The Lycan’s Queen – Chapter 114

Fragrant

First on the bed, then on the sofa, then on the floor, and back to the bed again; he seemed never satisfied. The fatigue from the journey, combined with the torment he had just put her through, made her fall into a deep sleep. After a night passed, the next morning, she opened her eyes to find that he was no longer beside her. Instead, he was dressed neatly, standing by the mirror, looking back at her.

“Are you leaving already?” Khanyi pulled the bed sheet over her bare upper body, gazing at him.

“My darling, my angel,” he approached the bedside, wrapped his arms around her neck, and kissed her for a while. “But I have to go to work,” he reluctantly pulled away from her lips, “I’m really glad you could come over. Stay here quietly; it’s chaotic outside. You’d better not go anywhere. If you need anything, just call Ethan. He’s an undercover guard I sent, and he’s right outside the door.”

“Will you come back tonight?” She sat up, raised her arms around his neck. His uniform was crisp, and his hair was meticulously styled. She suddenly wanted to mess up his hair but was afraid he would get angry. He took the opportunity to hold her in his arms, patting her back, and said indulgently, “Little darling, I promise I’ll come see you as soon as I finish work. Shall we have dinner together?”

She nodded, relaxing her arms, kneeling on the bed, watching him turn to take off his hat, tucking it under his arm as he walked out of the bedroom.

She hurriedly got out of bed, walking barefoot on the floor, not having time to find her shoes. Those pink high heels were probably lost when he carried her through the door last night. She took the black long coat hanging on the coat rack and handed it to him, “And there’s the coat.”

He turned his head and smiled, pinching her little face, “No need for that; the weather outside is getting warmer.”

Khanyi hugged the heavy coat, lowered her head to sniff it. It carried his scent, a hint of tobacco, along with his unique domineering and strong aroma. She looked out the window; he had climbed into the car and drove along the square down the street until the vehicle disappeared from sight.

Holding the thick coat, she turned around in the room, lay back on the comfortable big bed, inhaling the unique scent of him on the coat, as if lying in his warm embrace, and unknowingly fell asleep.

She waited for him all day, but he did not return to have dinner with her. She learned this at noon when the undercover policeman outside brought her food and specifically explained it. It wasn’t until 1 AM that he knocked on her door. She could tell he was very tired and immediately woke up from her daze, rolling off the sofa.

As soon as he entered, he began to apologize, his tone quite sincere, “Sorry, darling, I was too busy today and didn’t have time to come back for dinner with you.”

“It’s okay!” She quickly shook her head, taking his outer coat and hanging it on the coat rack. “It doesn’t matter when we eat.” He only owed her a dinner, yet he repeated it several times as if he owed her a huge favor, making her feel a bit embarrassed.

“Having you by my side is really nice.” He stepped forward, holding her in his arms, deeply inhaling the warm, soft fragrance from her hair. She turned around, stood on her tiptoes, and gently stroked his cheek. The gentle smile in his ice-blue eyes was accompanied by a bit of stubble on his cheek, making her fingers tingle.

“You are so handsome!” She sincerely praised him. He tightened his arms, lifting her up and gently laying her down on the bed. She blinked her black eyes, looking at him innocently, “There’s cake and gingerbread; do you want some?”

“Don’t say that; I am a bit hungry.” He chuckled, propping his head up with his hand, lying sideways on the soft bed. His ice-blue eyes looked in the direction she indicated, where there was a small green tin box on the coffee table, tied with a red ribbon, clearly filled with sweet cookies.

“I’ll go make you some coffee,” she wriggled out of his embrace, getting up to the small kitchen in the suite. She opened a tin can, scooped a spoonful of ground coffee into the filter, added water to the pot, and set it on the gas stove to boil… After a while, the water boiled, and the slightly bitter aroma of coffee filled the entire room.

She brought out a cup of hot coffee and saw that he had already taken off his white shirt, wearing only an undershirt, holding a piece of gingerbread and chewing on it. She knew he must be extremely hungry; otherwise, he wouldn’t have started eating the dessert on his own.

“Is it good?” She placed the coffee in front of him, noticing that half of the tin of gingerbread on the coffee table had already been eaten by him.

He took the cup from her hand and kissed her lightly on the cheek, “The gingerbread tastes pretty good, thanks, darling. Did you order room service?”

She gently shook her head, “I went to the café across the square to buy it. The bread and pastries there are freshly baked, so fragrant, and they have your favorite coffee. Oh, and there’s a flower shop next door; the flowers inside are so beautiful…”
