It was intentional!
Scott Livinus’s tone was laced with teasing—teasing with a hint of sarcasm, sarcasm with a touch of criticism, and criticism with an undertone of disdain.
In short, his single remark sent Sophia’s mind reeling with a mix of emotions.
She forced a smile, then, mirroring his indifferent tone, replied, “Seen it already. Nothing worth a second look!”
“…”
With a loud slam, the door shut behind her.
In an instant, the curtains were drawn shut, blocking out the light from the neighboring room, as though she couldn’t distance herself from him fast enough.
After a long silence, Livinus Scott suddenly let out a faintly amused smile, the corners of his mouth curving up with intrigue.
Sophia had plans to meet Nancy and Chloe at the beauty salon.
As soon as she arrived, she saw that the TV was playing gossip about Olivia.
In the footage, Olivia was wearing a glamorous evening gown, attending a red carpet event with Scott Henry. She made sure to flash her massive diamond ring for the cameras.
Wow! The rock was big. Didn’t her hand get tired from lugging that around?
Lately, Olivia seemed to be the topic of every conversation. She wasn’t holding back, either—her marriage wasn’t even finalized, yet she’d already sent out wedding announcement articles to the press. The buzz was so intense that journalists were now staking out in front of the Scott family estate. Sophia couldn’t help but admire the woman’s audacity. She was desperate to go public as a mistress, but this level of urgency was something else entirely.
Noticing Sophia glued to her phone, Nancy leaned in curiously. “What’s got you so engrossed? You haven’t looked up once!”
“Just posting something to expose her.”
“Posting? What post?” Nancy squinted at Sophia’s phone, where she saw her typing something on Facebook. After reading for a bit, she burst out laughing. “Is this your secret account?”
“Yep. Just got a new SIM for it,” Sophia replied, carefully reviewing the content before hitting “post.”
Nancy quickly pulled out her phone and checked Sophia’s profile. She nearly doubled over laughing when she saw the title: ‘To the Mistress Desperate to Flaunt Her Million-Dollar Ring—Enough Already!’
In the post, an anonymous “insider” called out a shameless mistress for breaking up a marriage, regularly barging into the wife’s home to taunt her, and milking the man for every penny. The insider described how the wife suffered countless sleepless nights, her heart bleeding as she witnessed her husband’s scandals with the other woman splashed across the news.
The post continued: “Don’t think flashing a diamond ring makes you special. Until the wife steps down, you’re still just a mistress! If you’re so confident you’re marrying him, go ahead and show us the marriage certificate! Oh, you can’t? That’s right—because Mr. Scumbag is still married. This is the first time I’ve seen a mistress so proud of her title. I hereby crown you ‘Mistress Supreme of America.’ How does that sound?”
Nancy stared at her, stunned. “That’s some serious trolling! But Sophia, why are you going undercover like this? Why not just confront her openly?”
“You don’t get it!” Sophia smirked. “It’s more fun this way. An anonymous whistleblower generates far more curiosity and sympathy. Readers will feel the bitterness and helplessness in every word. That’s exactly the reaction I want.”
“…” Nancy couldn’t help but admire her strategy. “You’re amazing, girl!”
Sophia chuckled. “Just keep it under wraps, alright?”
“Duh, of course. I’m jumping in to stir the pot, too, and I’ll repost it under Olivia’s wedding news hashtag. But tell me, what inspired you to go after her now?”
Sophia handed her a video. Nancy watched with increasing fury, her expression shifting from calm to outright anger.
“Olivia is seriously shameless! What a classic manipulator!”
In the video, Olivia looked as though she were on the verge of tears, speaking to the camera about her “love story.” She described the hardships she and Scott Henry had faced over the years, insisting they were soulmates. She claimed they had to keep things low-key to avoid misunderstandings, which had unfortunately led to rumors of her being a mistress. She added, “Not everything is as it seems.”
And as they were talking about the mistress, Olivia herself walked out from a nearby room, chatting on her phone.
Upon seeing Sophia, Olivia’s surprise was obvious, but she continued her phone interview unfazed.
“Yes, we’ve known each other for ages! Our love has always been strong. The wedding date? It’s coming soon, and you’re all invited. What? Someone called me a mistress? Who said that? All I can say is, destiny has its own plans! You can’t change fate! Henry and I are meant to be together.”
Her words hung in the air, casting a chilly silence over the room.
Sophia and Olivia sat on opposite sides, each in a separate chair, one to the left and the other to the right.
Other clients passing by couldn’t resist sneaking glances at the two women, eager to witness this impending showdown.
Olivia’s lips curved into a smug smile as she scoffed. “Well, well. Talk about fate. Sophia, everyone has their limits! As a woman, don’t you have any pride? Holding onto a marriage when it’s over—where’s your dignity? Didn’t you once say you loved Scott Henry for who he was, not his money? Now you’re just after his fortune, aren’t you?”
“Of course!” Sophia replied cheerfully, accepting a bowl of chicken sauce from Chloe. “I can’t stand the thought of a mistress enjoying my share. If it’s mine, no one else is getting a penny! And a word to all those mistresses out there—if you’re going to mess with a married man, be ready to lose your financial backing. ‘Wife’ is a title you shouldn’t underestimate!”
“You…” Olivia’s lips trembled with anger, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “Proud, aren’t you? Let’s see how long you keep that smug smile!”
“Oh, you don’t need to worry about me,” Sophia replied, barely hiding a smirk. “But you might want to keep a lower profile. Otherwise, you’ll find that karma’s waiting right around the corner.”
At that moment, Olivia’s assistant entered and whispered something in her ear, causing Olivia to burst out in anger.
“Sophia, was this your doing?”
Sophia met her gaze with a mischievous smile and said, “Why don’t you take a guess?”
“…”
Olivia nearly exploded with rage, but she didn’t have time to waste on Sophia. News was spreading rapidly on Facebook, with people calling her a homewrecker, accusing her of dating a married man, and branding her a manipulative hypocrite. They were even demanding she leave the entertainment industry.
