His long, narrow, deep-set eyes, the straight bridge of his nose, and the distinct curve of his thin lips…
Sophia found it hard to ignore the heat in his gaze and the undeniable dominance in his demeanor, as if she were his prey. It didn’t matter whether he caught her sooner or later; either way, she was destined to fall into his grasp.
Sophia suddenly felt a sense of danger.
This man was dangerous! So dangerous that her instincts urged her to keep her distance. Yet, time and time again, he pulled her closer, forcing her to confront this precarious situation. In a fleeting moment, a thought crossed her mind—Scott Livinus might actually like her.
The idea startled her.
Was that even possible? After all, they were nothing more than a one-night stand. Now, she was his nephew’s wife, and the two of them lived under the same roof. Aside from this fragile, undefined connection, there was no reason for them to have—or even think about having—anything else between them.
But Scott Livinus’s gaze was as though he wanted to devour her, making her—usually so composed—feel a rare sense of panic.
Scott Livinus leaned in closer, and Sophia’s breath hitched.
She couldn’t shake the feeling that, at this proximity, the next moment would lead to a kiss.
Their lips drew closer and closer, just a breath away.
Then, suddenly—
The lights flickered back on with a sharp click, and the elevator doors slid open.
Both turned their heads toward the entrance, only to see a crowd of people gathered just outside the elevator.
Security guards, the elevator repairman, property staff, and an astonished Felix and Joanna were all present.
Felix coughed awkwardly and risked speaking, “Boss Scott, how about you step out first?”
Scott Livinus, however, didn’t move. His expression remained calm, completely unbothered by being seen by others, showing no trace of embarrassment.
Seeing this, Joanna, standing nearby, couldn’t help but marvel. *As expected of a boss! Even at a moment like this, he’s so composed—absolutely not an ordinary person.*
Sophia, being held tightly by him and feeling the stares of so many people, said uneasily, “Let me go.”
Scott Livinus smirked slightly. “You’re uncomfortable just because of a few people watching?”
“Of course! Let go of me quickly; don’t let people misunderstand.”
“Are you afraid of being misunderstood?”
“Obviously!” Sophia frowned. “A woman like me, caught in the midst of a divorce scandal, should obviously avoid unnecessary trouble.”
Scott Livinus narrowed his eyes, his tone turning dangerously soft. “So, I’m trouble?”
“Yes! You’re big trouble!”
With that, Sophia pushed him away forcefully.
The crowd slowly dispersed. Scott Livinus picked up his phone and walked out of the elevator. But as soon as he stepped out, he saw Scott Henry standing at the back of the crowd, staring at them with shock written all over his face.
Scott Livinus’s gaze swept past Scott Henry. Without a change in expression, he strode away as if the man holding his nephew’s wife moments ago wasn’t him at all.
His composure left Scott Henry completely stunned, forgetting to go up and confront him.
Scott Henry’s face darkened significantly, feeling as though a dark cloud of suspicion was hovering over his head. *Damn it! Someone tell me what’s going on between those two!
—
In the following days, Scott Henry kept a close eye on Sophia and Scott Livinus. But both seemed extremely busy, leaving early and returning late, hardly staying home. Since he himself spent his days at Olivia’s place, he couldn’t observe much.
“Henry! What about the matter I talked to you about? I want to move into the Scott family home! This way, the staff can better take care of my unborn child.”
Scott Henry paused. Moving back home? That wasn’t a bad idea. It would allow him to keep a closer eye on those two.
No wonder Sophia had been acting a little off lately. She used to love him so much, tirelessly giving without complaint, refusing to divorce no matter what.
But now? The way she looked at him was as if she were looking at dog poop. She constantly clamored for a divorce. Could it be that she really had someone else on the outside?
If he discovered any impropriety between the two, he would make sure Sophia paid the price!
“Alright!” He nodded. “I’ll have someone prepare a room. Since you’re carrying my child, it’s only natural for you to move back home.”
“Great!” Olivia was overjoyed. She had thought it would take some effort to convince him, but to her surprise, Scott Henry agreed so readily. “Henry, you’re the best! I’ll go pack my things right now!”
