The Alpha’s Possession – Chapter 79

Sank

Mason sighed at his recollection, which still poignantly affected him; he was inclined to wager that the mark on her back had manifested in the same manner as his did that day. What was its significance? They had consistently maintained a profound connection. He reclined on his bed, observing her eyes radiating with intensity, experiencing the palpable energy emanating from her, while the door remained heated to the touch and fractured from the forceful impact.

He rubbed his hand across his face, uncertain. No one possessed any knowledge regarding her. He was unable to indicate the location where he discovered her in the snow. They had never located her biological mother either. A solitary infant in the snow, amidst the dense woods on a dark, moonless night.

He was the sole individual capable of hearing her; no one had observed anyone entering or exiting the pack. It was assumed that the mother belonged to the pack but had chosen not to keep the little girl for unspecified reasons.

John had reared her, and no one was aware that she was not his biological daughter. His mate had perished during childbirth the day prior to Joe discovering her, and the general consensus was that the child had survived; only a select few were aware that she was an orphan.

He was aware, as was his father, the Alpha and Luna, likely the entire preceding Alpha Unit, and John; apart from them, it was only he and Caelan.

Who was she? What was her identity? Was she now well-adjusted due to her identity? At times, she appeared distinct to him. Mason elevated his arm and observed the mark. All believed it to be a tattoo, including Caelan. He would never correct the man when he enquired about it a week after its emergence.

Caelan’s Perspective

Caelan awoke solitary, for the first time in an extended period. I did not object to it; I got dressed and proceeded downstairs.

He had overslept, an unusual occurrence for him, and as it was nearing the time for his first meeting, he was likely to miss breakfast in the pack-house and would probably have to forage for something in the kitchen.

His initial meeting of the day was with Alpha Alfred, who was en route to his office, a sandwich in hand and a mouthful of food, when he observed Lydia entering through the pack-house front doors, carrying her shoes and still clad in the same attire she had worn the previous evening at dinner.

Caelan locked eyes with him and raised an eyebrow while continuing to chew his mouthful. He paused upon seeing her, noting her dishevelled appearance and the presence of another individual. That was certain. She fixed her gaze upon him, tilting her head slightly as she enquired, “What?”She stated this and then proceeded past him towards the pack-house stairs. It was evident to him that she had been involved with others. Presumably the Alpha and Beta.

She turned and observed her departure up the stairs, while her father descended, frowning directly at her. His Alpha sense of smell would undoubtedly detect that she bore the scent of someone other than Caelan. Observed as the man grasped her arm and drew her near, they engaged in a private discourse via their Mind-Link, after which she forcefully extricated her arm from his grip and ascended the stairs.

The man turned to see Caelan’s gaze fixed upon him, his expression one of discontent. Caelan recognised that this meeting would soon become intriguing. He proceeded to his office, where MASON was seated at his desk. MASON looked up, nodded in acknowledgement, then ceased his previous activity and stood to relinquish the desk to Caelan.

“Lydia has just returned home,” he remarked.

“What?”Mason appeared utterly astonished.

“Continuing to don attire from the previous evening.” Her father observed that I observed her.

“Intriguing,” Mason acknowledged. “We must discuss Daisy.”

“What is the reason?”“He inquired.”

An unusual event occurred. I prefer that you do not receive this information from any other source.

“Very well.” Caelan gestured for him to proceed as he completed his breakfast.

“Her eyes radiated, akin to luminous neon lights.”

Caelan was now gazing at him, “What?”He enquired, although he had also considered last night that they appeared somewhat iridescent, attributing it to the streetlight illuminating them.

“All witnessed it.” I wanted to inform you before you hear it from another source.

“Alright.” he nodded “Might have to deal with it later.”

He had back to back meetings all day today, likely wouldn’t leave his office except for meals, and they were going to go right up until that formal dinner tonight.

Alpha Alfred sank down in the chair across from him, to discuss the alliance he had with Caelan ’s Pack, to bring about a new alliance now that he was in charge.
