He flipped through her contracts and sat down; it did not take him long to locate it. He observed that it was signed merely a week ago. Upon reading it, I was exceedingly irritated to discover that his father had sanctioned her residence in Ottawa for a duration of two years, without any requirement to return during that period.
His sole stipulations were that she must return home and pledge her loyalty to Caelan before her departure, and she must continue to remit 75% of the revenue from all portraits painted for other packs to the pack, an exorbitant sum. Caelan pondered what sustenance she was expected to rely on while there.
His father had consented to construct an art studio for the woman, having already allocated funds for it, as Caelan observed, with everything arranged for her return, enabling her to continue painting portraits of Alphas, their Mates, or ranked members of packs. Retaining her in a position where she could persist in generating revenue for the pack.
Caelan had not genuinely observed any of her paintings, or at least he believed he had not. He surmised that he may have simply overlooked it. Any of the portraits in the allied collections he had visited could plausibly have belonged to her. He had never paid much attention or enquired, for that matter.
He directed his gaze towards her outstanding contracts. He noted that all four were in progress, designated as Alpha. One he recognised as un-mated; the other three were unfamiliar to him. She appeared to be in great demand. Photos were already affixed to the contracts. Once approved, the photographs would be dispatched to her in Canada. He observed that they were all formal portrait photographs.
All Alpha males appeared to possess attractive features and a robust physique, akin to his own. Caelan was simply relieved that these men did not remain seated for her to portray them. That would not be auspicious. He recognised that the unmated individuals would desire her, and he possessed the ability to captivate nearly any female wolf. He disapproved of it. She would ensure that she exclusively painted from photographs if she were to continue this practice.
An address in Ottawa and an image of an apartment were also included. He presumed it was the location where she would reside, or would have resided, but no longer, since he had prohibited it. She was no longer permitted to depart from the pack. He had informed her accordingly.
Caelan desired to annul the contract his father had executed, but he was unable to do so as it bore his father’s signature, not his own. Place it on the desk and store the remainder; he would need to confer with his father, and she would have to remain in this room for that discussion. It is preferable that he was not alone with her, regardless.
Heard Hudson scoff at him and his musings. Appeared slightly amused to Caelan.
Mason entered his office and placed food before him. Clearly, he had visited the main kitchen, given that breakfast had concluded, “Thank you.”
What transpired?Mason enquired as he took a seat.
“Nothing,” Caelan responded.
“Do you genuinely believe I accept that?”Mason declined with a shake of his head.
“Believe what you wish,” Caelan remarked, grasping the bacon and egg bagel to consume it.
“My Beta instincts indicate that an event has occurred.” Articulate your thoughts, Caelan. Therefore, you may cease penalising us for it.
Caelan arched an eyebrow, stating, “I did not impose any punishment on any of you.” As I assume leadership, it is imperative that we intensify our training efforts.
“Bull…you disappeared last night and did not return. Do you believe I would remain oblivious?Mason fixed his gaze upon him, his eyes narrowed.
Rely on him to observe, “I was present.”
“Bull… articulate your thoughts.” Should I assume that Daisy possesses the answer to my inquiry and approach her for clarification?
Caelan glared at his Beta, aware that Mason would indeed rise and either enquire directly or utilise the mind-link to pose the question to her. He was aware that it was probable Daisy would disclose her thoughts to the man. She consistently informed him of the information he sought. Entrusted him entirely, without any reservations.
“Abandon it, Joe,” he murmured.
“Not if you intend to persist in penalising us for it.” That is unjust to us, Caelan.
Caelan sensed his jaw twitching as he observed Mason rise to depart after a brief silence. The injured man intended to locate Daisy and enquire of her; he was certain of it.
“Fine,” Caelan retorted. “Close the door.”
Mason closed the door and turned to gaze at him with anticipation. No one else in this pack would presume to gaze at him in such a manner, except for his mother and father, and anticipate evading repercussions.
“Hudson observed Amelia; she appears to be alive,” Caelan informed him.
“I am aware; I perceived her, so…?””
What is your opinion on the events that transpired?Caelan asserted bluntly.
