“Modern medicine considers this condition to be a form of anxiety. People fear that their organs, especially critical ones, will retract entirely, leading to severe anxiety and psychological suggestion, causing the condition to recur. Both men and women can have this illness.
As she was explaining, the patient’s illness flared up again. This time, her chest tissue retracted further, her limbs turned cold, and she began to shiver.
“Sophia, what should we do?”
Everyone’s eyes turned to Sophia, including Silas, who looked anxious. Watching someone’s body undergo such drastic changes was frightening, and being familiar with his wife’s body, he couldn’t help but feel panicked.
“Doctor, please, do something!”
Sophia frowned, maintaining her composure as she took out acupuncture needles. She inserted needles directly below the chest tissue at the root points, which align with the chest root acupoints on both sides. Afterward, she added needles at the patient’s philtrum and the Neiguan point on the inner side of the forearm.
However, even after the needles were in place, the patient didn’t wake up.
Silas looked again and again, growing increasingly anxious. “Young lady, do you even know what you’re doing? Why isn’t my wife waking up? If you’re just randomly inserting needles and something goes wrong, who will take responsibility?”
Sophia frowned, “Why are you panicking?”
“Panicking? How could I not panic? My wife is lying here unconscious, barely hanging on. I hadn’t planned on calling a traditional doctor, and if your treatment is useless and delays her care, who will be responsible?” Silas suppressed his frustration.
Sophia could tell he was trying to stay composed.
She understood his urgency, but some things couldn’t be rushed.
Seeing that the patient’s organs were about to retract completely, Sophia inserted a needle between the chest tissue. Remarkably, the retraction stopped instantly! The tissue even began to return to its original shape at a visible rate. Sophia checked the patient’s pelvic area and found no more contractions.
“This…” Barbara exclaimed, “The condition has stabilized. Sophia, your acupuncture worked!”
Silas, filled with relief, looked at Sophia in disbelief. She was so young that he hadn’t expected her to be capable of treating his wife, but she had proven her skill.
The patient soon regained consciousness, and Sophia examined her face before prescribing a formula.
“Your body has a significant cold energy imbalance, which caused fainting and foaming at the mouth. This cold energy traveled along your meridians, leading to contractions. The root cause is primarily cold energy in your kidneys and liver, which explains why both conditions share a common underlying cause. I’ll keep that in mind when prescribing your treatment.”
With Sophia’s acupuncture, the patient’s condition was now under control.
All the interns looked on in disbelief.
They had studied acupuncture, but they had never seen it work this effectively, controlling a condition in such a short time, almost like the CPR used in modern medicine. The results were astounding!
They had learned traditional medicine, but after years of study, they felt they were still beginners—knowing the acupoints but not which points to treat specific ailments.
To them, Sophia’s actions were on a teacher’s level!
It was awe-inspiring.
With Sophia displaying such skill, Silas eagerly trusted her and urged her to complete the prescription.
Sophia wrote out the prescription
She handed the prescription to Silas.
“This will nourish the liver and kidneys, consolidate stagnant energy, and alleviate body coldness. However, it needs my supervisor’s approval. Take it to him for confirmation.”
Silas nodded and immediately went out with the prescription.
As he reached the door, an ER doctor rushed in, asking, “How’s the patient?”
He glanced over at the patient, now awake and stable, and was momentarily stunned.
“She woke up? When did this happen? The situation was so dire before—I thought…”
Barbara glanced at Sophia, giving her a thumbs-up. “Impressive! Our underachiever really surprised us this time!”
“Yeah, Doctor Sophia, we’ll be counting on you to look after us from now on!”
“Doctor Sophia, you’re our hero!” everyone exclaimed.
Sophia couldn’t help but laugh.
Outside, Professor Michael examined Sophia’s prescription and stared at it for a long time.
He glanced toward the emergency room, surprised at the transformation of his once unremarkable student.
He could tell the prescription was based on but Sophia had altered it boldly. Each herb was chosen with precision, even if the combination looked contradictory at first; each component played a unique role, and none could be omitted!
This level of skill was beyond his own.
Yet Sophia, an intern, had accomplished it!
Professor Michael looked at the prescription in amazement, his emotions swirling.
No wonder Dr. Aaron Mateo, a national physician, trusted Sophia with patient care. With her prescription skills, she truly wasn’t inferior to Aaron Mateo.
The thought struck him—could Sophia’s skill even surpass that of a national physician?
Professor Michael’s feelings were mixed.
The younger generation truly surpasses the old.
Later, Sophia contacted a hacker to dig up information on Miss Maggie’s ambiguous Facebook friend, obtaining his phone number and ID.
She discovered he was a local. If Miss Maggie was dating, her partner wouldn’t be financially strained, so Sophia asked Nancy for more information.
“I know him. He doesn’t have a great reputation—he loves gambling. He lost millions in recently. Families like ours might have some money, but our parents wouldn’t tolerate bad habits. Besides gambling, he’s also into drugs and wild parties, always hanging out with different women. Even a wealthy family wouldn’t support a lifestyle like his, and I’ve heard his family is nearing bankruptcy. They likely can’t afford to fund his habits anymore.”
“She knows Miss Maggie?”
Nancy shook her head. “I’m not sure about that. You probably don’t know much about Miss Maggie—she’s not exactly a saint. She used to be into the party scene, but I don’t know the specifics.”
Sophia wasn’t surprised at all. After a moment’s thought, she went online and paid someone to check this man’s hotel records.
Getting hotel records wasn’t easy, but with the right connections, it was possible. She wanted to see if there was any overlap between him and Miss Maggie. Her search yielded results: the system showed that the man and Miss Maggie were both registered at the same hotel on the very day Sophia arrived. They hadn’t booked the same room, but it was enough to suggest their relationship wasn’t simple.
Meanwhile, Felix handed a stack of documents to Scott Livinus, looking concerned.
“Mr. Scott, we’ve found that Miss Maggie has ties to many men, but she was indeed at that hotel that night. If she decides to accuse you, even if the police clear you, the investigation could take time. If she hires a few online trolls to sway public opinion, the consequences…”
The consequences didn’t need spelling out; Livinus Scott understood them better than anyone.
Livinus Scott stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, gazing down at the cars below. From his vantage point, he was used to looking down on everything. Losing that perspective would make everything much more challenging.
He understood this better than anyone, but…
Livinus Scott let out a cold laugh. “There are ways to deal with women.”
“You mean…”
“Find me a few people.”
Felix listened to his instructions and nodded. “Understood, I’ll get on it right away.”

The next morning, as soon as Sophia arrived at the hospital, Barbara rushed up to her, looking anxious.
“Sophia, there’s trouble! Do you remember that pregnant woman you saw the other day—the actress, Olivia? She’s now claiming she feels unwell and says that your prescription made her sick and that you intentionally harmed her. This has attracted a lot of attention. The professor has already been called in for a meeting—you’re in serious trouble.”
To her surprise, Sophia just raised an eyebrow, smirking calmly. “Oh? Really? That was quick.”
Her friends were taken aback, and Anna frowned.
“Sophia, you can’t take this lightly. She’s a celebrity, after all, and this concerns the hospital’s reputation. Every department is on edge.”
They were genuinely worried about her. “It’s amazing you’re still able to smile.”
Of course, Sophia was amused. Olivia had gone through such lengths to stir up trouble for her, but did Olivia really think she’d be that easy to defeat?
Sophia couldn’t help but sneer—who would end up on top was yet to be determined.
Seeing Sophia’s expression, Barbara suddenly had a feeling that this was just the beginning of some serious counteraction!
