Connor looked out the window. The sun was nice today, and he suddenly smiled, but tears rolled down his cheeks. “What can we do? Her parents have long thought she was dead and have had other children. Now they don’t even want to recognize their daughter. Sharon has already married that scoundrel and had children. Without direct evidence proving that she was taken by them, they can take her away, and no one has the right to say anything.”
“So you’re saying they won’t face any punishment in the end?”
Connor closed his eyes and said nothing.
Thelma knew he must be feeling worse than anyone else at this moment. His girlfriend, whom he had missed for so many years, had now become like this, yet he was powerless to change anything.
Thelma didn’t disturb him any further. She patted his shoulder and left.
Sam Noah had just arrived at the office when Wade knocked and entered, saying, “President, the front desk called. Miss Ava wants to see you about something.”
Sam Noah took off his suit jacket and hung it on the coat rack without looking back. “Tell the front desk to send her away.”

Sam Noah didn’t even look up. “Just say what you need to say. I’m busy.”
Ava’s heart raced as she adjusted her breathing to ease her tension. Then she placed the photo in front of him. Sam Noah glanced over, finally putting down his work to pick up the photo.
It was a photo of Thelma and Eric together. From the background, it seemed to be on a rural path. The two appeared to be chatting, and later, Eric even held Thelma’s hand.
“Why are you showing me these photos?”

Ava was incredulous, looking at him in shock. She saw him sitting with his hands clasped on the desk, his posture serious, and he wasn’t joking with her.
“Really… is it true?” Despite her efforts to control herself, her voice couldn’t help but rise with excitement.
“Of course, this is your reward.”
