Against the Alpha’s Claim – Chapter 207

Favour

Luke grinned when he caressed her back. “Regarding the entity currently developing within you.”

“What?”

“Please, proceed.” I can perceive that faint heartbeat; I am confident you will nurture him or her impeccably.

“Damn Alpha senses,” she grumbled.

Luke smiled quietly, stating, “It was not that; it was the prohibition on drinking and the pause following Halley’s name.” Is father aware yet?”

“Indeed, I awoke to find him smiling at me, his ear against my abdomen.”

The day following our return home, she informed me, and I quote, “You’re nurturing a son within you.” She then shook her head and ultimately withdrew from him.

“A son, is it?””

“Indeed, it appears so.” She agreed. “I have already observed it; his remarkable foresight.”

Luke chuckled, “Instruct that man to utilise it effectively and determine the duration required to assist Bella.”

“I will, although he is likely already attempting.” He must be there with her to discern it. Provided he is able to do so. It is quite ambiguous and occasionally lacks clarity.

“I am aware.” He nodded. “Out of curiosity, how did you acquire Luna’s Communications book?””

“I believe every pack contains one.” It is an enchanted tome; whatever is inscribed within it is replicated in all other volumes. For the use and communication of all Lunas, I presume. However, the majority include just significant items inside it. I will chronicle our experience with Bella for future reference to others. packs.

“I am uncertain regarding that.” He scowled.

“It is exclusively intended for Luna’s.” I believe it was first intended for significant messages, but ultimately transformed into a journal among pack Lunars. Not all packs utilise it; others do not using it whatsoever. Currently perceived as exposing your vulnerabilities to the adversary.

I understand the rationale. “It may be utilised in that manner,” he affirmed.

“Son, I believe it is crucial for us to record this to assist others who are similar to Bella, as I surmise there are others with her condition.”

“That is highly probable,” he affirmed. “Please refrain from mentioning her name and rank.”

“Understood.” What transpired with Maddis, Tyler, and the children?”

“Quite well.” He smiled directly at her. “You should have witnessed them, Mum, riding around on us.” The way Karis hugged Tyler, I think he’s been waiting a long time to do that, to meet her in wolf form.” She smiled up at him “That’s lovely to hear. You and Bella?”

“Better I think. Having only me and no Maddis this morning seemed to help.”

“Again good, you might want to do that more often with her.”

“How do you suppose I do that?”

“That is a predicament, son.” She laughed, then sighed, “Now I crave a pickle,” she said.

“Retrieve a pickle.” He gestured dismissively and proceeded to his office. Seated on his chair, he appeared to be receiving a younger sibling, who might engage with their puppy.

Maddis interjected.

“Cease that behaviour.” Luke grinned, since it was a pleasant notion. Halley was the same age as the triplets, who already had families and the leisure to engage in play.

He surveyed his office, noting the current tranquilly. He recognised that he had no immediate obligations and decided to utilise the leisure time to prepare for his talk with Bella later that evening, after the children had gone to bed.

He ascended with the book and her blood test results, placed them in the suite’s office, and shut the door. They encompassed all the necessities he required. Exited his suite to observe Benzy approaching.

Originating from the vicinity of Robyn’s room.

“What is the extent of the damage?”“He inquired.”

“Numerous injuries, none life-threatening for an Alpha-blooded wolf. Although he is not particularly loquacious, he recoiled upon my entrance into the room.”

“Indeed, he ought to.” His actions were imprudent; he ought to have finished the Mark and addressed the consequences, instead of halting the marking process and jeopardising her safety by allowing her to flee and maybe perish.

“He likely believed you would murder him.”

“I am now more inclined to do that; what would be the purpose if he had marked her?””

“Do you wish to instill the fear of Maddis in him?””

“No,” Luke said, shaking his head. “Let Bella manage him; Dani may resort to yelling and screaming.” That would be more detrimental to him than any of us undertaking it. She may still threaten to abandon him, as she has already done.

“We cannot permit that, Luke,” Benzy admonished him with a scowl.

“I will not, but I would allow him to believe otherwise.” He has lost her, and it is entirely his own foolish fault.

“He has accomplished that on two occasions.” Benzy acknowledged.

“I may proceed with that; it would serve as an effective means of reprimanding him without imposing a direct punishment.” He spoke telepathically to Bella, “Hello, where are you currently located?”‘

“I have showered and am now proceeding to obtain food.”

“I will speak with him; could you assist me with a favor?”

Striking Luke’s newly discovered fated mate with claws unsheathed—a reflex her wolf, Tyler, cryptically defends with the words, “To protect the pup.” Stripped of her place in the pack and warned never to return, Bella complies, narrowly avoiding the rogue label since Luke has not yet ascended to full Alpha status. Heartbroken and resolute, she retreats to the human world, immersing herself in university life to complete her law degree. Six years pass in self-imposed exile, but the past refuses to stay buried. When an official letter from the Red Moon Pack demands her return, Bella defiantly burns it, vowing never to step foot in Luke’s territory again. But Luke, now the reigning Alpha, is relentless. He will bring her back, no matter the cost. Bound by the constraints of human law and society, Luke cannot simply take her by force—her prominence in the human world complicates any attempt to make her disappear. Yet, he is determined to claim what he believes is his by right. As their paths cross again, Bella is thrust into a storm of conflicting emotions. Her wolf yearns for Luke, urging her to reclaim the bond they share, but Bella’s heart is torn. She despises the man who cast her out yet still feels the undeniable pull of their connection. To her, Luke’s motives are clear: he wants his heirs by his side, not her. She believes his wolf drives him to claim her, while the man himself sees her merely as the mother of his children, a convenient solution to his legacy. But is that the truth? Or does Luke harbor a deeper love for her that he has yet to admit—even to himself? In the battle between pride and fate, will Bella surrender to the mate bond or stand firm in her resolve to remain free? Only time will reveal whether their fractured past can heal, or if the scars will prove too deep to overcome.
