Arrogant Husband and Timid Wife – Chapter 69

Heart Raced

Even though it would still take some time for Dylan to arrive at the hospital, she went to the bench first to wait for him.

And how long had it been?

The phone in her hand vibrated with a new message.

-I’ll wait on the bench.

He must have sent this message while parking his car. It wouldn’t take more than about 10 minutes to get from the parking lot to here. As each minute and second passed, Lola’s heart raced.

His face was one she could never tire of seeing, and looking at him made her feel excited and nervous.

Lola’s gaze instinctively kept watching the same spot in front of the bench.

And a little while later.

The sound of footsteps grew closer and closer. As she turned her gaze in the direction of the sound, she saw him approaching with confident strides.

Seeing her sitting on the bench, he seemed a bit surprised and paused for a moment. The two stood facing each other at a certain distance.

Dylan took a step forward and asked her.

“Were you waiting for me?”

Even though he was dressed casually in a t-shirt and jeans, he still looked handsome. As he got closer, his handsome face became clearer under the streetlight.

“I was just getting some fresh air.”

Even though she was indeed waiting for him, Lola lied on purpose, fearing he might see through her feelings.

“Really?”

“Why did you come?”

This wasn’t what she meant to say.

His arrival had slightly eased her earlier chaotic feelings.

But somehow, different words came out.

“This is a bit disappointing. I shouldn’t have to have a reason to come see you. I came because I wanted to see you, but you look like you’re not very happy to see me.”

“Oh, no. That’s not it. I was… waiting for you.”

Seeing Dylan’s face clearly showing disappointment, Lola waved her hands anxiously and ended up revealing her true feelings.

Whenever Lola spoke honestly, Dylan would be taken aback. Sometimes, he found it amusing to watch her various reactions, but when she was too honest, he didn’t know how to respond.

After a brief silence, Dylan walked over to the bench and sat down, gesturing for her to come closer.

“Lola, don’t just stand there. Come sit here.”

“Ah, okay.”

As Lola approached, she tried to sit next to Dylan. But he pointed to his knee with his finger.

“Not there, here.”

Even though he had asked her to sit on his knee more than once, Lola still hesitated instinctively, not used to it.

“What are you doing? I told you to come sit here.”

With Dylan urging her, Lola had no choice but to carefully sit on his knee, cradled in his arms. Dylan’s lips curved into a smile.

“Were you waiting for me?”

“Yes.”

“Why?”

When Lola didn’t answer, Dylan lowered his head and placed his lips on her white neck.

“Ah! Dear.”

A tingling sensation coursed through her body, and Lola urgently wrapped her arms around his neck.

“Why were you waiting for me? Do you have something to say to me?”

His question was teasing. As Lola lowered her gaze, Dylan held her face and lifted it up. Then, words stumbled out through her lips.

“O-dear, I… missed you.”

Dylan quietly looked at her before burying his face in her neck. The hot breath he exhaled made Lola’s body tingle.

“What should I do with you?”

His tightly restrained voice poured over her neck.

Hearing this ambiguous and puzzling statement for the second time, Lola remained silent.

Dylan lifted his gaze and looked at her deeply.

“Are you still worried about Aliza?”

Lola shook her head slightly. Dylan, curious, asked again.

“Why? You said you were worried earlier. What changed your mind so quickly?”

When Lola didn’t answer again, Dylan frowned.

“It seems you have a bad habit of not answering people, Lola.”

His voice, tickling her ear, felt dangerously enticing. At times like this, Lola’s heart raced, and she felt completely out of it.

“With you…”

“With me?”

What a frustrating man. He made her unintentionally reveal her true feelings like this.

“When I’m with you, I don’t worry about anything.”

Hearing Lola’s words, Dylan let out a short sigh and pulled her into a tight embrace.

Feeling dizzy, he thought of a cigarette. Instead of a cigarette, he ate chocolate. And he came all the way here because he missed her in the dark night.

Why did I do that?

Though he didn’t know the reason, seeing her face strangely calmed Dylan’s heart.

“Lola.”

“Yes, Dear.”

Lola answered softly, burying her face in his chest.
