaware. He directed his gaze towards Mason, who regarded him with disapproval.
“What?”He rebuked his Beta.
“Exercise some leniency towards her, Caelan.” She is correct, and you are aware of it. You did indeed retrieve her. She had no alternative; it appears she is aware of this as well.
“I will not apologise, Joe.”
Mason retorted sharply, expressing evident anger, and then rose abruptly to exit the room.
“You never acknowledged your faults, even when you were in the wrong,” he retorted as he exited the office, subsequently slamming the door behind him in defiance of his Alpha.
Caelan exhaled deeply and massaged his temples. The man was correct in that regard. He had numerous transgressions for which to apologise; he should likely confront the situation and proceed with the necessary apologies. He remained excessively angry; it would necessitate postponement until he regained composure, or he would merely become agitated once more.
Daisy’s Perspective
She had not apologised to him, instead maintaining her position and refusing to relent. It was her inaugural occurrence of such an action, and she was aware that Caelan was utterly incensed by it as well. Mason appeared irritated by her abrupt shift in demeanour; however, she had not requested to be rescued. She was quite certain of that.
Stood and fixed her gaze upon the canvas in her room. She was reluctant to engage with it, compelled to gaze upon his annoyingly attractive visage, grinning at her, radiating light and joy in his eyes. Desired to strike him and erase that smile from his countenance.
Upon hearing her stomach growl, she sighed, acknowledging her hunger. It was still early, barely 0730, and the dining room would remain open for another hour. She proceeded to have breakfast.
She was meant to be in her room. Nonetheless, she needed to eat as well. He was unable to deprive her of sustenance. Ella remained seated at a table, consuming a cup of coffee. Daisy was scheduled to have breakfast with her prior to encountering difficulties. She was seated at a table with Mason’s two younger siblings, Ava and Sonja. She gestured for her to approach, and upon acknowledgement, she filled a plate with pancakes and freshly sliced fruit, drizzled maple syrup over it, took a glass of orange juice, and seated herself.
“Did you encounter difficulties?””
“Indeed, I did.” It seems that I am to blame; he retrieved me from Thiago’s. He indeed took me, correct? She enquired of Ella, attempting to validate her suspicions that Caelan had indeed dismissed her for his own self-serving motives.
“Indeed, he entered the club, hoisted you onto his shoulder, and exited without uttering a single word.”
“For heaven’s sake!” What is his issue? She murmured, “I am no longer his mate.”
Ella and Mason’s two sisters erupted in laughter at her comment.
“What?””
Ava snorted, “You could have deceived us.” She was Mason’s youngest sister, four years younger than Daisy, resembling Belinda more than Mason did; Mason bore a closer resemblance to Cullen, except for his grey eyes, which he inherited from their mother. She observed that both of his sisters possessed their mother’s eyes as well.
What will Lydia perceive regarding his conduct?”
All three were now gazing at her. They appeared somewhat perplexed by her remark, “What?”Daisy enquired.
“What is the reason for Lydia’s concern regarding that?”Sonja enquired.
“She is his Mate, which is the reason!”Daisy scowled at them.
Why did she feel compelled to express this to others repeatedly?
Ava and Sonja responded simultaneously, “No, she is not.” Daisy gazed from one individual to the other, a scowl adorning her visage. “What?” However, They are perpetually in each other’s company, with Luna Elizabeth consistently by her side. Caelan never refuted my congratulations on discovering his Mate. Lydia did not either.
“She has been his companion for two years, yet she is not his Mate,” Ella responded. “Do you believe that a man as possessive as you know him to be would not assert his claim over his Mate the moment he discovered her?”
Daisy gazed at her, astonished; she had been in this pack for weeks, and Lydia’s overt affection towards him suggested that she was indeed his Mate. Caelan had never refuted it. Lydia desired the portrait depicting herself and him as the Luna and the Alpha.
Daisy was significantly perplexed at this moment. Daisy comprehended the rationale behind Caelan’s mother’s desire to feature only Caelan in the portrait. What was she to do with the excess space on the left side of him in the portrait? She was reluctant to discard it and begin anew.
“Did he select her to be the Luna?”She enquired, attempting to resolve the matter.
