Bella informed him succinctly, “He became engaged this morning.”
“Abruptly,” Macky scoffed, “that girl coincidentally appeared, entered Chris’s office, and displayed the ring she was now adorned with to Bella.”
“I am indifferent; I desire his happiness.”
Luke gazed at her, sensing that there was more to the situation, that something else had transpired, although she did not elaborate further on the matter. “Macky?” He established a mental connection with his Gamma while Bella gazed out the window.
We can discuss it later. There is no need for concern; she seemed genuinely untroubled by it, though I found it peculiar. It was merely a slight surprise, but everything is well, I assure you.
He relinquished it. I believed that was the reason for our presence. We could host a substantial dinner with Nora and her family, allowing them to become acquainted with us, which may facilitate persuading her family over the meal.
Bella nodded in agreement. “Although Macky has not yet had a private moment with Nora, let us arrange for them to enjoy a pleasant dinner tonight, and we can schedule lunch or dinner with them tomorrow when both her mother and sister are available.”
He enquired of Macky, “Is that acceptable to you?””
“Indeed, I will converse with her upon our return.”
“Convey Bella and me to her flat.” I have not yet observed it.
You both may return to the hotel.
“Affirmative, boss,” they both remarked, sounding delighted. Although he considered Benzy more than Macky, he possessed insider information on the potential of Bella’s pregnancy. He leaned forward and kissed her temple, disregarding his father’s admonition to place his paws on her.
Tyler would inform them when she was aware. Maddis experienced an irritating huff within his consciousness.
His creature sought knowledge. Conversely, Luke was content to wait and observe; he found joy simply in her company.
He exited the vehicle and extended his hand for her to grasp, smiling upon her acceptance. Informed the lads that he and Bella would remain here for the night, granting them the liberty to engage in whatever activities of their choosing, and observed as they merely nodded and departed. She was entirely secure in his presence. Both parties were aware of that.
As she began to enter the structure, she detected a vaguely familiar aroma in the breeze, prompting her to turn and survey the surroundings, however she observed nothing. No one was presently observing her constructing, as there was no necessity; she was absent.
“What?”Bella enquired, redirecting her focus to the street.
“It is inconsequential.” He dismissed it. He could not identify the fragrance he was perceiving, despite his often reliable recollection; yet, he recognised it as distinctly wolfen and undoubtedly feminine.
“She-wolf.” She communicated with him telepathically.
“Yes,” he affirmed. “It’s inconsequential; let us proceed indoors.” He grinned at her, perhaps referring to someone he had encountered in another pack over the years, of no significant importance.
Consequently, the aroma failed to evoke a memory for him.
He smiled down at her, “Finally alone.” Reveal yourself to me.
“Me?””
“Indeed, your identity while in Los Angeles.” Your aesthetic, I presume. I am inquisitive.
“It is quite simple,” she remarked with a shrug. “I worked and cared for the children.”
“I wager that you possess numerous family photographs displayed in your residence.”
“I suppose I do,” she affirmed with a nod.
As she traversed her apartment, observing her possessions—from the dishes she had acquired to the furnishings and several framed photographs adorning the walls—he was not astonished to see that the images depicted woodlands and forests, reflecting her lupine nature; he particularly like the one featuring mist-shrouded woods.
I observed the possessions of the triplets, including their toys and preferred books, as well as photographs of them at the beach and park, featuring not only Bella but also Nora, Nina, Matt, and Dani. A multitude of family photographs depicting her and her human relatives, indicating a strong bond, presumably comparable to that with her own family.
She appeared content in them, as did the triplets, and he contemplated whether she had been consistently pleased, doubting it.
The loneliness conveyed in Tyler’s howl was absent from any of those photographs; he recognised that she concealed that aspect of herself from others. Concealed it from everyone, presumably including the children.
“We ought to dine with Nina and Matt during our stay, Bella,” he remarked, gazing at a photograph of them with her and the triplets.
“They are currently on their annual holiday in Spain and will not return until the tenth.”
“Oh, I was unaware of that.” He gazed at her, as she had not disclosed that information to him.
Dani and I conversed with them before to their departure. She profoundly misses them.
“So do you,” he smiled. “I observe how deeply you cherish them as well.”
