Dr. Sophia – Chapter 68

Internship

When asked about her grandfather and parents, it was learned that her entire family had passed away, her parents, who died in a car accident.

Any person would be saddened by this, let alone Professor Michael.

Therefore, Professor Michael took special care of Sophia, hoping she could at least have the skills to survive.

Who would have thought that after four years of care, she was still like this?

It was somewhat disappointing.

“Sophia, your grandfather was a famous doctor of his generation! Highly respected! He was someone I greatly admired, and your parents were very honorable people as well. They were all wonderful individuals. I don’t expect you to become a famous doctor, but I hope you can inherit some of your grandfather’s spirit. As doctors, we must hold ourselves to high standards, not just for ourselves but also for our patients! If you don’t study well, how will you treat patients?”

Sophia couldn’t help but feel both touched and emotional.

Her family had declined, her parents had tragically passed, and even her husband’s family didn’t welcome her.

Yet, Professor Michael, who had no blood ties to her, had always looked out for her.

While her original self hadn’t known this, Sophia realized that her poor academic performance hadn’t resulted in expulsion, likely thanks to Professor Michael’s intervention.

Her original self had indeed disappointed him with poor behavior.

But Sophia had spent many years studying in her previous life. She not only learned from her own grandfather and father but also studied under other teachers, specializing in various areas of traditional medicine. Therefore, she understood how teachers thought and knew how to show humility to make them happy.

With a remorseful expression, she looked at Professor Michael and said:

“Prof, I realize my mistakes! I was upset about my poor performance in last semester’s finals, so I studied independently at home all summer. I know how much you’ve invested in me, and I don’t want to let you down.”

Professor Michael was taken aback. Previously, whenever he tried to lecture Sophia, she would just look down and remain silent. This was the first time she had said something so thoughtful.

Hearing this, Professor Michael felt it inappropriate to continue scolding her. Worried that she might be too sensitive, he even offered some encouragement:

“It’s good that you understand. Prepare yourself well! Tomorrow, come with me to the hospital!”

“Thank you, Prof!”

With that, Sophia left the office.

After finishing her business at the school, Sophia didn’t stay overnight on campus.

The University of Traditional Medicine she attended began clinical practice in the third year, with students alternating between classes and hospital work, and formal internships starting in the fifth year.

Tomorrow, she would go directly to the hospital and start her internship under her Prof’s guidance.

With that in mind, Sophia returned home early to rest, ready to face the next day’s challenges.

Before sleeping, she read “The Golden Notebook” for a while. The book was indeed hard to tackle, but once immersed, it was quite intriguing.

The author was also a master of writing thought-provoking content, though it also made it easy to fall asleep.

While reading, she eventually drifted off, and the book remained by her side when she woke up the next morning.

Sophia quickly freshened up, and during breakfast, she noticed that Scott Henry was unexpectedly home.

Scott Henry kept his gaze fixed on her.

After a few days apart, Sophia seemed even more beautiful. It was strange; he didn’t know what she had done, but her skin glowed with a radiant charm, her posture was upright, and she exuded a vibrant energy that made her seem completely different from before.

“Sophia, school started?”

Sophia nodded and continued eating.

“Heh, should I have the driver take you to school?”

“No need.” After a few bites, Sophia grabbed her bag and headed out. “I’ll take the subway.”

Scott Henry was visibly surprised as if he didn’t know that she could travel by subway.

He wanted to say something, but Andrea entered, so he ultimately kept quiet.

Just as she was leaving, Sophia happened to pass Scott Livinus on the staircase. She smiled in greeting and quickly walked outside.

The subway was crowded during the morning rush, and it wouldn’t look good to be late on the first day of her internship.

The Scott family’s property was truly vast!

It took some time to run from the villa to the gate, then across the greenery and out to the road. She ended up running for several minutes in total.

If not for regular exercise, Sophia thought she’d be exhausted just getting out of the house each day.

She glanced at the time and realized she could still make it to the subway. Just as she was about to cross the road, a black sedan pulled up in front of her.

The window rolled down, and Scott Livinus spoke in a calm voice, “I’ll drop you off since it’s on my way.”

This time, he wasn’t lying. The hospital where Sophia was interning was not far from the Scott Corporation building, so it was indeed convenient.

After a moment’s thought, Sophia got into the car.

Unbeknownst to her, Scott Henry, who had been trailing her, witnessed this scene. His eyes narrowed, and his expression turned cold.

How did Uncle Livinus end up with Sophia? When did they become so familiar with each other?

It was as if they were closer than he, her husband, was.

The problem was, both Sophia and Scott Livinus were not the type to be easily approachable.

Especially Uncle Livinus, who had a bit of a germaphobia, disliked physical contact, and rarely let others ride in his car.

For this reason, despite working in the same company, Scott Henry had never ridden in his car.

So how could it be that these two just happened to be leaving together?
