It is hoped that the woman will be fine and will assume they are in a relationship, without fleeing upon learning the truth. Enzo did not anticipate that Nolan would designate the woman. That would be exceedingly foolish, as the proximity of the full moon left insufficient time to elucidate the situation or discuss the transformation she would experience.
I called Ryder’s number, and he answered immediately, asking, “Did you receive the information?””
“No, Nolan, I believe it is…,” how does one articulate this without inciting their Alpha’s ire? “Attempting to mate with his human partner.”
“What?””
“Currently asserting ownership over her.” “I will not enter there to attempt to prevent it,” he asserted, presumably to provoke a severe reaction.
“Bloody hell.” He perceived Ryder’s irritation regarding the present circumstances.
“It will undoubtedly be chaotic, Ryder.” He successfully elicited her to utter the phrase “I’m yours.” Enzo shook his head; a prolonged silence ensued on the other end of the queue, followed by a deep sigh.
“There is little I can do about it from the opposite side of the country.” If she is his mate, he will be unable to persuade her to relinquish Brianna regardless.
“It is improbable,” Enzo concurred. “I will attempt to converse with her when they cease their altercation.”
“Keep me informed, and Enzo, reprimand that fool for his foolishness.” “This is not how it is done,” the line was disconnected.
Enzo smiled to himself, granted the opportunity to strike the Gamma without facing any repercussions. He greatly appreciated that concept. He located a chair and settled himself comfortably in the hallway adjacent to the room, preferring not to overhear the proceedings between them. Nolan, having dozed off while unwinding for the night, was unlikely to exit that room until morning.
Awoke to Nolan’s voice resonating in his mind, ‘Enzo.’
“Indeed, you are mistaken,” Enzo retorted, his disapproval evident in both his tone and diction.
Nolan audibly chuckled, understanding the implication of the insult: ‘Brianna is at her store, as Stella informed me, on the verge of dozing off.’
“I observe you have discovered a method to circumvent her resistance to your allure.”
“I did.” He sounded arrogant and pleased with his capacity to extract that information from her. It may not be received favourably upon her awakening and realisation. Probably just irritate the woman. He was aware of that through personal experience.
‘Ryder stated that I must strike you for your foolishness.’
Did you inform him?‘
“I have completed the task; we ought to depart now.”
“In the morning,” the man yawned, “I am fatigued. Inform the boss of Stella’s remarks; there is nothing we can accomplish from this distant location on the east coast, regardless.”
“You will need to provide an explanation, and not solely to her.” Enzo severed the connection. Indeed, he would need to justify his actions to her, to his Alpha, and to his mother. He faced multiple lectures and probably one severe reprimand.
He retrieved his phone and messaged Ryder that Stella, in her semi-conscious state, claimed that “Brianna was at her store.”
“Which establishment?”“had returned immediately to him.”
“I am uncertain; I did not derive much from her.”
Received an irritated emoji from the individual, followed by no further communication.
Awoke to observe Stella attempting to pass by him stealthily, or so he presumed. She was barefoot, holding her shoes in her hands, and glanced at him, while he looked at her neck as he sat up gradually. Mark’s absence was advantageous. He directed his gaze down the corridor in search of Nolan. Nolan was absent.
It appeared that the girl was experiencing the walk of shame, as his gaze returned to her immediately. She bit her lip while gazing directly at him. Unbeknownst to her, Nolan would not acquiesce to her minor escapade. She belonged to him now.
“Where are you headed, young lady?”He extended his body, experiencing slight stiffness from sleeping in the chair.
“Breakfast,” she uttered, yet her heart rate accelerated; it was a falsehood.
“I would advise against attempting to flee, Stella.” “Mr. Scrumptious in there,” he gestured with his thumb towards the room where she had left Nolan, “I will likely become quite angry.”
The woman’s eyes widened significantly at his use of the nickname she and Brianna had assigned to Nolan, after which she abruptly fled down the hallway; being her family home, she was familiar with every corner of the house. He exhaled audibly and shook his head; he could intervene and halt her, but not his Mate, and Nolan had reversed the situation. This was the consequence of that decision.
He communicated telepathically to the man, ‘Nolan, your human companion is fleeing from you.’ He expressed this with evident amusement at the unfolding situation.
He was not the sole individual to perceive the formidable snarl emanating from Nolan in the room where he had spent the night with her, nor to witness a completely unclothed Nolan burst through the door moments later, his gaze fixed intently on Stella down the hallway. Who would stop at the end of the corridor upon hearing that intensely aggressive, irate snarl.
She was now gazing directly at Nolan, biting her lip in his direction. She was acutely aware of her predicament. Her facial expression revealed her awareness of the underlying complexities; she recognised that her involvement with Nolan had exceeded her initial expectations.
Observed her falter when Nolan called her name, and briefly considered that she might cease her flight and return to him.
He realised he had indeed contemplated it. Perhaps their connection was influential, as Nolan had persuaded her to acknowledge him. She then disappeared around the corner, and he could hear her running.
