The Alpha’s Secret Mate – Chapter 84

Swift

“You imbecile!”The boy yelled, brushing aside his greasy hair as he pursued her. She seized the candles from the bedside table and hurled them at his head. “Ow, you wretch!”

“Depart from my presence!”Molly screamed and hurled a glass vase at the older individual as he attempted to approach her. The vase shattered upon impact with his head, scattering bloody shards across the floor. “What do you want from me?!”

“Nathaniel dispatched us,” the boy retorted. “He would have come personally had he not been tending to his severed tongue.” He requested that we ensure your well-being prior to morning.” The boy stepped over the shattered glass. “Therefore, why don’t you approach us amicably so we can conclude this matter?”

“You are entirely irrational if you believe you can approach me!”Molly seized the fire poker adjacent to the fireplace and raised it between them. She swung it at his head as he advanced another step. The boy ducked just in time, regrettably.

“I am fed up with this; come here!”The elderly man bellowed. Molly struck him with the fire poker, impacting the side of his head. He collapsed with a resounding thud. While she was momentarily preoccupied, the boy subdued her by tackling her to the ground and restraining her wrists above her head.

“Typically, I prefer a girl who is assertive, but not this evening,” he spat through clenched teeth. Molly struck him in the groin, yet he merely tightened his hold and groaned. “Where is your companion tonight, hmm?” Are you referring to the grand palace you abandoned?

Molly inclined her head to bite his wrist, yet the boy merely chuckled. “I typically would not pursue another wolf’s mate, but I am confident he will not object to my sampling.”

I believed you were here to assassinate me!Molly shouted, hoping someone would eventually hear her and come to her aid, but-

Perhaps she did not require assistance. Perhaps she was capable of rescuing herself. Molly observed the older man, who lay unconscious in his own blood. If she could extricate herself from the boy’s grasp…

“I will also do that; do not hasten me.” The boy smirked as though he were attempting to flirt with her. Molly understood that wolves were not gentle suitors, yet this boy was unhinged if he found any of this appealing.

He bent down to lick her neck, eliciting a shiver of revulsion from her. “It has been a considerable duration since an attractive woman passed through here.” All individuals present are either too youthful or committed.

“You are repulsive.” Molly spat on his face. He let go of one of her wrists to wipe it off. Molly swiftly seized the nearest shard of glass within her reach.

“Do not engage in unconventional behaviour with me, dear.” “I do not restrain my emotions,” he snarled before striking her forcefully across the face. He slid his free hand up her gown, prompting Molly to stab him in the neck.

His blood obscured her vision upon the removal of the glass. Time seemed to decelerate as he clutched the side of his neck, where blood flowed profusely. His eyes appeared to bulge from their sockets as he gazed at her in incredulity, unable to fathom that she had indeed defended herself against him.

Molly forcefully shoved him away, causing him to collapse beside his companion like a lifeless mass. She hastily rose from the floor and grasped the bedpost. The boy remained motionless, gazing at the ceiling with vacant eyes. The older man continued to breathe, despite his significant blood loss. She had…

She committed homicide.

Molly donned her cloak and hastily slipped on her boots before rushing out the door into the frigid snow. A fierce wind whipped through her hair, nearly dislodging her cloak from her shoulders. She was utterly alone, with no one else in sight.

Molly looked back at the cabin and observed her own footprints tainted with blood in the snow. She then sprinted towards the location Colton indicated for his cabin. She pounded on the door with urgency, exerting maximum force. She was wary of seeking assistance from anyone else. What if they were concerned for those she had injured? What if—

What if Colton reprimanded her for her actions? Molly recoiled from the door and hastened away before he could open it. She faltered in the snow and struggled against the intensifying winds. Where could she seek refuge? For the first time, she longed for Jayce’s presence. She yearned for him to return her to the palace, where she could once again reside in her familiar discomfort, far removed from this place.

Molly!Colton yelled above the wind. She turned to observe him and Leah partially clothed, donning jackets. Molly felt resentment towards herself.

He advanced with the swiftness of a tempest, reaching her side within moments. He grasped her arm delicately and pivoted her to confront him. Upon observing the blood staining the front of her nightgown, his expression soured.

"Alpha Prince, stop this madness! Can’t you see all I want is to leave this place, to be free of these suffocating walls and your overbearing presence? Do you think that just because fate bound us as mates, it gives you the right to claim dominion over me and this palace? You’re mistaken—horribly mistaken. You may call yourself a Prince, but your crown means nothing here. This is my domain, and the only place you’ll ever remain is beneath me, forever shackled by your arrogance and blinded by your pride."
