Ryder hoped that Oscar would not emerge from him and terrify the humans. He recognised that Nolan and Oscar were reckless regarding Stella, and it was entirely plausible that Oscar would exert complete dominance and wreak havoc in the city to reclaim her. He had previously severed ties with Nolan in Denver. Though she had been running away at the time, she clearly was not going of her own volition this time.
Upon enquiring about her well-being and current location, she confirmed she was still at the store, expressing gratitude that they were en route to her location. It is advantageous; we are proceeding directly towards her.
“There are no wolves here, Ryder,” stated Enzo. “Who would seize Nolan’s Mate in broad daylight with him present?” No one is even aware of her existence.
“I am uncertain,” he replied, shaking his head. However, Enzo was correct. No wolves inhabited this area, and even if they did, they would have no knowledge of Stella.
Ryder was exceedingly irritated to learn that Nolan had been procuring coffee during the incident. The man should have known better, regardless of Brianna’s directive to proceed.
She was attempting to convince the human woman, presumably the one who had struck her with her vehicle, to depart, asserting that she did not require an ambulance. I waited for her to cease movement and then enquired precisely about Nolan’s location. It is not surprising that one proceeded on foot after the vehicle.
“It was Miguel,” she informed him, startling everyone in the vehicle. Enzo’s aggressive wolf snarl emanated from the back seat, prompting a turn to confront him, where Axle was visibly displeased with the situation. They had encountered Philip.
Intensified pain surged through his leg as he was commanded to “Shut it” in a notably aggressive tone. He could distinctly perceive increasing pain radiating through his leg, in successive waves. He did not take the reprimand personally; he could discern through the phone that she was traversing down the street, attempting to walk or hop, he surmised. It was inflicting greater pain upon her. Required him to physically massage his knee at one juncture.
Luca gazed directly at him, exclaiming, “You can sense her anguish.”
“I am capable.” Ryder conceded with a nod.
“You will forge a robust connection upon claiming her.”
He could only concur, as he was aware that certain Mates could perceive each other’s pain from injuries and, on rare occasions, childbirth through their connection. He considered that it would not be enjoyable for him.
She was conversing with Logan and ultimately learnt that Enzo had contacted Nolan. The news appeared unfavourable, suggesting that the car had eluded him. He nearly chuckled upon hearing Brianna mutter her intention to physically reprimand Miguel.
Ryder contemplated whether she had encountered the man at some point in time; it was entirely plausible. It was evident that she harboured a dislike for the man, possibly based solely on Stella’s accounts, yet it seemed she was nursing a personal vendetta against him.
Hearing her elucidate the circumstances regarding Miguel and Stella’s father merely incited his anger. If they had been aware of this beforehand, the incident could have been averted. They might have made preparations, yet he refrained from reproaching her regarding it. Nolan could address that subsequently upon retrieving Stella.
I informed her that Luca could repair her knee, but that he would need to physically examine her, aware that she would likely disapprove, as would Layla and Luca himself. He could already perceive the scowl on the man’s visage; she had previously threatened to sever his hand for merely a fleeting contact with her back.
The realignment of a dislocated knee would require more than that.
A comprehensive evaluation and likely two individuals are required to reposition it until it returns to its original alignment, contingent upon the specific type of dislocation. Ryder hoped it was not one of those cases necessitating surgical intervention.
He could hear her conversing with Nolan; he had returned to her vehicle. The man exhibited simultaneous anger and sadness over the loss of the car containing his companion. He was discontented with himself, recognising that there was little merit in directing his frustration towards the other man; both he and his wolf would likely be chastising one another for failing to remain with her.
Who could have anticipated that Stella, his human mate, would be abducted in a country devoid of werewolves? No one here would have anticipated it, probably not even Brianna.
Upon his arrival, Enzo immediately occupied the driver’s seat, prepared to pursue Stella. Brianna shouted at Nolan to leave, and he complied without hesitation. She was glaring at him, virtually insisting on understanding why he was not accompanying Nolan to locate Stella.
That was effortless for him. She was his Mate, not Stella, and she was injured; he needed to be present with her.
What would compel him to abandon her in solitude and suffering? Nolan and Enzo were determined to prevent Miguel from taking Stella out of the country. There was no possibility, unless they possessed her passport, of which Ryder was unaware. He was aware that Brianna consistently carried hers, but did Stella?
Briefly looked past Brianna in the car to observe Logan.
He sat there, biting his lip, appearing concerned but not frightened, likely engaged in conversation with Rowan.
Gave him a reassuring smile when he glanced at Ryder. However, the boy’s gaze returned to his mother, and Ryder discerned that this was likely the first instance he had witnessed her in a state of injury.
Luca evaluated the injury, noting extensive bruising with no visible blood. A supplementary payment.
“It is not the most severe situation I have encountered,” Luca communicated telepathically. “I will handle this; you merely need to prepare to defend against your companion’s wolf.”
“Understood,” Ryder acknowledged; he appreciated that they all referred to her as his Mate now.
The realignment of the knee required several minutes and was uncomfortable for him. He could only speculate that Brianna’s experience was significantly more distressing; he heard it snap back into position and observed her collapse onto the backseat, comprehending the situation. His pain was virtually absent now.
