The Alpha’s Second Chance – Chapter 133

Diminished

“You feel intensely hot to me.” He conveyed his feelings, intoxicated merely by her touch. “It ignites my desire as well.” He nearly sighed but restrained himself; he had a strong urge to mate with her. Had Nolan not been present, admonishing him in a warning tone for losing control and frightening her, he likely would have. “I want to mate with you,” he finally admitted, as it was the truth and she deserved to know it, and he genuinely wished to express it. He straightforwardly conveyed his beliefs to her.

“Although I may not perceive your scent, I find myself unable to restrain my impulses when I make contact with you; that, I presume, is the nature of our bond.” He was certain it was indeed the case on his part.

He had never encountered anything in his life that approached the emotions she evoked in him; perhaps that was the hallmark of being a Sterling Mate.

Nolan remarked, “She does not appear attractive to me,” and Ryder felt a sense of relief upon hearing that. Another factor that convinced him she was his Mate was his explicit declaration that he would decapitate any man who touched her inappropriately.

I heard Nolan’s amused tone remark, “So possessive already,” and he was indeed correct. Although he permitted Nolan to escort her from the suite, he was acutely aware that he would be exceedingly possessive and protective of her; she had endured significant hardships, and he felt compelled to ensure her well-being henceforth.

She needed to discover a method to prevent her from remaining unnoticed within the Pack, as she was unwilling to revert to her previous state of invisibility. Upon reflection, who has she become?  Brianna Layla led a highly public life and was well-known by many individuals; Stella was correct in her assessment that Brianna Layla had never concealed her identity.

She had been in the human world, establishing a life where she was consistently recognised by others. She conducted interviews in magazines and on television, making her widely visible, likely socialising with the affluent, and gaining recognition not only in the United States but globally. She was not imperceptible to the humans, and that reassured her; she assimilated into their world far more effectively than her own.

She felt as though everyone in her life had forsaken her, not merely the Pack, but also her own family; she appeared indifferent to the Sterlings, asserting that they too had abandoned her. Ryder furrowed his brow, suddenly intrigued by that.

His father believed that Brianna had returned to her mother’s pack; however, it was evident that she had not. Surely, someone in the Sterling family would have sensed Anna’s departure and demise, been vigilant for Brianna, and contacted his father to enquire about the child. Why had they not?

Alpha Nathan had identified Rowan’s eyes, but had not recognised Brianna herself. She was his cousin, yet there was no familial connection; the term ‘cousin’ could denote a relationship that is twice or thrice removed, encompassing a broad range of meanings. She could unequivocally assert that she was his cousin, as both were members of the Sterling family, which he professed to belong to. Ryder would need to enquire himself.

He was uncertain how to address his past with her and could only attempt to begin anew, he presumed. She had not vacated the room in haste, which was presumably advantageous, and she exited in a relatively composed manner; however, this could have been attributed to Nolan’s influence, though he was uncertain.

Nolan re-entered the room and acknowledged, “She appears perplexed, but there is little I can do regarding that.” Concerned that Logan would observe her distressed condition. Upon our return to the room.

“Is she concerned that it will provoke Rowan?””

“Affirmative,” Nolan acknowledged, “and you believe I possess control issues.” You departed in under 10 seconds after making contact with her.

“Mm,” Ryder nodded, “it feels as though she is an exceedingly intoxicating substance.” “The moment I touch her,” he shook his head, “I must exercise caution.”

Nolan concurred, stating, “Indeed, I believe she is not prepared for that, Logan.”

“I am aware, not for some time.”

“What were Aiden’s feelings?””

“Famished.” One might assert.

“Did he intend to mark her?”Nolan enquired, exhibiting more curiosity than anything else.

“I am uncertain; he undoubtedly desired us to mate her,” he sighed. “He is subdued, anxious about Layla.”

“That constitutes an entirely separate matter.” “Her wolf.” Nolan shook his head. “I am uncertain; I could perceive her, but I doubt I could access her, as she has likely retreated deep within Brianna’s mind.”

“Are you typically able to sense the wolves?””

“Indeed, they exhibit diminished resistance compared to their human counterparts to my allure.” They are the first to experience tranquilly and attraction, desiring to acquiesce and yield. Not Layla, scarcely perceived her presence. It is peculiar.
