The Alpha’s Secret Mate – Chapter 21

Crush

“Oh my goodness,” Vera exclaimed as she retreated further into her room; the footman remained perplexed.

“The footman stated, observing her intently, ‘He desires your presence immediately, my lady.'”

“Certainly,” Vera remarked, turning towards me.

“Accompany me tonight,” Vera commanded assertively while preparing in her room.

“My lady?””I enquired, uncertain of her request.”

“You will guard his door tonight,” she stated with an exasperated glance. “Ensure that no one enters.”

Does his chamber door lack a lock?”I enquired, remaining perplexed.”

“Anyone could still knock,” she remarked dismissively. “Your responsibility is to prevent them from doing so,” Vera elucidated.

I was aware of her concern that Lady Jane might become restless this evening and attempt to engage with Jayce.

No one will disrupt this evening for me. Comprehend?”She enquired, her eyes deepening as she leaned closer, her words seething in my face. ‘No one.'”

I acknowledged with a single nod.

“Affirmative, my lady,” I responded.

I accompanied Vera and the footman into the hallway; she confidently advanced down the corridor, closely following the footman, while I lagged behind at a distance. I focused on my feet as we proceeded, reflecting on the recent incident when Jayce attempted to impose himself upon me once more.

I was pleased that my body was more compliant with my mind this time. However, what if it had not been? He would have forcibly taken me into his room, and I would have been with him tonight instead of Vera. She would have been furious if that occurred.

A wave of sadness surged within me as we approached his chambers. I was uneasy about remaining outside his room throughout the night while they indulged in their intimacy. The notion of his evening with Vera caused me to grimace, and I endeavoured to conceal my anguish.

Why did I invest so much emotion? I had no desire to become his mate. I concealed the mark for a purpose, and my primary objective was not to bond with Prince Jayce, but to escape this palace and attain my freedom. I was on the verge of success, and any disruption could jeopardise that outcome, which I could not permit.

I needed to dispel thoughts of Jayce and Vera from my mind to endure the forthcoming months. However, this would prove challenging if she anticipated my presence outside his chamber doors each time they spent the night together.

“Maintain your composure,” Vera remarked, glancing at me as we proceeded along the lengthy corridors. “You may find it enjoyable.” Listening to us throughout the night.

She laughed softly as she uttered those final words.

I winced once more at the notion. How much more of this was I destined to endure?

We halted before Jayce’s chamber door and stood uncomfortably, attempting to regulate my breathing as my anxiety intensified.

“Do not commence hyperventilation at this moment.” “Please monitor for interruptions,” Vera instructed as she knocked.

I pressed my back against the wall as Jayce opened the door to welcome his companion. He cast a fleeting glance in my direction, causing my cheeks to flush. I executed a swift curtsy to him.

“Your Majesty,” I articulated as appropriately as possible, relieved that my voice remained steady.

He cast a backward glance at Vera, furrowing his brow.

I requested Molly to maintain vigilance for tonight. “To ensure we are not disturbed,” she informed him. He hesitated briefly but then fully opened his door for her to enter.

She averted her gaze as she entered his room, forcefully closing the door behind her. Remaining against the wall, I descended to the floor, drawing my knees to my chest and resting my head in my lap.

I covered my ears as I heard Vera’s moans. It has been over an hour, and her volume continues to escalate. I can hear him grunting as he thrusts into her, releasing himself like a confined beast.

I could no longer endure it; I merely desired its conclusion. I required the cacophony to cease. He referred to her as his mate during their embrace, just as he had addressed me the night he marked me. I recalled the sensation of his hands upon me, dismantling me as if I were inconsequential, accompanied by the ensuing agony. It was excruciating, yet his gentle kisses and caresses alleviated the suffering instantaneously. At that moment, I felt devastated and tainted, yet my body remained motionless, yearning and ravenous for his touch.

I shut my eyes and rested my head in my lap; I sensed warm tears threatening to escape from my swollen eyes. I had to restrain myself from crying further; it would not be long before they completed their task and discovered me seated in the hallway. I could not allow them to witness my emotional collapse.

New tears cascaded down my face, and my body trembled uncontrollably as Vera repeatedly called out Jayce’s name.

What prompted my reaction?

My heart thudded in my chest, racing against time. I could not endure this anguish.

I continually reminded myself that the duration would be brief. I needed to persevere a bit longer, after which I could depart without regret. Once the King endorsed the amnesty, Kylie and I would be free to leave and never return. We would attain our liberty, allowing me to finally pursue my aspirations and honour my mother.

I fervently wished for Kylie’s presence at this moment. Her absence is profoundly felt, and she would undoubtedly alleviate this suffering.

As dawn approached, I had scarcely slept; my sleep deprivation had reached a point where I was unaware of when the moaning and grunting ceased. I did not notice when Jayce’s chamber door opened, revealing him in the hallway, gazing down at me as though I were a cockroach he intended to crush.

"Alpha Prince, stop this madness! Can’t you see all I want is to leave this place, to be free of these suffocating walls and your overbearing presence? Do you think that just because fate bound us as mates, it gives you the right to claim dominion over me and this palace? You’re mistaken—horribly mistaken. You may call yourself a Prince, but your crown means nothing here. This is my domain, and the only place you’ll ever remain is beneath me, forever shackled by your arrogance and blinded by your pride."
