Dr. Sophia – Chapter 250

Treat

Livinus’s face remained impassive, but Felix knew from experience that his calm exterior was a prelude to a storm.

Back at the clinic, Sophia was busy attending to patients. Thanks to the herbs Halliton Waylon brought back, she managed to save a critically ill patient, pulling them back from the brink of death.

When she finally returned home, she found Livinus sitting at his desk, reviewing documents.

“I heard Scott Henry is back?” she asked.

“Yes.”

“And he’s with Kim Brown now?”

“Yes.”

Sophia couldn’t believe it. These two seemed like they had nothing in common. How did they manage to stir up such a scandal?

“So, they plan to stay together and kick Olivia out?”

“Yes.”

While Sophia felt a sense of satisfaction at Olivia’s misfortune, it also annoyed her that Scott Henry, the idiot, seemed to be getting off scot-free by finding a well-connected rich girl to settle down with.

She asked a few more questions about the Scott family, but Livinus’s tone remained indifferent throughout.

“I’m going to rest,” he said finally, getting up and heading to the bedroom.

Sophia was taken aback, sensing something was off.

She followed him into the bedroom. “Livinus, are you—”

But he cut her off, closing his eyes and speaking in a detached tone. “Just sleep.”

Something was definitely wrong. Sophia stared at him for a while, unable to figure out what was bothering him.

Livinus was usually reserved but never cold toward her. He was always kind, never taking out his frustrations on her.

What was going on today? She couldn’t think of anything she might have done to upset him.

Determined to get to the bottom of it, Sophia decided to test him. That night, she went to bed completely naked, a move that would usually draw an immediate reaction from him.

But this time, he didn’t move at all.

Something was definitely up!

The next day at noon, Joanna brought lunch to Sophia and casually asked, “Doctor Smith, you and our president…”

“Hmm?”

“Nothing, I just wanted to ask, you two didn’t have a fight, did you?”

Sophia was taken aback, a bit surprised. “Why would you ask that?”

Opening the lunchbox, she saw the usual combination of four dishes and a soup, meticulously prepared with a focus on health. The soup was pork rib-based, perfect for the winter, providing warmth and comfort.

“No reason. It’s just that President Scott seems to be in a bad mood.”

The mind of a CEO was as unfathomable as the ocean’s depths, making life difficult for Joanna, his secretary, who constantly had to guess his emotions.

“In a bad mood?”

“Yes,” Joanna recalled how Livinus had been chopping pork ribs that morning with a cold, emotionless expression. His aura was so intense that it made everyone around him uneasy. She and Felix had secretly speculated whether the president had been triggered by something.

Sophia paused, her brows slightly furrowed. Last night, Livinus had indeed seemed off. As someone experiencing her first relationship, she was a bit slow on the uptake regarding emotional matters. She’d assumed his mood was related to the ongoing chaos in the Scott family and hadn’t thought much of it.

“So, what exactly triggered him?”

“I’m not sure. I asked Felix, but he just laughed and hinted that the president might be nursing a broken heart.” Joanna gave Sophia a knowing look, clearly fishing for gossip.

“A broken heart?” Sophia chuckled. “Unless your president has a mistress, I can’t see how I’d be the one to hurt him.”

“How could there be a mistress!” Joanna said indignantly. “President Scott has no one but you. Even the mosquitoes around him are female. I can vouch for that. So, Doctor Smith, think carefully—did you do something to upset him?”

Sophia didn’t answer immediately, frowning as she reflected. There hadn’t been any issues between them lately. The only thing she could recall was that morning when he had wanted to go for a second round, and she had refused, exhausted by his insatiable demands. If her body weren’t so fit, she might not have been able to get out of bed.

Could he really be upset over that?

While she was an excellent doctor, Sophia had no experience in relationships.

“Doctor Smith, did you figure something out?”

Sophia nodded seriously. “I think I found the issue. I didn’t expect your president to hold a grudge like this!”

“Doctor Smith, men are the most petty creatures alive. They can flip faster than women.”

“Really?” Sophia was skeptical but decided to let it go. After finishing her meal, she moved on to treat a new wave of patients.
