The Alpha’s Second Chance – Chapter 231

Dinner

“I would not request him to do so, Nathan, despite my irritation with him, which persists. I will accept responsibility for whatever my Mate declares.”

“Satisfactory.” “I sincerely hope, Alpha Ryder, that this will ultimately prove futile.” The man rose and exited Ryder’s office.

He perceived Luca exhale audibly from his position against the wall, “What do you anticipate her response will be?””

I am uncertain. I have not disclosed it to her at all. I did not disclose that clause to her, as I was reluctant to do so, and I remain uncertain about her feelings regarding that night. The only certainty is that she rejected me afterward. This matter does trouble him.

“Ryder, that could be attributed to various factors.” It is evident that she intended to depart regardless, as the surveillance cameras on the Alpha floor indicated she had a packed bag and was prepared to leave.

He was aware that she had not anticipated his return that night, as he was scheduled to attend an Alpha meeting in an Allied pack for several days. “I ponder the frequency with which she occupied my bed throughout the years.”He expressed himself audibly.

Luca gazed directly at him and subsequently shrugged, stating, “It could have occurred at any moment or never; that may have been the inaugural instance she did that.”

Ryder was unaware; his curiosity led him to the realisation that she could have ventured anywhere and accomplished anything within this pack. In the absence of scent, no one could have tracked her movements. He contemplated that it would be advantageous for a spy to investigate enemy factions. Although she no longer does, she currently possesses his scent.

He exhaled deeply and rose to proceed to her chamber.

He needed to inform her about the necessary meeting with Annabella. At the very least, she appeared to have developed a fondness for the woman now. Upon knocking on the door, Logan greeted him with a smile. “Hello, father.”

He genuinely cherished hearing that from his son, smiling down at him, “Hi son.” He also relished expressing that.

He wished to continue doing it for an extended period, not merely for the remainder of the day. If that duel occurred and he was defeated.

He observed that the boy had already donned some of his new attire, as had Brianna. His gaze shifted to her, noting that they were both clad in jeans and fluffy socks, without shoes, and both wore long-sleeved, lightweight knitted tops.

Her knitted jumper fit her perfectly, accentuating her curves. He smiled at her, noting that she looked good in maroon. ‘Brianna, I need to speak with you’, she said, gazing at him.

“If feasible, let us speak in the hallway,” he requested, as he wished to avoid Logan becoming agitated or overhearing this discussion.

It was probable that this would provoke Rowan. “It is imperative, please,” he emphasised when she did not rise immediately.

Observed her exhale and ultimately rise. “Merely a few minutes, Logan,” he reassured the boy, who nodded in response, appearing relatively unconcerned by his request.

She closed the door after exiting and regarded him with a questioning gaze. “Annabella requires a discussion with you concerning the contract between our pack and hers, the one I briefly referenced that involves you and your mother.” “I will not engage in this discussion with you.” He shook his head and ceased her enquiries. “It is advisable that you respond to her enquiries candidly, and I do not wish to…” he paused to contemplate, “influence your responses, induce any hesitation, or create the impression that you should withhold honesty.”

What is the subject matter? She was scowling at him now.

He greatly favoured her smiling at him, and she had done so today. Directed at him, yet thoroughly entertained by her own musings, it had indeed been aimed at him.

It is advisable to enter without any preconceived notions. “She can assess your response,” he sighed. “Simply be truthful with her, irrespective of the enquiries.”

“Am I facing repercussions?””

“No,” he replied, shaking his head. “It will occur after dinner.” I will not venture far either. You may utilise my office or your own, if preferred.

“Is this my office?””

“Indeed, the Luna’s office.” He informed her that it would be hers if the inquiry yielded no results.

“I suppose it is of no concern to me,” she replied with a shrug.

I will arrange it. Logan must remain with another individual while you converse with Annabella. Nathan wished to conduct this inquiry personally. I rejected that.

Brianna merely nodded at him, appearing both perplexed and inquisitive simultaneously.

I would appreciate it if we could all have a family dinner beforehand, please. Within a private dining chamber.

He observed her narrow her eyes at him; he was reluctant to pressure her, but depending on the result of her discussion with Annabella, this might be his sole opportunity for a family dinner with her. He desired to possess that as a precaution against potential calamity. “Please,” Ryder reiterated, observing her finally nod in assent.

Brianna’s Perspective

Ryder’s gaze as he invited her to a private family dinner revealed that there was an underlying issue at play. The nature of the issue was unknown, yet it was evidently causing the man distress.

Although he attempted to conceal his emotions and communicate that nothing was amiss, she was adept at both masking her own feelings and discerning the truth.

He concealed it swiftly; she perceived a fleeting glimpse of what seemed to be sadness. He required this.

Brianna believed that his desire to have dinner with her was not the sole reason, which influenced her decision to agree to the family dinner. As soon as she did, he stepped aside and opened her door, allowing her to re-enter her room.
