The Alpha’s Second Chance – Chapter 91

Overnight

Stella expressed her disdain for that message; a prosperous, reputable man implied that her father had indeed begun to investigate Carlos Patrick of Wood Industries and had found his biography favourable. No additional information. He likely included the phrase ‘your mother also agrees’ because she was significantly closer to her mother than her father.

The fifth message from Miguel reiterated, “Sienna, although this Carlos individual may possess wealth, he does not align with you or your family’s requirements.” I am the superior option. Contact me again so we can resolve this definitively.” However, in the background of the call, she could hear his current girlfriend urging him to end the conversation, as she had brought him lunch for them to share. Indeed, she perceived him as a despicable individual. Acquired a girlfriend while attempting to persuade another woman to return home for marriage.

It appeared to her that Miguel had investigated Carlos and disapproved of his findings, which could indicate one of two possibilities: either Carlos possessed greater wealth than Miguel, or he was aware that her father was favouring Carlos, prompting Miguel to attempt to regain control of the situation. He desired her father’s enterprise and could not obtain it without marrying into the family.

Message six reiterates her father’s sentiment: “Siennia, Carlos appears to be a true gentleman.” I spoke with him briefly as he was about to board a flight home. I now comprehend that the two of you engaged in a dispute. I am confident it can be resolved. Contact the man; he wishes to extend his apologies to you.

Her father, Sweet Goddess, had successfully established contact with Carlos himself. She could easily envision that phone call, presumably a welcoming gesture to the family, which likely extended an invitation for the man to join them for dinner. What is the reason for this recurring occurrence? She has consistently encountered men attempting to dominate her life. Her father consistently sought to arrange her marriage.

Miguel was always present, although she understood that he merely desired the family business; if he coveted it so intensely, he could pursue Juliette. He was not going to obtain it from her. She possessed no affiliation with her father’s enterprise and aimed to maintain that separation.

The voice message was from her biological mother, although it was sent from her father’s phone, suggesting some level of coordination. “Dear, it’s mother. Kindly return your father’s call.” He is becoming increasingly anxious to the extent that he is reluctant to leave the estate in Denver and return to his city flat,” she heard her father’s voice in the background assert, “It’s my damned house.” I will remain for as long as I desire.

He seized the phone from her mother’s hand and barked into the receiver, “Siennia Evans, if you do not return my call, I will proceed to Wood Industries to ascertain Carlos Patrick’s intentions regarding my daughter.” “Return my call immediately.”

Stella once more rolled her eyes; he should have realised by now that she did not acquiesce to his threats and would return his call at her own convenience, not at his insistence. Verified the timestamp of the message. All these calls had been distributed throughout the day she departed and travelled to Canada, unbeknownst to her family. She deliberately left her phone turned off, anticipating that either Carlos or Ryder Wood would have obtained her personal and work mobile numbers from Maria. I did not wish to converse with either of the possessive, arrogant men.

She had been reluctant to engage with any of them and contemplated whether this incessant desire to dominate her was the reason Brianna had departed from Ryder Wood’s company initially. He seemed to be as unyielding as her father.

They were both tenacious, unable to relinquish the matter. Both controlling and possessive men appeared omnipresent, capable of hunting and tracking with the vast financial resources at their disposal, leaving no avenue for escape. She and Brianna both preferred to maintain complete autonomy over their lives and disliked being directed by others.

She smiled at the thought, having witnessed Brianna confront several affluent and influential individuals, both male and female. She merely stood there and confronted them, as if the woman possessed no fear whatsoever. At least none that Stella had observed until Ryder Wood entered her store that day.

She had never observed Brianna so agitated, nor had she witnessed her flee from anyone. And she had fled. Stella heard the doors slamming shut in rapid succession as she exited the store. Observed the manner in which Ryder exited her office, rather than her studio. This was the first instance in which she observed Brianna exhibiting anything other than her usual composure.

The eighth message was from Miguel again. She exhaled in irritation, “It has been the entire day, Siennia.” I am finished waiting for you; your behaviour is consistently immature, and you ought to mature. I am to wed Anastasia Reyes. Not you. We have completed the task. Cease all further communication with me.

Any longer? The man was utterly delusional. She had never contacted him even once during the entire duration of their separation.

Ultimately, the man had relinquished his pursuit of her; it was long overdue. He was elated to receive that message, nearly exulting with joy upon hearing it. She sincerely wished that Anastasia Reyes was aware of his infidelity.

It was highly improbable that the woman possessed any knowledge. If Stella had not entered her father’s office block spontaneously that day to dine with her sister, she would have remained oblivious to his true nature and likely would have married him herself.

The ninth message was once more from her father: “Siennia, I am exceedingly disappointed in you.” I have just discovered that you have departed the country and travelled to Canada. This is utterly intolerable. Return home immediately, or I will dispatch Miguel to retrieve you.
