Destined to Rise – Chapter 131

Trafficker

This carriage wasn’t as quiet as the sleeper car. The chubby woman and the thin man were just an ordinary, bickering couple.

No one would pay attention to their conversation. The woman threw the water bottle on the table: “You wretch, I just met a wonderful young girl!”

The man’s eyes lit up, and he sat up straight:

“Where? Is it convenient…”

Whether she was traveling alone, whether she had strong male companions, it would be best if they could coax her into following them willingly. If coaxing failed, they could still subdue a young girl, as long as she was traveling alone!

The woman was a little unhappy, “She’s too alert, she looked at me like I was a pile of dog shit!”

Once she got her hands on her, she wouldn’t have a good time!

The woman grumbled resentfully.

The woman wouldn’t give up so easily. Since Whitaker Scarlett ignored her, she meticulously primped herself, applying makeup, carefully combing her hair, and putting on a gold necklace. At first glance, she looked like a wealthy woman of status. Then she waited between two carriages; Whitaker Scarlett would have to get water and use the restroom, she couldn’t stay in her berth forever.

By almost noon, the woman’s legs were numb from standing when she finally saw Whitaker Scarlett going to the restroom.

The woman squeezed forward, grabbing Whitaker Scarlett’s arm, “Hey, girl, even if I said a couple of wrong things, you don’t have to be so angry! Come, come, let’s sit over there, and we’ll clear up this misunderstanding.”

This tactic of feigning retreat and forced apology was very skillful.

If the people around mistakenly believed that Whitaker Scarlett and she were acquaintances, things would be easier!

The words were vague, making it difficult for most people to explain, especially young girls who are suddenly confronted with this attitude, easily misled by the woman’s line of thinking.

Whitaker Scarlett felt the woman’s strong grip on her arm, and she immediately asked loudly:

“I don’t know you, you’ve tried to get close to me several times, aren’t you a human trafficker?!”

Even getting a cup of hot water could lead to encountering human traffickers; Whitaker Scarlett felt incredibly unlucky.

What was this woman trying to do?

Whitaker Scarlett wouldn’t put up with it and try to reason with her; she didn’t have the time. She directly asked if she was a human trafficker. The chubby woman, flustered and embarrassed, tried to pull Whitaker Scarlett aside: “Come on, come on, let’s go find someone to settle this!”

“You are a human trafficker!”

Whitaker Scarlett wasn’t physically strong enough to match the chubby woman, but her other hand had already found the stun gun Kay had given her.

She was about to give the chubby woman a good jolt when the surrounding people started to murmur, and some came forward to intervene.

“Big sister, this young girl doesn’t seem to know you, does she?”

“Why are you holding onto her arm?”

“Could she really be a human trafficker? I heard there are people on the train who specifically steal children and trick women. They tell young women that they can introduce them to jobs in the south to make big money, but it ends up with them being sold!”

“Where’s the train police? Quickly go get the train police.”

She couldn’t be dragged away under any circumstances. Whitaker Scarlett was also wary of these people trying to mediate; she couldn’t be sure if any of them were the chubby woman’s accomplices.

The chubby woman didn’t say whether she knew Whitaker Scarlett or not, but she just threw a tantrum, demanding that Whitaker Scarlett apologize:

“Who did you call a human trafficker? At such a young age, you just casually accuse people; you’re not a good person!”

Whitaker Scarlett was annoyed to death by her. She didn’t take out the stun gun in public, but she fiercely kicked the chubby woman’s shin. The pain in the shinbone was intense, and the chubby woman immediately let go. She tried to grab Whitaker Scarlett again, but Whitaker Scarlett was already shouting “Catch the human trafficker!” and took advantage of the situation to escape the crowd.

“Stop right there!”

The train police arrived, brought by the bespectacled middle-aged man who hadn’t spoken to Whitaker Scarlett. The middle-aged man stood with his hands behind his back, speaking with exceptional composure:

“Comrade, we bought sleeper tickets precisely for the quiet, and this woman is making a fuss. She might really be a human trafficker.”

This was on a train; there was nowhere to run. The chubby woman instantly lost her arrogance.

However, she still put on a brave front: “Who did you say is a human trafficker? You’re all in cahoots, slandering a good person!”

Whether she was a human trafficker or not could be verified. Whitaker Scarlett first explained her situation and handed her introduction letter to the train police for inspection.
