Against the Alpha’s Claim – Chapter 256

Mentioning it?

Although the street was not densely populated, it is likely that someone witnessed the event and would have reported it. He was observing the individuals. No individuals were present loitering or appearing to await law enforcement.

Was this a commonplace event for everyone as they merely passed by? Individuals vanishing from the streets? He was perplexed by the lack of care from others.

Undoubtedly, there must have been an individual who observed something perceived as unusual, yet it appeared otherwise. “I disapprove,” Maddis growled, visibly displeased and eager to pursue her himself. Although it seemed futile at that moment. No evidence remained to trace them; both Bella and Macky’s scents abruptly ceased at this location on the footpath adjacent to the roadway.

“We require a vehicle; we must drive around and search.” He murmured; it was not the most effective method to locate her or Macky, but it was all they had at that moment.

“There have been no threats,” Benzy remarked with a scowl. “I have not detected the scent of a single wolf that does not belong to us during my entire stay here.”

Luke stood observing the street while contemplating Benzy’s remarks, “I have.” He remarked, “Although it was days ago, so did Bella.” At her flat on the day of our arrival. A female wolf, not a renegade. I found it recognisable, yet could not identify it. Bellay, I do not believe he was aware of it at all.

“Did you not consider mentioning it?” Benzy was fixating on him with a glare.

“I observed nothing whatsoever, despite my scrutiny.” It was merely a singular scent, detected in the fleeting breeze, presumed to be that of a transient she-wolf. We would not be the sole individuals present in Los Angeles. Packs are present throughout California. It was not insubordinate. “There were no indications of a threat, nor any evidence of the she-wolf herself,” he stated, shaking his head.

“It may not have been as innocent as it seemed,” Benzy remarked, exhibiting annoyance.

“No.” Luke scowled, now compelled to concur with him, although it was familiar to me. Or so I believed.

Consequently, there is no threat, likely a female wolf from a group I had previously encountered.

“Do you remember it at all now?””

“No,” he replied, shaking his head. “I did not detect the odour again after that.” He exhaled deeply.

Observed as Gregory parked a truck in front of him, stating, “We encountered nothing during our journey here, boss.” What transpired?”

Macky and Bella were removed from the street. From this location. “This is the point where the fragrance ceases.” His gaze resumed its scrutiny, evaluating the individuals on the street.

Seeking any item whatsoever. Seeking individuals who appeared to be observing them or seemed to linger nearby.

“Greetings to you.” A male voice attracted his attention, and he observed a homeless man approaching him, unkempt, soiled, and notably odorous. “Are you Luke?”“Directed attention towards that man.”

“I am,” he said with a nod.

“I was instructed to deliver this to you upon your arrival.” He extended a phone towards him.

Luke enquired, “Who are you?” Who provided it to you?He enquired, “What were their appearances?” Where did they proceed?”

“I am uncertain,” the man remarked with a shrug. “I have been given one hundred dollars to deliver to you, and that is all.”

“By whom?”He enquired once more.

“A man cautioned me against failing the request, threatening to kill me.”

“What was his appearance?” Which vehicle was he operating?”

“Indeed, you have an abundance of inquiries.”

“What is the cost of the information?” Luke demanded as he observed the man extending his hand and rubbing his fingers together.

“Align with the other individual.” “One hundred dollars per question.” He snorted, seemingly amused.

Luke retrieved his wallet and examined his cash, observing Benzy doing so, despite Benzy’s tendency to carry minimal cash. He utilised his credit card for nearly all transactions, carrying barely two hundred dollars in cash.

Upon observing Benzy, it was evident that he was carrying only that amount.

The homeless man blinked in astonishment upon realising they were prepared to pay him the requested sum. “You will be truthful about this,” he stated.

“Indeed,” he affirmed, nodding as the individual responded to Gregory’s assertion, “we can consolidate our resources, boss.”

“What was the man’s appearance?”“He enquired again.”

“Tall and robust, similar to you and your companion, had dark hair, an intimidating individual.”

What attire was he donning?”

“Denim and a t-shirt,” the man said with a shrug.

“Nothing atypical.”

“What type of vehicle was he in and in which direction did it proceed?”

“It proceeded down the street in that direction,” he indicated behind him.

It was blue, and I am uncertain of its type.

“Is there anyone else accompanying him?”

“No, merely that individual.”

“Did you observe the occurrence?””

When an official letter from the Red Moon Pack demands her return, Bella defiantly burns it, vowing never to step foot in Luke’s territory again. But Luke, now the reigning Alpha, is relentless. He will bring her back, no matter the cost. Her wolf yearns for Luke, urging her to reclaim the bond they share, but Bella’s heart is torn. She despises the man who cast her out yet still feels the undeniable pull of their connection. To her, Luke’s motives are clear: he wants his heirs by his side, not her. She believes his wolf drives him to claim her, while the man himself sees her merely as the mother of his children, a convenient solution to his legacy. But is that the truth? Or does Luke harbor a deeper love for her that he has yet to admit—even to himself? In the battle between pride and fate, will Bella surrender to the mate bond or stand firm in her resolve to remain free? Only time will reveal whether their fractured past can heal, or if the scars will prove too deep to overcome.
