She surveyed her surroundings and blinked, aware that they were still within the pack-house, yet immediately recognising the furniture from her parents’ home. She discovered that her parents had relocated to a suite in the pack-house, directing her gaze at Luke with much astonishment. He directed a smile towards her. “I believed it would be beneficial for your family to reside in the pack house, allowing them to be near you.”
She smiled at him and replied, “I would.” Nodding, she felt tears welling in her eyes at his gesture, aware of the difficulty it posed for him. Despite some improvement in relations between her parents and Luke following her abduction and subsequent return, none of them truly harmonised. She believed that something had altered for her father that day. He may have perceived Luke differently. Unbeknownst to her, they had not conversed about the events that transpired between them. She had observed over the past few weeks since her return that her father was cordial to him, not excessively so, but engaged in conversation with Luke without reluctance.
Bella embraced him and then turned to her family, pointing directly at her father, “You,” she declared.
He merely smiled at her, stating, “We have been here for three days; it was not easy to conceal this from you.”
“A duration of three days?”
“Indeed, you were all engrossed in your ceremony, thus it is not so unfavourable given our circumstances.”
“Where are we?” Which floor are we currently on? She was completely unaware that she had been blindfolded the entire duration.
“The Alpha floor,” her mother informed her.
Bella stared in astonishment and turned to Luke. “Down at Mum and Dad’s end,” she said. He nodded, “There’s more.”
“What?” She pivoted at the sound of Brad clearing his throat and gazed at him.
“Victoria and I relocated to a suite on the fourth floor; I deemed it unsuitable to be situated on the Alpha.”
“What?” She gasped; she never anticipated Brad relocating to the pack home. He had not engaged in conversation with Luke, at least not in her observation over the preceding few weeks.
“I must monitor your companion to ensure he treats you appropriately,” he asserted, a little smile gracing his features.
She chuckled gently and approached to embrace them all. This was likely a superior gift compared to any he had presented her since returning home. All gathered in the dining room for breakfast, engaging in lively conversation; even Luke participated, contrasting his previous silence at her last family meal.
Observed Brad jabbing Karis in the b****t, “Well, young man, I trust you can manage my training when you mature.” Your wolf will be robust and formidable upon my completion of his training.
Karis smiled at him. “My wolf will be as large as Dad’s wolf, Maddis.”
“Excellent.” Brad chuckled quietly.
Bella gazed at her brother, aware that he had relinquished that role long ago. He grinned at her and remarked, “Who else would I trust to train the future of the pack?” He laughed, adding, “Not the old man; he’s too aged for that now.” It is preferable for him to remain with the juniors.
“Be cautious, young man; I can still best you,” her father remarked with a tone of seriousness, yet she understood their dynamic well enough to see that they were merely engaging in playful banter, as was their custom. “I prefer the juniors who are less talkative than those he will have to confront.” He indicated the triplets directly, stating, ‘They resemble their mother.’
She smiled at them while they argued and exchanged barbs. It resembled the past, with the two of them consistently teasing one another, aware that they had been pursuing each other around the room to determine who was currently the strongest. She grasped Luke’s hand and squeezed it while observing their mental connection with him, saying, ‘Thank you.’
He reciprocated her hand squeeze beneath the table. “I will do everything to ensure your happiness, Bella.” She gazed at him as he grinned directly at her. She understood he was sincere.
Shed did not request this; it was an initiative he undertook independently. It was likely challenging for him to accomplish this, especially considering her family and the distance he had established due to her exile.
He had made a concerted effort to persuade not only her parents but even Brad to relocate to the pack-house. He had not even enquired about it. He understood her proximity to them, both in the past and present, and simply desired her happiness. He discovered a method to facilitate her desires.
Bella was certain she felt an intensified affection for him at that moment.
