Daisy’s Perspective
Gazing intently into Caelan’s profound dark green eyes from a mere inch away, her heart rate accelerated. She had not anticipated encountering him. Daisy was momentarily at a loss for words to express to him. She had not anticipated him pursuing her, much less undertaking the task personally.
She believed that if he desired her return to the pack, he would have dispatched some of his trackers or perhaps his retrieval team. Mason is likely the most viable option. Caelan recognised that her relationship with Mason was strong, and she entrusted him with her life. He would probably be the most suitable individual to retrieve her and return her to the pack without any issues.
However, for Caelan to attend in person. Immediately thereafter, he assumed control of the pack. Would have needed to depart the day following the takeover to be present here. That further perplexed her regarding him.
He had remained silent upon her arrival, and when he eventually spoke, his tone was somewhat menacing.
It was evident that he was displeased with her return to the pack. So why was he here?
She could tell from his words he was still unhappy.
Why he had touched her like that, was in fact still touching her, she didn’t understand that at all. His fingers had brushed down her neck softly, almost intimately. That’s how it would look to anyone watching. All the way down to her mark spot, he currently still had his hand resting on it.
Kind of felt a little bit like he was trying to make a point. If there had been other wolves around, or any shifters for that matter, it would have made a very clear statement to them all.
That she belonged to him. You did not merely touch individuals’ mark spots, as it was an excessively intimate gesture to be trivialised.
They were no longer companions. Indeed, she preserved the scar from his bite, just as he did from hers; however, throughout their entire relationship, he had never once touched it. The sole instance of his possessiveness was directed towards her unclothed form. Aside from that, nothing else.
She distinctly heard him in her mind declare, “I’m your Alpha now,” and internally sighed, recognising that he would once again assert his dominance over her. What is the reason? Upon having Lydia, would he exhibit any concern?
Daisy believed, frankly, he would have been pleased to see her departure following Hudson and Amelia’s recent mating. Contrary to both his and her desires. However, he was attempting to escort her home.
He removed her chair, and she realised at that moment that she would indeed have to rise and depart. Alternatively, he would physically dominate her in the presence of the entire restaurant. She had no doubt regarding his capability or willingness to accomplish it. I rose and departed to avoid causing a disturbance. She doubted that Caelan would be concerned about that. The man acted according to his desires.
Daisy was entirely unsurprised to observe Mason standing nearby, given that he was now officially the Beta of the pack.
The Beta followed the Alpha, a common occurrence in werewolf packs. She smiled at him, greeted him, and embraced him, saying, “Good to see you again.”
“I am relieved that you are well,” he replied, lightly tapping his fist against her chin, after which she turned and walked alongside him.
Arguing or attempting to escape was futile; both individuals would outpace her, and fleeing from Caelan, who had come personally to collect her, would likely infuriate him.
Daisy felt compelled to discuss the remarkable experiences she had encountered here and enquired of MASON his opinion on Canada. He had appreciated what he had observed thus far. Although discussed in a business context, Daisy is not associated with pleasure.
She presumed she was that enterprise.
They conversed throughout the journey to the vehicle. Caelan remained silent. The man had never engaged in conversation with her or afforded her any attention in public. Consequently, she was not at all surprised and understood it was unwise to initiate a conversation with him. She had endeavoured during the initial year of their Mate Bond, yet it yielded no results. He was present today, asserting his dominance and reclaiming what he presumed to be his, she surmised. Technically, she was obligated, as a member of his pack.
She briefly contemplated what he was thinking as she observed him lean down to engage the child safety lock on the car door, ensuring she could not exit without permission. However, did not enquire. He would converse with her only if he chose to do so. That was the established norm. She was aware that nothing had altered in that regard.
Daisy observed Mason as he reclined on her bed, making himself at ease as if it were his own room, devoid of any concerns. She smiled at him and playfully suggested that he might require a nap. He chuckled and affirmed that he had overexerted himself by incapacitating four individuals today.
That caused her to halt and regard him. She snorted and laughed. Indeed, no human would pose a challenge for Mason; it would likely be effortless. A single deep, aggressive growl from Lark would likely have caused them all to flee in terror.
She now comprehended why Micah Garcia appeared apologetic and anxious; they had undoubtedly been intimidated by Caelan, and Mason had clearly demonstrated his physical dominance to convey Caelan’s message.
Daisy recognised that Micah had not provoked Caelan’s wrath.
