“You’re not leaving either!” With that, he grabbed her arm and threw her onto the bed. Sophia’s whole body fell onto the bed, and her elbow hit the bed frame painfully. She rubbed her elbow, expressionless, and reached for a few needles by the bedside.
Living in the Scott household wasn’t safe, so she kept needles by her bed just in case. It seemed tonight they’d come in handy.
She tucked the needles into her clothes, still staring at Scott Henry without changing her expression.
Seeing her like this, Scott Henry, who had initially been acting with a purpose, now felt a bit of genuine attraction.
At this moment, Sophia’s cheeks were rosy, her lips a deep red. She had put on light makeup when going out, enhancing her already beautiful features. Perhaps due to the soft evening breeze, her entire demeanor carried an air of relaxed allure, one that Scott Henry found irresistible for the first time.
He suddenly realized he had never truly understood Sophia.
He had never thought she was beautiful, but in reality, her looks surpassed many celebrities.
Sophia reached into her pocket and pressed the record button on her phone.
“Sophia…” overcome with l**t, he lunged at her eagerly. “Let’s make up! Give me another chance, and I promise I’ll treat you well!”
“Oh?” Sophia raised an eyebrow. “What about Olivia and the child she’s carrying?”
Scott Henry froze, unable to respond, and Sophia looked at him with a sneer.
“Tsk, tsk! You’re dreaming. Don’t you think Olivia would be devastated if she heard you say this?”
Scott Henry smiled sheepishly. “I’ll handle things with her. You don’t need to worry. At most, I’ll keep her and the child out of sight.”
Sophia laughed outright, amused by his arrogance. “Is that confidence something you got from a pep talk or sheer delusion?”
“What?”
“I have three words for you,” Sophia smirked. “Dream on!”
Scott Henry’s expression turned cold, clearly angered. He propped himself on his hands, pinning her down on the bed, and demanded, “Sophia, I won’t let you refuse! We’re still married, yet you won’t let me near you. Are you seeing another man? Is that why you’re coming home so late? Out with some other man?”
He recalled that Olivia had once claimed Sophia was seeing someone else, and jealousy clouded his mind.
Enraged, he suddenly leaned down, aiming to kiss her neck.
Sophia raised her hand, unhurried.
Moments later, Scott Henry found himself paralyzed, unable to move, lying helplessly on the bed.
Sophia sat up, smirking at the needles embedded in his body. “Here’s some advice: never mess with a doctor!”
—
Meanwhile, Scott Livinus stood on the balcony, holding a glass of red wine. The night sky was pitch black, and without any lights around, his expression remained hidden in the darkness.
From the room next door came the occasional sound of a man’s labored breathing.
The sound made Scott Livinus feel a bit unsettled.
This wasn’t his usual demeanor—after all, they were husband and wife, and whatever they did was normal. But he couldn’t deny the irritation and frustration brewing within him.
Thinking this, Scott Livinus’s expression grew darker.
The next morning, Andrea exchanged a pleased glance with her husband, Scott Richard, as they sat down at the dining table, both smiling and in good spirits.
Aunty Lizzy, serve an extra bowl of rice for the young madam,” Andrea instructed.
Aunty Lizzy was taken aback. Normally, Andrea didn’t allow anyone to serve Sophia, so she wondered what had changed this morning. “Yes, ma’am.”
Just then, Scott Livinus, dressed in a suit, and Sophia, wearing a black skirt, came downstairs together.
Andrea stared at them, stunned for a moment. For some reason, she suddenly felt a strange illusion—that they looked extremely well-matched in both height and appearance. She shook her head, dismissing the thought. How could her brother-in-law and her daughter-in-law ever be compatible?
Scott Livinus glanced at Sophia with a cold, stern look.
Sophia frowned, thinking to herself that he must still be holding a grudge because of the damage to his car. She hadn’t even refused to pay for it!
Andrea smiled and said, “Sophia, where’s Scott Henry? Is he still asleep? He’s young, but he seems to lack stamina.”
Sophia’s lips curved slightly, and she picked up her cutlery. As she did so, Aunty Lizzy suddenly cried out.
“Blood! Blood!”
Andrea looked closer and gasped her heart racing.
Sophia’s hands were covered in fresh blood, which dripped from her fingers onto the table, creating a stark contrast against the black surface.
“Where… where did this blood come from?” Andrea asked, glancing upstairs. Her breath hitched as she staggered in shock. “Oh my God! My Scott Henry! Did you kill him, Sophia? Did you kill Scott Henry?”
She had wondered why it seemed so quiet last night and why Sophia seemed too easy to handle. It turned out Sophia had killed Scott Henry!
Andrea was so terrified she almost collapsed, while Sophia simply smiled faintly, her gaze fixed on Andrea, neither denying nor confirming her accusation.
This only solidified Andrea’s belief, and she immediately ran upstairs, sobbing.
“Scott Henry! My Scott Henry! Has someone killed you?”
Her cries stirred unease in everyone at the table. Mr. and Mrs. Scott immediately headed upstairs, with Scott Richard supporting Andrea as she rushed up in a panic.
Everyone left.
Only Sophia and Scott Livinus remained, calmly eating breakfast across the table from each other.
From upstairs came chaotic noises, seemingly because Sophia had locked the door, adding to everyone’s fright.
They grabbed a hoe and hammer and began trying to break down the door.
Bang, bang! After a long struggle, they finally managed to break it open.
After finishing her meal, Sophia glanced at Scott Livinus curiously, only to see that his expression remained calm.
“Aren’t you worried about your nephew?”
Scott Livinus’s dark eyes narrowed slightly, his tone cold. “Your skills aren’t that poor.”
“What do you mean?”
Scott Livinus looked up and spoke in a low voice. “If you were truly planning to kill someone, you have many ways to do it. You wouldn’t leave yourself covered in blood.”
His deep eyes seemed endless, as if they could pull someone in.
Sophia smiled, unexpectedly impressed. He actually knew her quite well.
She was meticulous, a neat freak. She could kill someone with a single prescription if she wanted. There was no way she’d make such a mess.
“Thanks for the compliment!”
Scott Livinus seemed to be lost in thought, ate a piece of bread, and then stood up, picking up his briefcase.
Meanwhile, the group upstairs kicked the door open. Scott, Richard, and Andrea entered the room, expecting to see blood everywhere, but instead found the room spotless. The “victim,” Scott Henry, was lying in bed, sound asleep, snoring.
The entire group was left speechless.
What an awkward moment…
Mr. Scott was the first to grasp the situation, glaring at Andrea and saying in a cold voice:
“Making a fuss over nothing! Accusing someone of murder without any evidence! Look at the mess you’ve caused!”
