The man declared his love for her.
Stella’s frown intensified; Brianna had remarked. He had never loved her; there was always another woman. If wolves were to mate for life, why would Ryder be involved with another partner?
She was utterly perplexed and comprehended nothing.
Nolan had informed her that the two individuals needed to resolve certain issues, which could require considerable time.
She sighed, sensing that something else was amiss; perhaps a conversation with Brianna was necessary. The woman had assisted her with Nolan; perhaps it was time to aid her with Ryder, if she were able, though she was uncertain of her capability.
To what location would Brianna proceed? Why would she abruptly abandon Logan? She rose from her bed, donned her pyjamas, and checked on the boy. He was comfortably settled in bed, entirely oblivious to his mother’s departure from the room.
Brianna was aware that she and Nolan were in the suite, presumably believing the boy was secure with them.
Entered Brianna’s room with a scowl and observed her phone on the bedside table. I retrieved it and entered the password 25663, discovering a message from Ryder himself.
Brianna, kindly permit me to see you this evening. The moon sets at 20:55.
Brianna did not respond. Stella observed the time. The year is now 2050.
Brianna was unwilling to encounter him at moonset.
Why would she flee from him if he were her Mate? Discontinue use of the phone. Nolan had just elucidated to her that the full moon was the designated time to claim one’s Mate.
Brianna was deliberately evading it. Bit her lip, it wasn’t really like Brianna to run away. However, regarding Ryder? At that time, she had unexpectedly left for a long weekend in Colorado and subsequently worked from home to evade him.
This visit was not an escape from Ryder; rather, it was an attempt to distance oneself from Nathan Avery. However, he was still deliberately evading Ryder, as that individual had inflicted harm upon Brianna. Probably compromised their intended purpose.
Brianna had informed her that he had never loved her and never would; she had perceived the anguish in Brianna’s voice and even proposed to return home. I enquired about her well-being, and Brianna confessed that she was not alright; something was amiss. She required clarification regarding the actual events that transpired.
Stella was aware that Brianna was the one who departed, reflecting on their jest regarding Brianna’s sudden maturation in Colorado. She sighed once more, contemplating whether she could persuade Brianna to disclose the events that transpired. Nolan was aware, yet she questioned whether he would disclose it to her. Stated that it was not his prerogative. She possessed an instinctive awareness that they were all cognisant, which was the reason for their presence, attempting to retrieve her.
Stella was uncertain whether Brianna would return, as it was evident she had departed for a valid reason and had remained absent since then. She has never returned or even referenced her origins, including the state of Florida. Not according to Stella’s memory.
Stella had departed from her family, yet she returned for significant events such as weddings, anniversaries, Christmas, and milestone birthdays. May have departed but remained linked to her family. Brianna, conversely, had abandoned everyone and everything, never returning to the life she had known. It was exceedingly perplexing.
She was likely perplexed due to her humanity, which hindered her comprehension of their world. She had much to learn and pondered the duration required to truly grasp their reality. Could she achieve this understanding? Would she assimilate or would she perceive herself as an outsider? She was unaware.
Brianna’s Perspective
Brianna gazed at the text message, anguish permeating her entire being. She recognised that the presence of a full moon tonight would be inconsequential. She set her phone down and approached the window to gaze at the street below.
Over the years, she had positioned herself before him or been in close proximity during numerous full moon nights within that pack. He had not once glanced in her direction. He had not detected her presence for three entire years; tonight’s full moon would not alter the circumstances.
Upon reading the text message, Layla had already departed, causing her wolf to retreat to the recesses of Brianna’s mind. They recognised that their connection remained unbroken; however, they were also aware that it would ultimately be inconsequential to them. It would alter nothing, merely inflicting additional anguish upon them when they beheld him and recognised his inability to perceive their scent.
She shut her eyes, realising from Layla’s absence that she wished to avoid confronting him this evening. Brianna was reluctant to witness once again the absence of acknowledgement. It was futile, as it would probably inflict upon her as much anguish as her wolf did.
She glanced at the clock; it read 2030. She resolved not to make Layla endure that ordeal again. Her wolf was currently in turmoil, aware that they still had a Mate who could not claim them, especially since he admitted to being unable to scent her.
Exhaled deeply, resolved not to respond to that text message.
She transitioned from her room to the living area, having admitted Nolan when he knocked on the door thirty minutes prior. She merely stepped aside, offering little verbal communication. She recognised his necessity to meet Stella. He and Stella were presently conversing in her room behind closed doors. She was uncertain whether he was attentive to her or not. He was probably present solely to be with Stella, as he would soon be able to perceive her scent within a few minutes.
Logan would be secure in their presence. If she ventured outside briefly. Or the entire night. While Nolan was preoccupied with Stella, he would not be monitoring her, and Brianna was quite confident that the two would be unable to refrain from physical affection tonight.
