Rejected But Not Broken – Chapter 7

Board

After thinking it over, I decided to ask Thalia Eve before ending this relationship. After all, she has seen more men than I have eaten meals. I didn’t know what would happen if I went directly to Frank, but just thinking about it was terrifying.

“What? Did he force you to have kids?”

“No, he’s still a kid himself! I just don’t want to be his mom.”

“You said you wanted me to find someone obedient and easy to control, but he…”

“I was wrong. I found someone too much for you and forgot that you’ve always hated trouble.”

“Thalia.” I was genuinely afraid she would get angry.

“Don’t worry, I know what you’re afraid of. We have after-sales service.”

After-sales service? This once again confirmed that Thalia Eve was not simple.

“Lillie, have you heard?” Just as I was about to return to my seat, Thalia Eve called me from behind.

“What?”

“About Ricky Aya.”

I almost forgot. Thalia Eve had another identity: the daughter of the vice president of the parent-teacher association. Did she call me over because there was some new information?

“Thanks to you, the whole school now knows her true colors.”

“I originally just wanted to prevent others from being harmed, didn’t expect it to be so successful. But I really did feel pain because of her broken leg.”

“This incident has also alarmed the parent-teacher association and the board. She might be panicking. My dad said she seems like a different person lately. Maybe this is her true self. In the past, she was always humble and polite, so parents had a good impression of her. But recently, she’s been arrogant and bossy, and parents are disappointed. The board has decided to intervene and investigate this matter.”

“If they’re going to investigate, you might get involved too.”

“Thanks for the reminder, but that rumor wasn’t spread by me on purpose, and the content is true. I won’t suffer any losses.” I didn’t expect the situation to have such a big impact. Since that’s the case, Ricky Aya, bring it on!

“Lillie from Class 2, Year 3 of the high school department, please come to the principal’s office.”

“Once again, Lillie from Class 2, Year 3 of the high school department, please come to the principal’s office.”

All my classmates were looking at me. Just as I was walking out of the classroom, bearing the humiliation, I suddenly heard shouts from the entire floor, “Lillie, go for it!” I was almost in tears. Who would have thought that someone who had been an unknown for nearly three years could be so popular one day?

Knock knock.

As I pushed the door open, I saw three board members sitting side by side, while Ricky Aya was sitting on the sofa opposite them, looking like a scene of intense interrogation.

“Lillie, please take a seat!”

I saw them point to the seat next to Ricky Aya. A little student could sit alongside the principal; it seemed like a good start. I walked over and sat down. They also stared at my leg, which hadn’t had the cast removed yet, for a while. Just when I thought the board members were looking at my leg with sympathy and couldn’t speak, the board member on the right, who looked the most serious, spoke up.

Her eyes were large, and because she was extremely thin, her eyes looked somewhat bulging, giving her an intimidating appearance. “We have already conducted a detailed investigation of the incident.” In short, they weren’t giving us a chance to defend ourselves.

“Ricky Aya, what do you have to say?”

The board member continued, “According to our investigation, after you approved Lillie’s leave, you called her mother, and it wasn’t an immediate call. You called on the day of the leave, right?” The tone was filled with heavy questioning that even made me shiver. Ricky Aya seemed to want to refute but stammered a few times and chose to remain silent.

“From this, it can be seen that you indeed had the intention to harm the student behind the scenes.”

“I didn’t! I was just fulfilling my duty to inform her mother.” Ricky Aya finally started to argue back.

“I remember saying earlier that we have already conducted a detailed investigation.” This time it was the board member on the left who spoke.

Oh my! Does this mean they’re telling Ricky Aya to shut up? A stack of photos appeared on the table. I glanced at them; they were again photos taken by a private investigator.

“You handed a stack of photos to her mother.” The tone was certain and left no room for rebuttal.

Now, it was the right board member’s turn to speak again. “Ricky Aya, as the principal, you have the responsibility to prevent students from engaging in inappropriate behavior, but what you are doing now is merely using this excuse to harm students.”
