“Indeed, his Alpha Genes render him exceptionally strong. Regrettably, he will resemble her, myself, and all the Dieng lineage; while most males are satisfactory, the females, however,” he sighed, gazing out the side window.
“Nonetheless?”
“They often meet an untimely demise at a young age if they lack self-awareness, typically at the hands of their own pack,” the man remarked with a tone of sorrow.
Ryder’s gaze shifted to the man, filled with inquiry. He was displeased with the information he was receiving.
“Expound”
“I would prefer not to,” he said, gazing at Ryder. “What was the method of conception for the child?”
Ryder’s jaw clenched. “I would prefer not to,” he retorted, employing the man’s own words, and then turned to face forward once more.
“If it was r**e, Ryder, I shall challenge you to an Alpha duel to the death,” he remarked nonchalantly.
Ryder comprehended the sincerity of his intent; not only did he mean it, but he also did not intend to lose that duel. He had witnessed the man’s combat prowess; he was a formidable adversary.
“That is not the case,” he asserted. “I have never done that to anyone.”
“I do not wish for her to assert that it was. I will enquire of her. I shall trust her statements above those of others and respond accordingly. Your father has a pact with mine concerning that girl, ensuring her safety from your pack.” He snorted, sounding somewhat amused.
“You may wish to excavate it, Ryder, and peruse it personally.”
Luca parked the car in front of Brianna’s residence. They all exited, and he observed Nathan activate a small black device, causing the garage door to open. The man then casually entered the house, ascending the stairs as if he were entitled to be there, and proceeded to let himself in as though he had visited previously.
They waited outside by his vehicle for 20 minutes, during which additional wolves belonging to the man arrived. He immediately recognised the man’s Beta, Braxton. “Alpha Ryder, Luca,” he acknowledged them both with a nod as he approached.
“Is the boss still present?”
“In pursuit of passports.” Ryder acknowledged.
“Hm,” he remarked while leaning against the adjacent car, “She’s quite a handful, I observe.” He smiled, “Much like her mother and, for that matter, her grandmother.”
Ryder remained silent, observing Nathan emerge empty-handed while shaking his head. “I couldn’t locate them.”
“Luca suggested, ‘She is probably always in possession of them; being a rogue, she would likely keep them accessible for situations such as this.'”
Ryder exhaled, as did Nathan.
“Ryder, I would be grateful if you would allow me and my associates to manage my cousin. Bring her in and ensure she comprehends her identity before you assert your claim to the boy.”
“It is not solely the boy, Nathan. I am convinced she is my Mate,” he informed the man.
His attention was captured, and he gazed intently at Ryder, a profound frown etched on his face. “You could not be aware of this. It would be imperceptible to you.”
“She is. I do not detect any odour whatsoever, but…”
“However?”
“An incident occurred,” he sighed. “Only a select few are aware of what I am about to disclose.”
“No one in this vicinity will discuss it.” Nathan
I experienced the anguish of rejection without having a Mate. Additionally, it was the day Brianna defected from the pack, which intensified my suffering. My Gamma simultaneously sensed her distress from the rejection, leading us to believe she is my Mate.
“It is peculiar, but if she has declined you, your connection is terminated.”
“It was not communicated directly to me. I awoke in distress, unaware of the circumstances. Furthermore, I have never acknowledged it, as I was oblivious to the existence of a Mate.”
“Subsequently?”
“It is a lengthy narrative, perhaps for another occasion.”
“I will bring her in and inform you upon my arrival. Is that acceptable to you?”
“I disapprove,” he confessed, “but due to specific unfortunate circumstances, Brianna is under the impression that Sadie is my Mate. Neither I nor any of my associates have managed to establish even a phone call with her to clarify that this is not the case.”
“How could anyone possibly believe that your younger sister is your Mate?” he enquired, shaking his head in apparent confusion and discontent.
“Sadie insisted on acquiring a Brianna Layla gown, and I ultimately acquiesced, dispatching my unit to ensure her safety during her visit… This decision did not yield favourable results.”
“So well?” Luca scoffed. “She caused Sadie to weep.”
Nathan immediately comprehended, shaking his head. “And you, the overprotective elder brother, intervened and attempted to impose regulations, insisting that Sadie receives her desires, correct? Furthermore, the Alpha is adamant about a Luna gown for a girl.”
“Affirmative.” Ryder nodded succinctly.
“Foolish Ryder.”
“How was I to be aware? I was unaware that Brianna Layla was a former pack member.”
“How do you possess this knowledge now?”
