Ryder scowled and surveyed the lower level. There was an absence of objects, including a vase. Essential furnishings exclusively. There are no art prints on the walls, nor any souvenirs from their extensive travels around the globe.
Ascended the stairs and observed the expansive living area, which exuded a gaming ambiance. The boys’ room, presumably Logan’s space, was cluttered with various items. Upon his return to her room, he observed that neither bedside table contained anything except a phone docking and recharging station. The walls bore no prints; it was a clutter-free bedroom devoid of personal touches, save for a few photographs. There was nothing that indicated her identity.
Entered her en-suite and observed the dual sinks, which contained only the essential items: a toothbrush, toothpaste, a hairbrush, deodorant, and a single bottle of moisturiser. There is no clutter here either; having observed numerous female bathrooms, he noted they were filled with products, makeup, hair dryers, straighteners, curlers, perfumes, and various other items.
Upon opening the drawers, only the top one contained items—makeup—neatly organised for visibility. Opened the cupboards and discovered only a hair straightener and a curling iron. Only fundamental necessities.
She turned and entered her closet, which was filled with clothing ranging from gym attire to casual jeans and t-shirts, several summer dresses and a section dedicated to suits, presumably for work. Additionally possessed numerous evening gowns and cocktail dresses. Adequate apparel for every occasion.
He observed three large, unadorned suitcases on the floor against the back wall. Logan frowned as he surveyed his surroundings; he possessed everything he could desire, while Brianna had nothing, which was peculiar.
“What is the matter, Ryder?”Luca enquired of him.
“It is peculiar; Logan resides here, yet she does not.” It is entirely focused on Logan, with no consideration for her whatsoever. “As if she does not…” He shook his head, uncertain.
“Perhaps having fewer possessions reduces the time required for packing.” He suggested that considering a future campaign as a rogue may necessitate occasional retreats, thus rendering the collection of items seemingly pointless.
“That may be the case, but why is Logan’s room overflowing?”Ryder negated with a shake of his head. “It is peculiar, as if she desires to conceal her true self from her visitors.”
“She may not,” Luca sighed. “She has been independent for an extended period, Ryder.”
“It is detrimental for wolves to exist in solitude,” he lamented. It was unfavourable, as they were inherently social beings. She had distanced herself from her kin for valid reasons, yet all he perceived in her dwelling was a lack of personal connection. He recognised the sense of loneliness. Her section of the house was frigid and desolate, prompting her to contemplate whether that reflected her true emotions.
Luca concurred, “No, it is not.” “We should depart before she returns home.”
“She will detect my presence here regardless.”
“I am aware that you handled all items, including hers.”
Luca was once more smiling. “Let us verify Logan’s status once more before formulating a course of action.”
“She will flee upon realising that I am aware of Logan,” Ryder sighed heavily.
“She will not venture far, as she manages three businesses, Ryder; she is aware of your surveillance, has not departed, merely attempting to minimise her exposure to you, and once she discovers that Sadie is your younger sister, the dynamics between you will change.” I am certain of it.
Brianna’s Perspective
Brianna detected the male Canadian accent in the store, prompting an immediate reaction from Layla within her consciousness. He stated that his name was Nathan Avery and that he wished to see Brianna Layla.
She rose from her desk as silently as possible and proceeded to the rear door, poised to exit the building when she heard him, his tone distinctly amused, say, ‘Tell Brianna not to leave; my men are out back’.
She paused her hand on the door handle; he had been attentively listening for her with his Alpha Wolf hearing. He may have been conversing with Maria downstairs, yet he was aware that she would overhear him; this was not what she required at this moment.
Two ruthless Alphas pursuing her, both attempting to coerce her into garment creation; why do Alpha wolves exhibit such a lack of respect for others?
She gazed out the door onto her balcony and down the staircase, observing a man nonchalantly leaning against the railing at the bottom. He gazed directly at her, smiled, and appeared to be amused by her. Clearly, he had been informed of her probable departure, and they were ready for it.
She re-entered her office, hearing Maria ascend the stairs along with the footsteps behind her, and returned to her desk to sit down again.
Escape was impossible. He had indicated his men, which held no significance for Maria; however, for Brianna, it signified that his Alpha Unit accompanied him.
It was highly improbable that she could escape from them. She had observed only one, yet he had positioned himself deliberately in a visible location. The other two could be located anywhere, whether in the alley or obstructing all exits to her building. That was the probable stance.
