“Don’t drink too much; it would be troublesome if you get drunk.”
“Okay.”
Lola took a sip of the wine.
The unique, sweet, and slightly bitter aroma accompanied the red liquid as it slid down her throat.
Even after just one sip, she could already feel herself getting tipsy, so it seemed his words were not wrong.
“Since you did really well today, I think I should give you a reward.”
The sudden remark while drinking wine felt a bit out of place.
Lola’s expression turned puzzled.
“A reward? What kind of reward?”
“Lola, come sit here.”
Dylan gave an answer that was different from her question, pointing to his knee with his finger.
Unable to understand his meaning and unable to guess his next action, Lola hesitated to move.
“Should I come over there? Or will you come to me?”
As Dylan urged her, Lola quickly got up and sat on his knee.
Only then did Dylan, satisfied, soften his gaze and take something out of his pants pocket.
It was a gift he had prepared despite his busy schedule. Even though he had made a bombshell declaration about marrying her, he hadn’t given her anything yet.
He had almost forgotten something important while being enchanted by her words, so he was relieved that he could give her something now.
When he opened the well-wrapped case, a necklace came out. It was a very simple yet expensive-looking necklace with a mini-sized droplet pendant.
“Ah!”
Lola couldn’t help but exclaim in admiration, her heart racing.
Dylan carefully took the necklace out of the case and put it around her neck. The touch of his hand against her bare skin made Lola feel strange both physically and emotionally.
Her body tingled, and her heart was in a complicated state. She felt good, yet her heart raced and fluttered.
“And this too.”
Dylan took something else out of his pants pocket and suddenly touched her earlobe with his hand.
“Hmm. That’s a relief!”
Lola became even more bewildered by his cryptic words and actions.
This time, it was a pair of pearl earrings with a luxury brand logo.
Dylan personally put the earrings on her ears.
“They suit you well.”
Was he checking if her ears were pierced?
At first, Lola was puzzled as to why he was touching her earlobe.
Was this the reward he mentioned?
But why?
She didn’t even know why she was supposed to receive a reward, yet it felt too extravagant to call it a reward.
As she tilted her head in confusion, Dylan pulled her close and whispered.
“Thank you for saying you’d marry me, Lola.”
Today was a series of tremors.
She had trembled with nervousness when meeting Aliza, felt a pleasant thrill when he came to her text, and now she was trembling so much from his confession that she could hardly think straight.
She felt excited and happy.
Her heart was pounding so fast that Lola reached for the wine glass to calm her trembling.
One sip, two sips…
The wine glass quickly emptied and filled again. Her cheeks gradually turned a peachy hue.
At that moment, Dylan should have stopped her. Not stopping her then became a significant problem later.
With a slight gap between them,
“Dear.”
Her lips parted, and a slightly hoarse voice slipped out.
Dylan narrowed his eyes.
“Uh!”
“I really like you a lot, but do you like me too?”
Such words would have been unthinkable for her to say under normal circumstances, but after a few sips of wine, it seemed Lola had found some courage.
The sudden question was unexpected, but Dylan leisurely took a sip of wine and asked.
“Are you drunk?”
“No… I’m not drunk.”
“You seem drunk.”
“In my eyes, you still look handsome, cool, and amazing. So I’m not drunk.”
To prove her point, Lola wrapped her arms around Dylan’s neck and kissed his lips. Their lips touched briefly before parting.
“See? I told you I’m not drunk.”
With a bright smile and a wink, Lola defended herself, and Dylan muttered softly.
“I’m going crazy!”
So why didn’t I stop her from drinking the wine?
Was it because her flushed face looked pretty and cute like a shy bride?
Was it because her lips, glistening with moisture, looked alluring?
Was that why I just stood there, entranced?
“Lola, you’re really drunk. Let’s get some sleep now.”
After saying that, Dylan stood up while holding her and walked to the bed.
He carefully laid her down on the bed and then lay down facing her, gently patting her back.
“Lola, let’s sleep quickly.”
Lola smiled seductively once more.
Dylan felt flustered. He was trying to be considerate of her, who must have been very nervous today, by letting her drink wine, but he never expected it would make her drunk.
