When he was younger, Scott Richard also had affairs outside, but Andrea had some tricks up her sleeve in her youth and was always able to drive away the women around him.
Even though they had conflicts before, Scott Richard would still come home in the end. But this time, he couldn’t even be bothered to argue and was blatantly standing by his mistress’s side.
This was a slap in her face!
She had borne him a son, raised the child with great effort, worked hard to please his parents, and secured her position in the family.
But he…
And yet, these days, the old lady hardly said a word, clearly enjoying the show.
Andrea suddenly found it ironic. She wished her son would get divorced, just as the old lady wished she would get divorced as well.
They shared the same stance.
However… that photo was found in her bedroom drawer. Who else in the house, besides Sophia, would do something like that?
Now that she was so humiliated, Sophia must have been laughing behind her back.
The thought of someone mocking her made Andrea want to tear her face apart.
Just as she was thinking this, Sophia walked in with a book, reading as she went, completely oblivious to Andrea sitting in the living room.
Andrea glanced at her profile and smirked coldly.
Although she wanted to deal with the mistress, the matter of her son’s divorce couldn’t be delayed either.
The longer it dragged on, the worse it would be for her son and the more assets Sophia would end up with.
All this money was hard-earned; why should it go to an outsider?
Sophia had some tricks, too. She had humiliated Olivia before and now made her lose face. This debt had to be repaid!
Andrea suddenly sneered. She had lived so many years – could she really be defeated by a little girl?
No! Andrea was not one to be trifled with. Not only must Sophia divorce, but she must also leave without a penny!
She wouldn’t give her a single cent!
With that in mind, Andrea lowered her head and drank her tea with a blank expression.
Sophia continued reading until past eleven, reading for over six hours, and finally finished the part she hadn’t completed before.
The book Bar Talk involved America’s history and wasn’t easy to read..
The light in the adjacent study was still on. Sophia knocked on the door, and upon receiving permission, entered with the book in her arms.
“Here’s your book back!”
Scott Livinus put down his pen, rubbed his brow, and asked in a low voice, “Finished?”
“Yes!”
Sophia placed the book back on his bookshelf. Upon looking, she realized that his bookshelf had a wide variety of books, including many rare editions. Being a book lover herself, she noticed her own room had very few books, especially novels.
“Take whatever you like to read,” Scott Livinus stood up.
“Alright!” Sophia smiled and pulled out The Golden Notebook. “How about this one? I’ve heard of it but haven’t read it.”
For the first time, she noticed that Scott Livinus was standing right behind her without her realizing it.
They were close, close enough to feel each other’s warm breath.
The warmth of his breath, along with the musk scent of his cologne, reminded her of that night.
Sophia was quite tall, but her eyes could only see his lips.
Scott Livinus’s lips were well-shaped, thin, which was said to be a symbol of aloofness.
He remained silent for a long time, and the air seemed to cool by a few degrees.
Just as Sophia was thinking of moving away, he suddenly stepped back, giving her some personal space.
“Try this book.” Scott Livinus raised his hand, reached over her head, and took another book from the shelf.
“Alright!” Sophia took the book.
“You’re in your fifth year, right?” It was rare for the aloof Mr. Scott to start a casual conversation.
It felt odd, like a boss suddenly showing concern for what his subjects ate.
Sophia felt as though she was being questioned by an elder. “Yes, I’m about to start my internship.”
“When does school start?”
“Tomorrow.”
Scott Livinus nodded without saying more.
The next morning, Sophia brewed herbal tea and put it in a thermos, preparing to head to school.
As she reached the door, she saw Scott Livinus’s car parked there.
The black car window rolled down, and the man with a cold expression spoke, “I happen to be passing by your school for work. I’ll drop you off.”
Sophia was slightly taken aback but got into the car with her bag.
