The Alpha’s Second Chance – Chapter 114

Resemblance

“Thank you, Luca,” Logan acknowledged.

“Uncertain of Logan’s culinary preferences, I procured several options for him,” Ryder informed her. “Please take a seat; we shall await Nolan and Stella.”

Enzo, she observed, entered as the service lady exited. He opened the door for her to proceed.  Brianna observed the woman as she turned to regard all three of them, shook her head as if to dispel confusion, and then looked again, seemingly incredulous that they were indeed real.

Nolan arrived with Stella. “A few superficial scratches, nothing significant.” He gazed directly at her as he articulated this.

She glanced at Stella for validation of his assertion. She acknowledged her with a nod. She seated herself at the table only after Stella did. Logan positioned himself between her and Stella, likely perceiving a greater sense of security, she contemplated.

A plate of chicken and fries was placed before Logan. Ryder executed it personally. “Is this acceptable, Logan?” “If not, I possess a hamburger and fries for you.”

“It is acceptable,” Logan stated, yet he averted his gaze from the man. He was also discontented that his aunt had not only been incarcerated but had also sustained injuries, it appeared.

It is probable that Rowan could detect the scent of blood on his aunt.

Ryder additionally positioned a meal before Brianna. It was a medium-rare steak accompanied by vegetables, a quintessential dish for wolves, she contemplated. It was observed that he was cautious not to make physical contact with her, likely to avoid provoking Layla, who had already issued genuine threats to two members of his Unit.

They may have been akin to these creatures at some level, yet they had not inhabited the wolfen realm for many years, existing as humans, as they did not favour wolves or communal life. They did not desire to be touched by anyone.

Logan observed her meal, grimaced at the vegetables on her plate, and shook his head, whispering, “You must consume vegetables.”

“Mm,” was her only response. “Be grateful that you do not.”

“Disgusting, I refuse,” he asserted, shaking his head.

She could not suppress a smile as she observed him in this uncomfortable scenario; he obstinately rejected any vegetables on his plate. She heard Stella chuckle and then witnessed her brandish a piece of broccoli in front of him, prompting Logan to swat it away.

“Disgusting, remove it from my presence,” he exclaimed, pushing her hand away as she attempted to feed it to him, engaging in playful banter.

Stella recognised that the boy was reluctant to consume vegetables, although he would eat broccoli if compelled, as it was one of the vegetables she could persuade him to eat. Noticed the entire room was silent, with all four individuals observing the interactions between Logan and Stella.

It was entirely natural for her to witness, and for them to engage in, thus causing her no surprise, merely amusement in observation and sound. This was, however, the first occasion on which they observed Logan behaving normally and without fear of them. She presumed. She grasped her knife and fork; minimal conversation was anticipated.

They could not converse openly and freely about being wolves in Stella’s presence.

She consumed her meal silently while observing Stella harass Logan by attempting to make him eat various vegetables from her plate. It was endearing; even Layla found pleasure in observing him.

“Brianna?””

Her gaze shifted to Ryder across the table as a response. “Could you facilitate a proper introduction to Logan?””

“He is aware of your identity,” she stated plainly.

“Brianna, I request an introduction.” She gazed at him for several seconds before shrugging. “Logan, your father,” she gestured towards Ryder to indicate him to the boy. Ryder frowned directly at her, and she presumed he disapproved of her demeanour. What was the man’s desire? Extravagant features? Logan was already aware of his identity.

He narrowed his eyes at her, stating, “That is not an appropriate introduction, Brianna.”

She arched an eyebrow at him. “Consequently, I am uncertain about your desires.” “Protocol…” she paused. “Traditionally, it cannot be adhered to at this moment.” “Please introduce yourself in any manner you prefer, as I recommend.”

He was gazing directly at her, appearing to desire something from her, though she was uncertain of its nature. A person was seated at the table. She could not appropriately introduce him as the Alpha to his pack at this moment, could she?

His gaze shifted to Logan, who was observing their interaction. It is likely that Rowan was also in agreement, she contemplated. “Logan, my son.” I am Ryder Wood. I am your progenitor.

“I am aware,” he replied with a shrug. “My mother informed me when I enquired about your identity.” Brianna recognised a greater resemblance to herself in him than she had previously acknowledged. That shrug and his dismissive tone were entirely attributable to her.
