Arrogant Husband and Timid Wife – Chapter 55

Oh! Hello

As far as he knew, Alan Jay was not the type to make such frivolous comments.

Dylan looked at Alan as if he found it somewhat unexpected.

“I mean, you look good.”

Alan added with a nonchalant smile, trying not to reveal his intentions.

“Thank you. I’ll take that as a compliment.”

“Mr. Dylan.”

“Yes. Please go ahead.”

Alan hesitated again. Dylan frowned slightly at his unusual hesitance and urged him to continue.

“Brother.”

“Are you still seeing Lola Dax these days?”

Even though they were close, they had always respected each other’s privacy and had never asked personal questions until now.

If it weren’t for the fact that Nia had been contacting him frequently, Alan wouldn’t have asked such a trivial question.

“Yes.”

Since there was no reason to hide it, Dylan admitted it honestly.

Alan pressed on.

“When are you getting married?”

It seemed like there were an unusually high number of questions today.

This was not typical behavior for Alan Jay.

Dylan looked at Alan with a gaze that suggested he was about to dig deeper.

“I’m just trying to prepare a congratulatory gift in advance.”

Alan replied nonchalantly.

“I’ll be looking forward to it. Please prepare a lot.”

Dylan spoke without a smile. Alan was taken aback but burst into laughter.

“You two look good together. I guess that’s why people date and get married. Dylan, you’ve become more human lately, haven’t you?”

“I’ll take that as a compliment.”

“Of course, it’s a compliment.”

With the atmosphere relaxed it seemed like the right moment for Alan to ask.

“Are you in touch with Nia these days?”

Even though Alan had tried to express it indirectly, Dylan’s expression looked displeased.

“Should I be in touch?”

His voice sounded curt. Feeling awkward, Alan cleared his throat and quickly changed the subject.

“I heard there’s going to be a reunion soon. The kids have been messaging me, asking what you’ve been so busy with lately.”

Both Dylan and Nia were juniors to Alan.

Alan, who had a deep affection for his juniors, hoped that all of them would do well.

However, seeing Nia frequently contacting him and asking about Dylan made Alan feel uneasy.

Nia seemed to have an interest in Dylan, but it seemed she had missed her timing.

From the brief conversation Dylan had just had, Alan was even more convinced of this. Dylan and Lola Dax appeared to have a solid relationship, leaving no room for Nia to intervene.

Dylan pretended to eat while quietly observing Alan, who seemed lost in thought.

It seemed that Nia was frequently reaching out to Alan.

Perhaps it would be better to marry Lola as soon as possible so that Nia wouldn’t have any thoughts about Dylan.

While he had such thoughts, he felt it would be unfair to Lola. After all, marriage wasn’t something to be rushed into.

Today marked the third day since Dylan had last seen Lola’s face. He had been busy working hard to ensure there were no issues with their trip to the Mappe Villa this weekend.

As a result, he had been curious about how she had been doing and missed her.

*******

By the time Dylan parted ways with Alan Jay after dinner, it was already 9:30 PM, not an early hour. However, wanting to see Lola’s face, he turned the steering wheel toward the hospital.

A little later, after parking in the hospital parking lot and walking toward the bench, Dylan sent a text to Lola.

“I’ll be waiting on the bench. Let’s see each other for a moment.”

But by the time Dylan arrived at the bench, his phone was silent.

This had never happened before.

Dylan was not a patient person and was not good at waiting.

Furrowing his brows slightly, Dylan took out his phone and dialed Lola’s number.

“The phone is turned off, so it will connect to the voice mail…”

An unwelcome automated message came through the receiver. It was the same, no matter how many times he tried. Dylan felt uneasy.

She wasn’t the type to sleep so early. Without any hesitation, Dylan’s steps headed straight for the hospital entrance. He had never experienced her phone being turned off, which made him feel even more anxious.

Feeling uneasy, Dylan’s steps toward the nurse’s station felt heavy.

He couldn’t help but worry if something bad had happened or if she was unwell.

“Oh! Hello.”

Nurse Sasha, who was on duty, recognized Dylan as he approached the station and awkwardly stood up to greet him.

“By the way, who are you looking for this time? Both Mrs. Gia and Ms. Lola Dax are not on duty.”

“Ms. Lola Dax’s phone is turned off. Do you know where she might be?”
