Destined to Rise – Chapter 172

East

Of course, it also has to do with the Whitaker family’s understanding; they did not cause trouble under his banner.

Now, Whitaker Albert is bringing things to the door again, and Principal Ben believes they must have some unspoken troubles. The first day, he sent a pig leg; the second time, it was lamb chops; the third time, it was a goose… Such rustic gifts, Principal Ben, could not bear it anymore.

Moreover, with such frequent visits, the troubles bothering Rosalie’s family must not be small.

Principal Ben had to urge his wife to step in quickly. The principal’s wife went to Maria’s to eat something, but Maria still did not mention any requests; instead, she returned home with a belly full of gossip:

“Teacher, it turns out someone from the Whitaker family has also been admitted to County East High School, Rosalie’s cousin.”

Principal Ben was puzzled; was Whitaker Albert frequently sending things to get him to take care of this niece?

Principal Ben felt displeased; he had not seen the Whitaker family care so much about Rosalie back then.

His wife hesitated to speak: “The Whitaker family is anxious; Rosalie’s cousin got into County East High School, but this child has some issues…”

What kind of issues? She particularly likes to go against Rosalie.

Maria was very humble, asking Principal Ben for more care, saying that this niece had taken many detours in the past and had finally learned well, but she must not go down the wrong path again. The principal’s wife felt uncomfortable hearing this; did they recruit someone who would cause trouble in the school?

“Will she ruin the atmosphere of the exam class?”

They are all young and vigorous boys; how can they resist the temptation of female classmates? Maria’s worried face was wrinkled, saying she saw her niece with a male student, and Maria’s original words were, “We can’t ruin other people’s children,” which made the principal’s wife tremble with fear.

From the sound of it, there had been more than one victim?

Moreover, a girl from the Whitaker family who helped at Maria’s Snack Shop spoke quickly, revealing Whitaker Scarlett’s various misdeeds.

The principal’s wife, having preconceived notions, trusted Maria and the others. Hearing that Whitaker Scarlett’s conduct was improper, that she did not respect the elderly at home, and even encouraged her parents to divorce, yet somehow managed to get into County East High School… it would be strange if the principal’s wife liked Whitaker Scarlett.

After listening, Principal Ben was also quite unhappy, but he remained rational:

“Let me ask about this student’s situation.”

Maria wanted to use Principal Ben’s connections to get Whitaker Scarlett expelled, but she couldn’t say it directly.

It was like how Helen went around badmouthing Whitaker Scarlett. Why did the headmaster and the gatekeeper look down on her? Helen was just a stupid girl.  No matter what, a family should present a united front. Everyone held this belief, so when Helen spoke ill of Whitaker Scarlett to others, they just thought she was jealous of her cousin.  A jealous face is hateful; no one likes Helen… Maria took the opposite approach, using Principal Ben’s connections, but not to ask him to expel Whitaker Scarlett. Instead, she played the role of a worried aunt, asking Principal Ben to give Whitaker Scarlett more “care.”

Why did Whitaker Scarlett need “care”?  Through Helen’s mouth, it was said that the girl had a spotty past and wasn’t cut out for studying.  Keeping her at County East High School would only corrupt the school’s atmosphere.

Maria hadn’t been so devious before, but Rosalie had read more books and learned how to handle things.

Did this method work?

It worked incredibly well!

Rosalie became the most favored child in the family, and “Maria’s Snack Shop” was able to open successfully thanks to this method. Sometimes, don’t rush to get what you want; first learn to give. Leave a good impression on those around you; you never know when it might come in handy.

“Auntie, why didn’t you ask Aunt to get rid of that little vixen directly?”

Helen didn’t know how close Maria was to the principal’s wife. Maria needed her cooperation, so she told Helen that she was the wife of the principal of County County East High School.

Helen was thrilled that the principal’s wife ate at their shop.

If she could win over the principal’s wife, wouldn’t she be able to get the wife to introduce her to a promising college student?

Maria suppressed her dislike for Helen: “I never said I wanted to get Scarlett expelled. Scarlett is disobedient, but can an elder really hold it against her? We can only hope for her well-being. But you said she’s taking the college entrance exam. She hasn’t been to school for days, right?”

Still thinking about getting into college?

Maria had seen Rosalie studying for the exam.  She spent her days reading and doing exercises.  Apart from helping her mother with the snack stall, Rosalie didn’t bother with anything else.

Even during the holidays in the countryside, Rosalie didn’t do any work.

When Maria learned that Whitaker Scarlett didn’t usually board at County County East High School, she thought she was courting disaster.  College entrance exam?  She must have ulterior motives.  Anyway, Maria wanted to ruin Whitaker Scarlett’s plans. If Whitaker Scarlett wanted to stay at County East High School, Maria would make sure she couldn’t.
