The Alpha’s Second Chance – Chapter 119

Unaccustomed

Another occurrence was transpiring; he merely lacked the knowledge of its nature. He surmised that it was necessary to ascertain. She gestured for him to proceed, even taking a half step back to avoid physical contact. She observed that Rowan retreated almost simultaneously with Layla, contemplating whether his young Alpha wolf was profoundly attuned to his mother, capable of sensing her advance and withdrawal without visual confirmation.

He could invariably discern when his mother’s wolf had gazed at him, even prior to acquiring his own wolf. She had passed away when he was merely 12, yet he could still remember always sensing her wolf’s presence, even in the absence of visual contact. Rowan might possess that himself.

Reflecting on his mother, he recognised that she was an early shifter, having acquired her wolf, Hallow, at the age of 10. This may explain why Rowan arrived early.

He immediately discerned that Brianna was significantly displeased upon learning that Stella was in Nolan’s room, likely suspecting that the man was exploiting her presence for his own benefit. Furthermore, Logan’s inquiry about whether all wolves instilled fear in everyone perpetually was somewhat painful, affecting both him and Aiden.

That single statement unequivocally indicated that all interactions his son had experienced with his peers were negative. He had never experienced a single pleasant interaction, aside from that with his mother. He found it entirely displeasing. Not all wolves are malevolent, fearsome beings; in fact, unless provoked, they typically lead contented lives, minding their own affairs.

In the realm of humanity, individuals typically exhibited good manners and politeness. Their human counterparts were aware of the folly in provoking others or engaging in conflict. If he had ever observed the interior of a pack, he would be aware of that fact. It caused him some distress as well.

I informed him that they did not and corrected him, explaining that it was an accident when he growled at Stella, similar to the incident in the hall when Layla growled at Luca.

Only to be informed unequivocally that it was no accident. He disapproved of that; Layla had intended every word, and her threat to his Beta was genuine. It is necessary to address that.

Observing Stella and Logan’s interaction was pleasant; they appeared to share a strong bond. I noted her embrace of the boy, indicating that physical contact with him was not perceived as a threat, whereas touching his mother was regarded as such. Extremely protective, as Nathan had asserted. I hoped that it would not pose a problem in the future.

He scowled when Brianna announced that Stella was injured and subsequently threatened his Gamma with Layla in Stella’s presence. He did apologise; he had genuinely overlooked Stella’s injury. He observed Nolan escort that woman into this hotel room; she appeared to be in good condition, merely fatigued. Had she sustained any injuries from Nolan or his wolf, they would have been aware and taken action, thus he did not even detect the woman for indications of harm.

A light scratch was discovered on both sides of her hips, caused by Oscar’s claws while removing her pants.

Nolan had established a mental connection with him. It was not serious; a minor quantity of blood, and it would be acceptable. Instructed the man to exercise greater caution in the future.

Observing their meal, the rapport between Stella and Logan was evident; she appeared at ease in the presence of the entire unit. She did not regard him with fear upon exiting Nolan’s room; she appeared to be perfectly fine.

Engaging with Logan in an effort to encourage him to consume her vegetables. It was evident that he had no desire to participate; this appeared to be commonplace.

Observed Logan at the table, casually swatting Stella’s fork aside and pushing her, indicating that this group dined together frequently. The boy engaged with her as if she were a typical member of his family. Regarded her as an aunt, which he considered a positive aspect.

Brianna smiled at their antics, shook her head several times, accustomed to witnessing such behaviour. He would not be surprised if, in a more favourable environment, she exhibited the same behaviour.

Brianna’s inadequate introduction of him to Logan, when he requested her assistance, was evident in her dismissive remark, “Logan, your father,” accompanied by a vague gesture. This display of disrespect was displeasing to him. She informed him that Logan was already aware of his identity and that she had not deceived the boy regarding who he was.

While that was beneficial, informing her that it was an improper introduction yielded no progress for him whatsoever.

She regarded him with an arched eyebrow and asserted that she could not precisely adhere to protocol, could she? She had him at a disadvantage, yet a more courteous approach could have been employed.

All he truly desired was for her to declare, ‘Logan, this is Ryder; he is your father.’ Was that such a difficult request? He disagreed. His desires and his reality were markedly dissimilar. She instructed him to introduce himself.

Both he and Aiden were increasingly exasperated by her demeanour and unwillingness to help in the present circumstances; they were both merely gazing at her, although Aiden, on the surface, could not do so with Stella present.

She had probably been a rogue for an extended period, accustomed to acting according to her own desires, at her own convenience, and in her preferred manner. West had cautioned him about this; his Mate had lived independently in the world, away from his pack, and was unaccustomed to following orders, preferring to act according to her own desires.  Brianna was destined to remain unchanged.
