The Luna and Her Child – Chapter 3

Expresses Discontent

“What actions should we take regarding her?”Brandon enquires.

“Perhaps we should transport her to the local fire station?” Shall we allow the humans to take her? “She appears frail; she is likely a human infant,” Alpha posits.

“What if she is a juvenile werewolf?” We will be able to ascertain by the time she reaches one year of age. And who can ascertain her ultimate destination?I enquire. I feel a strong sense of protectiveness towards this baby girl, particularly after hearing Alpha discuss abandoning her to unfamiliar humans.

“Even if she is a wolf, she is merely an omega.” Werewolves exhibit excessive possessiveness and protectiveness towards their offspring, rendering abandonment unlikely. If she is not human, she is an omega. “Omegas are so feeble that she could lead a typical human existence, entirely oblivious to her lupine heritage,” states the Alpha.

He is correct. Omega individuals represent the most vulnerable segment of the werewolf species, frequently encountering difficulties in their transformation. It requires considerable effort and patience on their part.

She could lead a conventional life as an omega within a human family. Whom will she approach, I continually ponder?

“I believe you are correct, dear.” Luna concurs that this is the optimal course of action for her.

“Pause.” I have encountered alarming accounts regarding human foster care, and that is where she will ultimately be placed,” I implore.

“If she is human, her presence here is impossible.” It contravenes werewolf legislation, Celine!Alpha serves as a reminder to me. He is correct. Excrement.

“Let us arrange for my Beta to deliver her to the fire station in the morning.” Alpha determines that we will have the remainder of the day and night to manage her dehydration, after which he will return her early in the morning.

“To what location are you escorting her?””

“I will escort her to one of the elder women for her care until that time.”

“Wait… I can attend to her until then,” I respond, instinctively orienting my body away from him to prevent him from taking her.

“Are you certain? I presumed you would not be inclined to participate, considering the recent events,” Alpha enquires.

“No, I desire to!”“I declare, gazing at the slumbering angel in my embrace.”

It is 2 AM, and I am awake attending to my daughter. I have an alarm programmed to activate every 90 minutes. She is adhering to a rigorous rehydration regimen, and I observe that she is undoubtedly improving.

She gazes at me with her large blue eyes as I feed her, and I sense a profound connection between us. I sense that she perceives me, requires me, and has already placed her trust in me. She is satisfied with me.

Norah visited earlier and appeared to be restless in her arms, but subsequently settled in mine. I believe she also feels a connection to me. I am continually concerned about her being left with unfamiliar individuals who may not provide adequate care or with whom she may feel uncomfortable.

Perhaps due to my recent orphanhood, I fervently desire for this infant to have a home. Security. Affection. Contentment. I am moved to tears by the notion of this cherished girl lacking those essentials.

The more I contemplate it, the clearer it becomes. I cannot permit this to occur to her. I cannot relinquish her. I believe I am already in love with her. I experience a profound compulsion to safeguard her. I cannot abandon her. I am unable to do so. I must confer with Alpha in the morning.

I will rear her as my own. I am capable of accomplishing this. This is my objective. It must be, as I sense it profoundly within my essence.

I gaze at her cherubic visage while I lull her back to slumber. She is flawless. I must assign her a name. Contemplation. I take my phone and begin searching for names online. I have narrowed it down to Tessa and Alyssa. I will contemplate it overnight.

At 7:30 am, Beta Hayden has just arrived. “I must confer with Alpha; I wish to retain her,” I inform Hayden.

“That is not the strategy; allow me to perform my duties,” Hayden murmurs.

This is a juvenile. An individual. I request the Alpha’s presence, making an effort to modulate my volume. I do not wish to frighten the infant girl.

[Pause]

“I established a mind link with Alpha, and he instructed us to convene in his office for discussion,” Hayden states, irritated.

“I appreciate your assistance, Hayden!””

Knock, knock.

“Enter!”Alpha expresses discontent.
