Rejected by the Alpha – Chapter 119

Tower Pack

He assisted me in sitting up, and I curled into myself, feeling quite cold.

“Take this,” he slung his heavy jacket over me, protecting me from the harsh, frigid wind. They had erected camping tents in the vicinity of the forest and had ignited a bonfire.

The warriors were resting a little distance from us in their tents.

“We needed to recuperate.” Don elucidated, “We shall resume our journey in the morning,” as he sat beside me. Two unoccupied camping tents were present, and I surmised that one was designated for him and the other for me. We were positioned adjacent to the fire.

“It is a pleasure to see you, Don,” I expressed with a smile, comforted by his well-being. I have been exceedingly concerned about him since the Alpha King issued a death threat against him.

Likewise. What is your current emotional state? He enquired, reciprocating the smile. His tender gaze was comforting, evoking a sense of belonging.

“Significantly improved,” I exhaled,

I apologise for not assisting you when I encountered you in Robert’s room. I acknowledge the appalling manner in which he abused you, and I regret my inability to save you from him. “I apologise for being the best friend of the individual who caused you harm,” he said, gazing at me with genuine compassion.

“It is acceptable, Don.” I recognise your commendable character. You have been an exemplary friend to Bria and have provided assistance to Jim. “That is sufficient justification to consider you a good person and my friend,” I stated to him.

His status as the best buddy and Beta of the Alpha King does not imply that he possesses the same ruthlessness as the Alpha King. Don is inherently a decent person, which is evident, and I will never hold him accountable for the tragedy I endured at the hands of the Alpha King.

Thank you, Jessica. “Hearing you express that alleviated the guilt I was experiencing,” he remarked with a smile.

We fell silent, fixated on whatever captured our attention.

My thoughts wandered to Jimmy, who was likely still engaged in a fierce confrontation with the Alpha King. The absence of their cacophonous howls troubled me. If only I could hear his howl, it would provide the reassurance I required regarding his survival. I am aware of his vow to return, and Jimmy is known for honouring his commitments, yet it is only natural for me to feel concern.

“Do not be overly concerned.” “He will be fine,” Don remarked, interrupting my contemplation. I gazed at him in confusion, but he smiled reassuringly, “I understand your concern for Jimmy.”

I smiled timidly and averted my gaze, “yes, I am,” I said, focussing on my feet.

“You need not be,” he stated, “he assured he would return to you, correct?”

“Correct,”

“Then you can be assured he will,” Don smiled once more.

Shortly thereafter, we became fatigued and retired to our own camping tents. The next morning, we resumed our trek, albeit at a somewhat reduced pace due to my injuries, however they expressed no grievances.

Upon our arrival at Tower Pack, Don requested an audience with the pack’s elders. The pack was notably diminutive, and they appeared somewhat primitive.

Don’s soldiers halted and maintained a watch at the periphery of the pack, while Don and I entered the pack.

An elderly woman guided us to a wooden house, and Don entered alone with the royal letter he had received from his bag.

Shortly thereafter, he emerged with another woman, and we were directed to a larger wooden house. The second elderly woman opened the door, revealing a small kid sat within.

I was impressed by his striking appearance and remarkable facial resemblance to the Alpha King. He possessed a significant portion of the Alpha King’s sculpted features. Undoubtedly, he was the young prince for whom Don had arrived.

Is he aware of the reason for our presence? Don enquired of the second elderly woman.

“Indeed, he does,” the woman responded with a freckled smile.

Don acquiesced and entered the premises, accompanied by the second elderly woman.

I stood outside the residence, surveying my surroundings while contemplating Jimmy once more.

“He will be fine,” a voice remarked from behind me, prompting me to spin around abruptly, surprised. It was the elderly woman who had greeted us at our arrival at the pack.

Whom are you referring to? “I enquired of her, uncertain of her meaning.”

“The one in your heart,” she indicated my chest with a smile.

The individual who occupies my heart? Jimmy?

I was astonished by her remarks. How was she acquainted with Jimmy, and how did she discern that I was contemplating him?

However, I recalled their remarks regarding Tower Pack. They were psychics engaged in evil magic, which likely enabled her to perceive my thoughts.
