Hell John had permitted Joe to name his daughter, according to Caelan’s understanding. At the age of four, he attempted to assert ownership over the newborn girl, as Caelan had heard. It must have been entertaining to observe a four-year-old boy, a prospective Beta of the pack, asserting that a newborn merely hours old belonged to him.
“Wesson bit her; she appeared unexpectedly, startling Wesson.” The man informed Mason without hesitation.
“Why did you not promptly inform the Alpha and reveal the injury you caused to your own child?””
“What is the rationale for one?”He gazed directly at Caelan. “He would be indifferent; it is Daisy.” Beta, you must have sensed it and rushed over, did you not?”
Caelan observed Mason, who emanated anger. “That is not the issue,” he retorted to John.
“Be cautious with your words, John; I am concerned for all my pack members,” Caelan retorted. The man had never witnessed the dynamics of his relationship with the girl; he merely maintained the ominous threat of notifying the council should he decline her advances.
John shrugged, stating, “She fled; it was already accomplished, and I have a boundary to oversee.” I was unable to pursue her. I did, indeed, apologise.
Caelan believed that was entirely untrue. The man appeared entirely unconcerned, he recognised. Was just standing there in front of him and Mason answering the questions. Had not asked how his daughter was, in fact, it should have been the man’s first question.
“I want a written report on my desk. If l am unhappy with it, you’ll be put in the cells” Caelan stated calmly. Mason was more than angry enough for the both of them.
Caelan saw Mason glare right at him, didn’t like Caelan’s lack of reaction to the situation.
“Yes, Alpha by 7am on your desk.” John stated, and then turned and shifted back into his wolf and returned to patrol. Interesting, he’d not been dismissed by him or the ask Beta, thought it was over did he and could leave.
‘Calm down Mason’ Caelan Mind-Link him’ I was looking for something, he hasn’t once asked how Daisy is.’
‘I know that.’ he grated right back.
‘No remorse… when that report comes in, he’s all yours, be patient. He’ll be expecting nothing’
I’m going to beat it out of him. Why he did it?
‘You have my permission,’ Caelan told him.
Better that Mason do it. Daisy would not harbour resentment towards Mason for the incident; however, she would likely despise Caelan indefinitely, which he wished to avoid. Mason was aware that he could probably evade consequences for murdering the man. Caelan, however, was not as significantly affected due to their extensive history.
“I did not dismiss him either, yet he abruptly departed, Mason. Perhaps the man still believes he possesses authority and is not obligated to justify his actions to us.”
Mason asserted, “That is inherently punishable.”
It is. Allow the man to incriminate himself. Then you may possess him.
Are you attending to observe?’
“Yes, Mason,” Caelan considered the question to be foolish; he would undoubtedly be present.
His whole Alpha Unit was in his office waiting for the man to arrive. Both Alex and Cole had been informed of the man’s infraction. Alex had frowned deeply and Cole had simply shaken his head and called the man stupid, as his eyes had moved to Mason They all knew Mason wouldn’t stand for anyone hurting the woman, not even their own Alpha. They’d actually seen the two of them slug it out once or twice. Stayed out of it, understood why he supposed. Seeing as everyone believed Mason was likely to end up as her Goddess-Gifted Mate and Caelan was Mated to her at the time.
John walked into Caelans office didn’t even knock, he noted. That door did stand open, waiting on him, but that did not give the man the right to walk in unannounced. His eyes moved around the room. Mason was right there next to the door, Alex and Cole leaning on the back of the leather couch that they used sometimes to just sit and drink on at he end of a long hard day.
He was standing right next to his desk, would have been sitting but, like Mason was expecting the man to try and run, he wanted a clear line at him. Not that he was likely to get past his unit at all. The man could fight though and very well. That’s why he was on border patrol, good at taking down rogues.
Liked it as well, from what Caelan could tell. He’d stayed out on border patrol even when he’d been ranked up while Caelan and Daisy had been Mated to each other, stated he was happy out there protecting the pack. Caelan’s father had left him out there, less contact with Caelan, seeing as he always pulled the night shift. Which meant the man slept during the day and had minimal contact with Caelan. A bonus.
