However, Livinus’s response gave Olivia some relief. She and Walker Riley had never gotten along, often competing openly and secretly on the red carpet, which frequently made the news. On multiple occasions, they even wore the same outfits, and since Walker Riley was taller, Olivia was often mocked for not looking as good in the same clothes.
If Walker Riley ended up with Livinus, it would put her in a more favorable position, which Olivia naturally didn’t want.
The New Year’s Eve dinner was completed with everyone harboring their own thoughts.
Andrea, having recently undergone major surgery, retired to her room early to rest. Meanwhile, Richard left right after the meal, claiming he would play games, leaving Andrea disappointed and disheartened.
On the other side, Sophia was preparing her own New Year’s Eve dinner. Since she was alone and didn’t feel like making anything elaborate, she decided to make a simple chicken soup. If she was still hungry, she could add some noodles, purple sweet potatoes, or vermicelli to it and eat it like hot pot.
As she was cooking, someone suddenly opened the door and came in. Startled, Sophia looked up to see Livinus standing at the entrance with a bag in hand.
“What are you doing here?” she asked.
“If I didn’t come, someone would have spent New Year’s Eve alone,” he replied.
Sophia was a bit surprised. She had assumed he would spend the evening at the Scott family home.
Livinus had brought some pre-sliced fruit, which he placed on the table, picking up a fork and handing it to her.
“Have some first. I’ll take care of dinner,” he said.
He then put on an apron, took the chopped chicken, and started cooking. But before he could begin, Sophia casually remarked while eating the fruit, “President, your messy scandals are making me very unhappy.”
Livinus froze in place.
Sophia smirked and said matter-of-factly, “Get them cleared up immediately. If there’s any more nonsense like this in the future, don’t even think about touching me again. Since you can cozy up with female celebrities, I can find myself a young stud too.”
Livinus’s tone turned icy, and he gritted his teeth. “You wouldn’t dare.”
“President, that’s not fair. The whole world knows about your flirtations with celebrities. Surely I’m allowed a little fun too?”
Livinus pulled her into his arms, narrowing his eyes. “You should know by now that I have no interest in other women.”
“Really? Should I know that?” Sophia shrugged.
“I wish I could die on you every day. Do you think I have the energy to think about anyone else?”
With that, he pulled her closer. Sophia wrapped her legs around his waist, hooking them around him.
“Maybe you haven’t been clear enough,” she teased.
“Then I’ll just have to prove it with actions…” Livinus said, carrying her straight to the bed.
He kept his word, and they didn’t end up eating dinner until after 8 p.m. Sophia was famished by then, drinking several bowls of chicken soup to recover. After eating, she picked up her phone and started fiddling with it.
“I registered an Instagram account,” she said.
“Hmm?”
Seeing that he didn’t react much, Sophia played with her account for a couple of minutes. Within two minutes, her follower count jumped to 1. Moments later, it skyrocketed to several hundred, and after another refresh, it was in the thousands. Each refresh brought thousands more followers.
Startled, she clicked on Livinus’s Instagram account and found it completely empty, with her as his only follow.
Livinus’s “wives’ group” exploded once again.
The internet was in an uproar, and within no time, tens of thousands of people followed Sophia’s account.
After glancing at her phone, Sophia tossed it aside, uninterested in the commotion. Instead, she leaned against the bed like Livinus, reading a book.
Suddenly, the deafening sound of firecrackers erupted outside, and fireworks lit up the night sky, falling and disappearing into the darkness.
The two exchanged a glance.
“Happy New Year,” Sophia said.
“Happy New Year,” Livinus replied with a smile, pulling her into his arms as they lay on the bed watching the fireworks outside.
Sophia wasn’t sure when she fell asleep, but the next morning, she woke to find her Instagram flooded with tens of thousands of mentions. Opening it, she saw that Livinus had posted a long string of fireworks pictures the previous night and tagged her in them.
A seemingly simple gesture, but one that spoke volumes.
Although Livinus tagged Sophia on Instagram, drawing countless fans from his “wives’ group” to her profile, they found no photos or posts on her account. Their curiosity was left unfulfilled, and they had nothing to gossip about.
