After Divorce, No Second Chance – Chapter 39

Transfer

Jacob drank the half bowl of congee that Macy left and then ate two tea eggs.

Losing weight was currently Jacob’s main source of income, so he had to stick to it for both financial and health reasons.

While having breakfast, Jacob turned his phone back on, which he had turned off last night, and received many messages and missed call notifications.

A few minutes after he transferred the money to Chuks, the latter sent several long voice messages with a noisy background, clearly from a bar or similar place.

The core message was that he wasn’t in a hurry for the money, allowing Jacob to pay others first.

When he saw that Jacob had finished the transfer and then went silent, he cursed a few times, but the fifty thousand dollars still hadn’t been received.

Jacob replied to him, explaining that he was no longer short on money.

The other party didn’t respond much, probably still sleeping after a late night out.

Among the unread messages was one from Kyra Spark, asking if she should save food for Macy, and later inquiring why Macy hadn’t come to school. Jacob immediately replied to the responsible teacher, informing her that Macy would arrive shortly.

The missed call was from his second uncle, Marcus Deby, who must have seen the one hundred thousand dollars transferred into the bank account and called to inquire about the situation.

After leaving the breakfast shop, Jacob returned the call to his second uncle, not explaining much, just saying that he had made money by partnering with friends in the business.

Since Jacob had previously built a fairly large business, his second uncle didn’t suspect anything and reminded him to come home to visit when he had time.

By the time he dropped Macy off at kindergarten, it was already 9:30 am. Because he had sent a message in advance, Kyra arrived at the kindergarten gate early.

As she looked around, a visually striking SUV suddenly pulled up beside her.

Kyra instinctively took two steps back, shocked by the powerful aura of the vehicle.

Just as she was curiously examining what kind of car it was, Jacob got out of the driver’s seat, waving apologetically at Kyra: “Sorry, Teacher Kyra, we’re late again.”

“Uh, it’s fine.”

Kyra was momentarily stunned, then realized that the person getting out of the car was Macy’s father.

“Is Macy feeling unwell?” Kyra asked, coming back to her senses.

“Not really, just got held up by some things,” Jacob replied awkwardly, then opened the back door and carried Macy out.

“Good morning, Teacher Kyra!” Macy waved her little hand energetically.

“Good morning, Macy~” Kyra took Macy’s little backpack.

“Teacher Kyra, Daddy overslept, that’s why I’m late.” Macy earnestly explained the reason for her tardiness.

Meanwhile, Jacob felt embarrassed, scratching his head. He thought this little cotton-padded jacket was quite warm at home, but now it was leaking air.

“Thank you, Teacher Kyra,” Jacob said politely, then quickly got back in the car and drove away from this rather awkward scene.

The GetFit Fitness Center was only a ten-minute drive from Macy’s kindergarten, and Jacob arrived before ten o’clock.

“Good morning, Mr. Jacob.”

“Good morning, Mr. Jacob!”

Jacob clearly felt that the treatment today was different. After he walked into the store, Lilian and Monica, who had been chatting behind the bar, both stood up.

Jacob greeted the two of them, then took the electronic key for the locker and went to the changing room.

After changing clothes, he went straight up to the fourth floor aerobics area, where Layla was guiding a woman in yoga poses in the public area. The woman was slightly shorter than Layla but still around 168 cm, slim, and quite good-looking. She wore a pink fitness tank top paired with fitted yoga pants and had on a pair of Nike zero-gravity running shoes.

“Mr. Jacob, you’re here.”

As soon as Jacob stepped out of the elevator, Layla spotted him and immediately waved with a smile.

Hearing Layla speak, the woman who had been doing yoga also stopped and looked Jacob up and down.

Indeed, this woman was Josie.

She was off today and had come to the fitness center with Layla, having already practiced for half an hour.

But her purpose today was not really to work out; she was here to run into someone, and she had been somewhat distracted during the half-hour of yoga.

Now that the main character had finally arrived, she perked up.

After sizing up Jacob’s appearance, she was quite satisfied; he was tall, had good features, and was just a bit chubby.

However, in Josie’s eyes, that wasn’t a flaw; it was called “wealthy fat.”

“Mr. Jacob, this is my friend Josie; she’s also a member of our gym,” Layla introduced, as Josie had strongly requested this when at home.
