As dinner concluded, he overheard several of the younger Alphas express their desire to venture into the town centre for a casual drink and entertainment. Caelan informed them of a fully stocked Alpha bar in the pack-house, attempting to dissuade them, although he was aware that it would be ineffective. They had alternative considerations; he merely acquiesced, as it would have been impolite to refuse, given that he had previously engaged in the same behaviour within their groups.
They were all seeking amenable she-wolves to accompany them to their quarters. He refrained from intervening, as he wished to avoid jeopardising the alliances he maintained with their respective packs. He had, however, sent Mason a message regarding them when his father proposed the Tavern, unknowingly aware that it was the location where his mother had dispatched Daisy and her friends for the evening. He informed them about Thiago’s, should they be interested in a nightclub ambiance. A significantly improved location for them to discover a receptive she-wolf. He did not believe any of them would encounter difficulties in locating a s****l partner.
Only one of the young Alphas knew the location and departed alone with his Beta. Caelan volunteered to accompany them, and they accepted his offer.
Observed Mason exiting the Tavern with his arm enveloping Daisy, exhibiting a possessive demeanour as if she were his. I overheard him declare, “Home now.” The connotation of those two words would not escape the notice of any Alphas or Betas in his vicinity; at the very least, it should deter them from approaching her while they remained present. Neither he nor Hudson was pleased with the tone or display, both seething internally.
Heard her response regarding his warning them to stay away from her, and Mason explicitly informed her that he was. She was unaware that he had been following the Alpha and Beta. Her attention was exclusively directed towards Mason, evidently irritated with him at this moment.
Caelan disapproved of her declaration that she was a free agent and could engage in s****l relations with whomever she desired. Technically, it was accurate; she was currently an unmated she-wolf. It is improbable that it would occur if he or Mason had their preference.
Directly enquired whether he felt envious of her potential interest in one of the attractive wolves. His jaw had tightened instantly over the comment and he’d stopped walking to stare at the woman. He waited for his Beta’s answer; actually, he was also curious about that. There wasn’t one at all, he just grabbed her hand and pulled her up the road away from the Tavern “Alpha.” he acknowledged Caelan as the came to where he was standing.
Saw her eyes move right to him a little wide in surprise, at seeing him, the silver in them a little brighter than normal he noted, wondered if it was just because it was dark out and that silver was gleaming in the light. Or because she was angry, eye colour did usually change with emotions.
He acknowledged him right back, then as he walked away towards the Tavern he heard her loudly and pointedly state, likely directed at him, that she was un-mated. Had to ignore it he could smell alcohol on her, scotch he recognised the scent.
Likely well on her way to being very drunk. Drinking it seemed loosened her tongue. Caelan stepped into the Tavern and found several she-wolves dancing on the dance floor, already had an Alpha and Beta being all hands on. Stayed put and had one drink with them out of courtesy, most of the alpha’s and beta’s were a bit on the hands-on side he noted. Not that any of his she-wolf’s seemed to mind at all.
More un-mated she-wolves arrived not long after he did and started drinking and dancing, he could smell the scent of arousal strongly, wrinkled his nose and downed his drink. It was going to turn into a free for all at some point, all them hot bloody horny wolves, likely be mating all over the pack without concern as to who saw. Left them to it, he did not want to see that, was glad Mason had removed Daisy.
Encountered Mason holding a beer, conversing with several of the other pack’s Betas; he looked directly at him and stated, “In her room, boss.” “Unhappy, indeed,” he conveyed to Caelan, fully aware of the unarticulated inquiry in Caelan’s mind. He was indifferent to her current unhappiness, focused instead on what he observed in the Tavern.
“Good,” he remarked. “I am going to bed; I will see you in the morning.” He proceeded towards the stairs. “The first meeting is at 9.”
“I am aware of the schedule, Caelan,” he responded.
Caelan acquiesced and proceeded to his chamber. Although it was not particularly late, he was indeed fatigued. He surveyed the first-floor corridor and wished she had secured her door. He contemplated verifying the situation personally, but ultimately opted not to do so. MASON would have secured it, and he was aware of this.
Lydia was absent, presumably still with her father; he seized the opportunity to enjoy a prolonged hot shower and unwind, alone for the first time that day. He then reclined in his bed to succumb to slumber.
