Against the Alpha’s Claim – Chapter 241

Private individual

I understand that you could benefit from a respite from the stress you are experiencing.

“Bella remarked as Elena took her seat.”

Elena directed a fierce gaze at Nora. She preferred that no one was aware of her affairs, nor did she want her daughter to discuss them; she was a private individual and a proud woman. However, Bella needed to address the matter at hand in some manner.

My invitation remains open for all of you to join us for a respite, a vacation in New York State; we do not reside in the city itself. Our residence is tranquil and soothing. It was also rather picturesque with the snowfall; I brought some photographs.” She had indeed retrieved her phone and displayed the images she had captured: the snow-laden woods, the town’s residences with snow-filled yards, and the snow-covered rooftops. In addition to the entertainment areas. The enclosed gymnasium and swimming pool.

Macky has arranged a suite for you, featuring three bedrooms, allowing you all to reside together.

“That is quite presumptuous of him,” she commented while examining the photographs.

Bella affirmed with a nod, “It was.” Nora has conveyed her desire to both of us to continue working for me. I was hoping you, as her mother, would consider a brief visit to observe her living and working environment. Authorise the location personally.

“Thoughtful of you, Bella.”

My children and I both love Nora. They profoundly miss her and enquire daily about her return to care for them once more.

“Those three are adorable,” Elena remarked. “One day, my Nora will marry and subsequently provide me with grandchildren to indulge.”

“Mother.” Nora flushed intensely.

“Marriage precedes the birth of children; you are aware of the protocol.” She observed Macky grinning at Nora’s mortification and deemed it endearing, she presumed. He, however, was unaware that Elena intended it sincerely. Would probably feel disillusioned with her daughter if the situation were reversed.

Bella entered Tim’s office. Macky remained seated in the waiting area, displaying no inclination to enter the office with her. There was no necessity, as his hearing would detect everything from this location.

Tim was traversing his office while perusing documents in his hand. She had observed that numerous times throughout the years she had known him, both prior to and throughout their relationship. It was very customary for him to engage in this activity while his work. He referred to it as ‘thinking on his feet.’

He gazed directly at her as she entered his office, having been announced by his secretary, who subsequently exited and locked the door. She observed him place the papers on his desk and shut the file they had occupied. Confidence was essential for his profession.

He then rose and gazed at her. “I am genuinely fine, Tim.”

She informed him and even grinned.

“There it is,” he said, nodding without a smile. “Please take a seat on the couch, Bella.”

She experienced a peculiar sensation, perceiving him as her attorney, but dismissed it as she took a seat. “How are you, Tim?””

“I am, in fact, well,” he asserted while seated in the solitary armchair across from her.

I wish to extend my apologies, Tim. I am remorseful. I have numerous matters to discuss and want to speak with you in person rather than over the phone.

I understand, Bella. You will reside and be employed there henceforth. Ben informed me that you have withdrawn the allegations against that individual.

“I did,” she affirmed. “He never physically harmed me; he never laid a hand on me.”

“The homicide was his responsibility, however.”

She had nothing to articulate on that subject, given there were video documentation of it. “It was not intended to occur as it did.” We have discussed it now.

“Or that is what he claims to persuade you to withdraw those charges… Are you and he reconciled now?””

“Yes,” she replied, unwilling to deceive or postpone the truth; he was entitled to know.

“Is he present?”His hand gestured towards the waiting room.

“No, I departed to converse with you, without informing him.”

“Must you inform him of your every location?” It appears somewhat authoritarian to me.

“He has the potential to be.” Bella said. “I apologise, Tim, for the conclusion of our relationship.” It is not at all what I anticipated, to be candid.

She pivoted at the sound of his office door opening and observed a young woman enter. “Darling, I envisioned us having lunch.” I observed her approach Tim, narrowing her eyes at Bella before casting a deep scowl and a questioning glance at Tim.

“I must return to court in one hour; Grace, this is Bella.”

“Bella, Grace,” he introduced them to one another.

“I am aware of her significance to you, Tim,” she murmured, sounding somewhat irked as she positioned herself on the arm of Tim’s chair and placed his hand on her thigh. He refrained from stopping her; Bella also observed the diamond ring on the girl’s left hand as she intertwined her fingers with his.

Her wolf yearns for Luke, urging her to reclaim the bond they share, but Bella’s heart is torn. She despises the man who cast her out yet still feels the undeniable pull of their connection. To her, Luke’s motives are clear: he wants his heirs by his side, not her. She believes his wolf drives him to claim her, while the man himself sees her merely as the mother of his children, a convenient solution to his legacy. But is that the truth? Or does Luke harbor a deeper love for her that he has yet to admit—even to himself? In the battle between pride and fate, will Bella surrender to the mate bond or stand firm in her resolve to remain free? Only time will reveal whether their fractured past can heal, or if the scars will prove too deep to overcome.
