The Alpha’s Possession – Chapter 106

Confidant

Caelan was perplexed by the man’s composure, seemingly unfazed by the recent events, especially given Daisy’s impending significance in his life within a few weeks.

“I am pleased to observe that you can exhibit kindness towards her, Caelan,” his Beta’s voice resonated through the mind-link.

“I apologise, Joe,” he said. Caelan recognised that he had no claim to her, yet he found himself unable to restrain his impulses.

I have no objections to Caelan. I understand your feelings towards her; it is acceptable.

Caelan did not anticipate reacting so composedly; had he entered the room to discover mason’s lips on hers, he likely would have forcibly separated them and instigated a confrontation in her presence.

“You are excessively relaxed, Joe.” Caelan could distinctly sense that Daisy had fallen asleep against him, which he did not mind in the least. He appreciated holding her; it was genuinely pleasant to have her nestled against him, without her recoiling or harbouring animosity for his kiss. He recognised that her need for comfort following her ordeal was likely the reason, yet he remained indifferent, revealing his selfish nature.

“Indeed, I frequently receive that observation.””I observe that she is breathing independently,” a smile adorned the man’s face, and amusement coloured his voice as he advanced further into the room.

“Yes, and already asleep again,” Caelan informed him. Maintaining their dialogue via the mind-link to avoid disturbing her.

“You likely induced oxygen deprivation, resulting in her fainting once more.” Mason’s tone was light and teasing over the link.

“I did not,” Caelan retorted. However, I could not suppress a smile and had to restrain a laugh. He was unaware of the duration he had remained there kissing her, although Mason, judging by the sounds, seemed to know. It must have been some time.

Mason smiled at him, saying, “Why not place her down and allow her to rest?”

Caelan was reluctant, yet her warmth against him was pleasurable. He genuinely appreciated it, yet recognised that he ought to refrain. Gently reclined her on the bed, one hand positioned behind her head and the other supporting her shoulders, gazed intently at her, caressed her face delicately, swept aside some stray hair, pressed his lips softly to her forehead, and rose to find his Beta observing him, seemingly stifling laughter.

“What?”He irritably communicated through the mind-link, still reluctant to awaken her.

“Nothing, Caelan… I have simply never observed you to be so… tender,” he appeared to contemplate for a moment.

“Silence, Joe,” Caelan practically growled at the man.

Caelan sighed as he observed his Beta cover his mouth to suppress laughter. It likely appeared peculiar to the man, as he was not of a gentle disposition. Consistently aggressive in all his endeavours, he had never wished to harm Daisy, not even once.

Mason appeared to regain his composure. “Hurry, Caelan, that scoundrel is awake.”

Caelan nodded, glanced at Daisy, and scowled. He did not wish for her to be solitary, even with that scoundrel imprisoned, as she had been assaulted twice within his pack. Indeed, he possessed it from that man, yet he found it unappealing. He did not desire to leave her alone and unprotected.

She has already requested that I refrain from killing him, Joe. The initial words conveyed through the mind-link, indeed.

As anticipated, Caelan. Rest assured, she will be fine here; it is the Luna suite.

I do not wish for her to be left alone, Joe.

“Request your mother to join me, or you could obtain…” Alex.

Caelan massaged his temples; the man was undoubtedly testing his patience and revelling in it. Introducing Alex into this room would be highly significant, given that he was the Gamma and she was currently in the Luna suite, the designated location for healing injured Lunas or addressing medical needs; he and his five sisters were all born in this very room. Indeed, she has previously spent a month in this room herself.

Caelan recognised that he had neither brought her here nor placed her in the Luna suite. Mason had transported her to the hospital on both occasions; the bite inflicted by Wesson had necessitated her presence in this room for treatment, and Mason had also brought her to Maurice.

Caelan had no objections to it. He was intrigued regarding the identity of the individual responsible for the decision to place her in the Luna suite on each occasion; was it Mason or Maurice who had made that choice? His mother had also not relocated her to another room. That was also intriguing to him. It was, in fact, his mother’s suite, and she permitted another individual to utilise it.

Mason’s Perspective

Mason’s gaze fixed upon his Alpha as he exited the medical suite where Daisy resided. He had not engaged in s****l relations with Lydia for several days. That was intriguing for Mason to hear. He smirked to himself, confident that he could identify the exact day he ceased cohabiting with her. Mason was aware that his friend had returned to sleeping in his former bedroom. Intriguing development.

This explains Lydia’s recent sulking around the premises. She sat at the Alpha table to have breakfast with them yesterday, and Caelan promptly stood up and left. Mason excused himself, claiming he had work to attend to. He recognised this as a falsehood; the woman’s gaze trailed after him, appearing somewhat melancholic, yet she refrained from commenting on it. Consumed her meal in silence.

Alex had telepathically enquired about the situation between them, to which Mason had merely shrugged and responded that he was unaware. Alex had fixed his gaze on Mason, clearly unconvinced by his claim of ignorance. Both Alex and Cole recognised that Mason was the sole individual capable of eliciting conversation from Caelan, serving as his exclusive confidant. However, the man had relinquished it; Mason understood the importance of discretion.
