My body quaked involuntarily as they seized an arm each and dragged me away from the wall.
“Please…” I implored, tears cascading down my face. “I did nothing wrong!”
“Release her!”Ashton commanded.
The guards intensified their hold on my arms; I grimaced at their strength and the accompanying pain.
Who else would attempt to poison Lady Vera?Jack enquired, regarding me once again.
“I would never attempt to poison my own lady,” I exclaimed.
That merely elicited a scoff from Jack.
“Are you asserting that you attempted to poison the queen?”He chuckled.
“Certainly not,” I exclaimed once more. “An error has occurred.”
“I do not commit errors,” Jack hissed.
“Jack, exercise reason,” Abel stated.
“I am uncertain about your association with this maid, but it is not benefiting you,” Jack snarled at him.
Abel stiffened at his remarks and cast an apologetic look in my direction.
“Remove her from this location,” commanded Alpha King Elliott to the guards.
(Perspective of Jayce)
How could you permit them to abduct her? “You know she would never commit such an act,” Zayden exclaimed as they observed the guards escorting Molly from the room.
“I possess limited knowledge.” I am aware that Molly despised Vera. “Her capabilities remain unknown,” Jayce murmured in response.
“You despised Vera as well!””Zayden hissed. “By that reasoning, anyone could have administered the poison to her.” However, you are familiar with Molly. She is our destined partner…
“I lack a destined partner,” Jayce retorted. “It is all absurdity.”
The room fell silent following Molly’s departure; she was being taken to the king’s dungeon. The others exchanged frantic and fearful glances, unable to comprehend the recent events. Only Jack, seething with anger, fixed his gaze on the doorway through which Molly had been taken.
“Can you believe the audacity of that maid?”He murmured; Jayce was uncertain to whom he was addressing.
“I will kill him…” Zayden murmured while fixating on Jack.
“Jayce, Vera was your Lady; therefore, the fate of that maid will be your decision,” his father stated, approaching him cautiously.
Jayce glanced at his father; he was uncertain about his intentions regarding Molly, yet Zayden was adamant that they must establish her innocence.
Based on Ashton and Abel’s reactions, they likely desired the same outcome.
Jayce pondered the nature of their relationship with Molly and the reason for their significant concern regarding her abduction.
“They likely desire to engage in s****l relations with her…” Zayden muttered.
“Silence,” Jayce admonished his wolf.
He directed his attention towards his father.
“Once all parties have settled, I will attentively consider every aspect of the narrative to ascertain the veracity of her claims,” Jayce stated, endeavouring to maintain a composed tone.
“I can ascertain whether she is being truthful,” Jack remarked with a faint chuckle.
…
I positioned myself in the corner of the cell; it was dimly lit and reeked of mildew and an unpleasant stench that lingered in my nostrils. I leaned my back against the concrete walls and descended to the floor. I drew my knees to my chest and permitted tears to cascade down my face.
I was incredulous that such an event was occurring.
I would never attempt to poison Vera; although I harboured animosity towards her and was aware of her attempts on my life, I would never wish her harm in such a manner.
I pondered whether Kylie and the other maids had been informed about the incident, as information consistently circulated rapidly within the maids’ unit.
I bit my lower lip to suppress my sobs; the guards were monitoring the dungeon doors to ensure everything was in order. I wished to remain unseen and unheard as I succumbed to despair. I buried my face in my knees, and my body collapsed. I rested my head on the ground, my knees still drawn to my chest; I lacked the strength to maintain my position any longer.
I lacked the energy to maintain composure. My body shook uncontrollably, and I wept as tears streamed down my face.
She was deceased. She must have been poisoned.
I recalled the frigid gaze Jayce directed at me before I was forcibly removed; a gaze so penetrating that it nearly harmed my very essence.
All believed I was responsible; they deemed me capable of such egregious offences, with the exception of Abel and Ashton. I appreciated their support, despite its ineffectiveness. Nonetheless, it was reassuring to have their allegiance; two remarkable gentlemen.
My heart ached intensely, prompting me to weep even more fervently. I bit down on my lower lip to suppress my sobs. I tasted the minuscule droplets of blood that seeped from my lip and trickled onto my tongue. That physical pain was less severe than the emotional anguish I experienced in my chest and abdomen.
I experienced illness.
Molly?”I perceived a murmur emanating from the cell door.”
I raised my head slightly and observed Prince Abel positioned on the opposite side of the cell bars.
Victor… I mean… “Prince Abel,” I remarked as I sat upright; I wiped my face with the back of my hand and sniffled once more as his gaze turned sorrowful.
