Dr. Sophia – Chapter 56

The News

Sophia stirred her food absentmindedly, thinking about the drone.

After breakfast, Sophia returned to her room and opened the drawer. The photo frame was still lying in its usual spot.

But…

Sophia checked the screws on the back of the frame; she had only tightened them three turns, but now they were in four turns.

When she opened the frame, the paper she had written on was still folded there, but the folding marks had changed slightly. It was definitely not in the same condition as before.

This meant that someone had entered her room while she was eating breakfast.

Sophia smirked. Did Scott Richard think she was a fool?

If he wanted to steal, then let him! She would make sure he understood the consequences of messing with Sophia.

That evening, when Sophia returned home, she saw Olivia, whom she hadn’t seen in a while.

A few days ago, Scott Richard had clearly forbidden Olivia from entering the house, reassuring her that Scott Henry would cut ties with Olivia.

But now, Olivia was back again!

She had brought several gifts, presenting them one by one to Andrea.

“Mom, I had someone bring these skincare products from overseas. They’re custom-made for royalty and are especially suitable for your skin.”

Andrea beamed with joy. “Really? No wonder they look so good!”

“Mom, your skin is naturally beautiful. You don’t even need these, but they’re just an extra boost—use them as you like.”

Her flattery had Andrea laughing nonstop.

Sophia walked into the living room without expression, and when Andrea saw her, her smile instantly faded. She held Olivia’s hand and said deliberately:

“Olivia, you are such a thoughtful child. Unlike some people who never bring me anything; you’re the one who truly cares!”

“Of course, Mom! I’ll be sure to honor you and give you lots of healthy grandchildren!”

Andrea’s heart melted at these words. At her age, she saw her peers all with grandchildren while she still had none. Olivia’s constant promises of giving her grandchildren only fueled her anticipation. “So, Olivia, any news?”

Olivia blushed, lowering her head as she said shyly, “Mom, actually, I am pregnant!”

“Pregnant? Really?!” Andrea jumped up, grabbing Olivia’s hand in delight. “Is it true? When did this happen?”

Olivia covered her mouth, smiling. “I’ve been feeling unwell for a while and wasn’t sure, but after a check-up yesterday, the doctor confirmed it. It’s very recent.”

“Oh, how wonderful! Our Henry is finally going to have a child! I’m going to be a grandmother!” Andrea clutched Olivia with joy.

They completely disregarded Sophia as if she were invisible.

Soon, Scott Richard and Scott Henry heard the news and came over. Scott Richard was thrilled. “Really pregnant? This is fantastic news!”

Scott Henry was initially a bit stunned until Olivia placed a report on the table.

He picked it up, his lips curling into a smile, his eyes filled with excitement. Scott Henry happily embraced Olivia, saying:

“Olivia! We’re going to have a baby!”

Olivia smiled coyly, “Yes, I hope I can give you a healthy son! And then a daughter for the next one, so you’ll have both!”

Her words filled everyone with joy.

Sophia watched them expressionlessly. Scott Henry’s happiness was genuine. In the past few days, he had returned home several times, subtly attempting to reconnect, showing signs of changing his mind. But people are often fickle, especially someone like Scott Henry, who found the thrill in sneaking around with a mistress. When that thrill was gone, and the mistress became the official partner, it would only be a matter of time before she, too, was replaced.

But Olivia was clever. She knew that many men, even if they cheat, don’t want a divorce. Yet, once a child is involved, the scales tend to tip.

The primary partner often can’t compete with a mistress and a child.

Olivia’s move was risky but smart.

Whether she was genuinely pregnant or not, she had already gained the upper hand.

Scott Richard’s once gentle demeanor turned cold as he glanced at Sophia, a complete change from yesterday.

Andrea’s attitude also shifted, and she sneered, “Olivia, you’re so capable! Unlike some people who are just useless hens that don’t lay eggs!”

Scott Henry finally noticed Sophia and offered an awkward smile:

“Sophia, you’re here? Well, Olivia is pregnant.”

Sophia glanced at them, fully understanding why their attitudes had suddenly changed.

She had no value to them anymore; they had already obtained the prescription.

However, that prescription…

Sophia laughed mysteriously. “Oh, let her be pregnant! It’s like rain falling or mistresses getting pregnant—who can stop it?”

“You…” Olivia’s face turned white with anger.

Sophia laughed and went upstairs, with Scott Henry following her into the hallway, where he called out to her:

“Sophia, I’m sorry. I really did want to come back to you, but Olivia is pregnant, and I can’t just ignore her and the baby. Let’s hurry up and get divorced.”

Sophia, for once, looked at him with some respect. In the past, Scott Henry was indecisive, always under Andrea’s control. Now, he finally showed some backbone, daring to come home and ask for a divorce.

“Fine!” Sophia smirked, pulling a business card from her bag and handing it to him. “This is my lawyer’s number. Talk to him directly!”

“Lawyer?”

Scott Henry frowned, then quickly smiled.

“Sophia, the Scott family has excellent lawyers. I suggest you don’t waste your time. It’ll just cost you legal fees for nothing. Let’s end things peacefully. I’ll talk to Mom and offer you two million dollars in alimony if you agree to the divorce.”

Sophia laughed. “Scott Henry, do you think I’m a naïve student? Two million? Just wait; you’ll soon understand the real cost of cheating! Let’s see who wins this!”

At dinner, Scott Livinus returned.

The old boss smiled, “It’s rare for you to be back early. Come join us for dinner!”

Scott Livinus gave a blank look to Olivia and then at Sophia, who sat across from her.

Was she really indifferent, or was she putting on a brave face? Her husband’s mistress was sitting across from her, yet she ate calmly, appearing completely unfazed, drinking her soup, eating her vegetables, thoroughly focused on her meal.

“Sit down! Today, there’s good news in your eldest brother’s family, so I had the kitchen prepare extra dishes to celebrate.”

“Good news?” Scott Livinus raised an eyebrow slightly.

Scott Richard smiled. “Olivia is pregnant.”

Scott Livinus showed no reaction on his face, but his gaze unconsciously fell on Sophia across the table. Hearing this news, she seemed unfazed, continuing to eat with a good appetite. In fact, from the beginning, her behavior had been strange.

The mistress had shown up, yet she didn’t seem angry; the mistress was sitting at the same table, and she could tolerate it; the mistress got pregnant, and she didn’t feel outraged; when Scott Henry didn’t come home, she never looked for him.

Most people would have moved out if they were going through a divorce, but not her. She just kept smiling, eating meals, and acting like nothing was wrong while staying at the Scott family house.

What was she really thinking?

Scott Livinus picked up his cutleries, lost in thought.

Early the next morning, Sophia got up for her exercise routine again. Just after completing a lap, she heard the familiar buzzing sound above her.

Looking up, she saw the drone hovering overhead.

More absurdly, this time, a yellow rose was tied to the drone—a bright yellow, like the blazing sun, instantly lifting one’s mood at a glance.

Sophia stopped and pointed at herself. “Is that for me?”

The drone bobbed up and down, looking as if it was nodding.

Sophia frowned, not feeling thrilled by this sudden rose. Instead, she looked wary and asked, “Who are you?”

Of course, the drone couldn’t answer. She hesitated, plucking the rose and wondering if the person was friend or foe. Although Sophia wasn’t a public figure, a drone could easily follow someone’s movements, infringing on her privacy and making her feel unsafe.

The rose smelled fresh like it had just been picked, still carrying morning dew.

Sophia and the drone stared at each other, and finally, she extended her middle finger, giving it a universally recognized gesture.

Suddenly, the drone flew ahead, surprising her. Since yesterday, it had been following her, so why was it suddenly leading the way? After a few moments, the drone stopped and seemed to wait for her. Curious, Sophia followed as the drone led her through a small grove to the lakeside.

By the lake, a couple stood, walking arm-in-arm.

The man looked somewhat familiar.

Taking a closer look, Sophia froze and quickly ducked out of sight. She pulled out her phone and snapped a photo of the two.
