Rejected by the Alpha – Chapter 4

My eyes

The Position of Alpha Robert Cotex

“You are responsible for all of this, Don. You compelled me to be here!” I fumed, expressing my frustration to my Beta and closest friend, Donald. I returned to our table, distancing myself from the situation.

“How is this my responsibility? I merely accepted the invitation to attend. I did not arrange for her to be your partner,”

“The moon goddess was undoubtedly self-reflective when orchestrating this pairing. Did you observe the girl closely?”

I did.

“Does it seem plausible that a feeble, ineffectual, and repugnant girl like her could be my mate? My unwavering companion?”

“I cannot assert that the moon goddess erred, as that would constitute blasphemy,” Donald remarked, wincing.

“Regardless of whether it constitutes blasphemy, I remain indifferent. The moon goddess deceived me this evening, and I am confronting her about it. Associating me with a girl of such demeanour is absurd. I govern an empire, and her potential as my Luna is questionable, particularly when she cannot even meet my eyes. Her fearful trembling rendered her akin to an Omega. It is astonishing to consider that her father holds the position of Beta within this pack.”

“You have spoken enough, my friend. Please, afford the girl some respite,” Don remarked, “Moreover, if you adopt a less critical perspective, she is not as unfavourable as your Luna.”

“What did you just articulate?!”

“Indeed. The absence of a wolf does not negate her other commendable qualities, which you will only discover through exploration. The moon goddess’s judgements in pairings are infallible. We must simply embrace the leap of faith and trust in its potential value.”

“A leap of faith, indeed. If I were to take such a risk with that girl, I would undoubtedly suffer severe consequences. There is no possibility that I could have tolerated a single day without rebuffing her.”

“I comprehend your perspective. However, was it necessary to publicly humiliate her? It would have been more considerate to decline her privately, preserving her dignity. Now, she risks becoming a subject of ridicule among her peers.”

“I am indifferent to the global condemnation she faces for the humiliation I inflicted upon her,” I stated icily.

“That renders you a contemptible individual.”

Don emitted a snort.

“A foul-smelling posterior?!” I echoed in astonishment, “What is the matter with you? How can you possibly support that girl over me?!”

“I am not taking sides in this matter, Robert,” he denied.

“It appears to me that you are,”

“I am not. I am merely stating the facts. Humiliating her and her family in that manner was unjust. You are aware that the truth is painful, so confront it. However, do not overlook the fact that you were in the wrong,” Don asserted bluntly before exiting.

“Don!” I shouted, however he did not respond. He vanished into the throng and proceeded to converse with other Betas from various packs.

The party concluded after an hour, necessitating our departure. Our return to the flock is dismal as we both disregard one another. We decline to recognise one another’s existence. He sought my acknowledgement of being incorrect, but I refuse to concede anything. Because I was not, and Donald must comprehend that.

Donald is both my childhood companion and my closest buddy. Following the demise of my father, the previous alpha of the Dark Claw Pack, and his Beta, Don’s father, I ascended to the position of Alpha, with Don therefore assuming the role of my Beta. We experience conflicts and moments that irritate one another. However, I am aware that he consistently supports me, and I reciprocate that support.

Jessica’s Position

My so-called friend not only rejected me but also proceeded to humiliate both myself and my mother.

What type of companion is that? Among the multitude of attendees at the party, why did it have to be him? I never expressed a desire for a dominant Alpha as my partner.

A Beta would suffice, or perhaps a Gamma or an Omega. I am indifferent. All I requested was a partner who will adore me. However, I received torment instead, and it is now igniting my heart in flames.

I desire to possess a wolf. I wish I were stronger than him; then I would not feel as feeble as I do at this moment.

I am emotionally exhausted. I lack the desire to continue living. I confined myself within my chamber, refraining from exiting.

Following the events of this evening, I would prefer to avoid confronting anyone. I am currently experiencing profound humiliation. My sole want is to weep and rest.

A knock resounded at my door once more, “Jessica, kindly open this door,” Mother implored. She has been pounding since our return, although I have been unable to get the resolve to open the door. “Jessica, please open this door. We need to converse,”
